A Way to Improve the Selection of Shinies in the Wondertrade
Forum-Index → Suggestions → A Way to Improve the Selection of Shinies in the WondertradeHowever, this situation is rarely seen in SWT. What is left to be excited about? Just the same old shiny gyarados or beedrill or gengar.
With this, I am suggesting a way that can encourage users to place a bit more "uncommon" shinies in the wondertrade without disregarding those who simply do the wondertrade for the sake of getting rid of their excess shinies from their hunts.
We know that every time we do a SWT, we have a chance to get a code with chance to hatch a shiny ho-oh. And many ppl, including me, only uses the wondertrade solely for that reason.
But, is there a way to quantify the value of pkmn being placed in wondertrade?
Yes. One thing that is hidden in pokeheroes is the existence of the "stonks", as users would call it.
In here, pkmns can be quantified and priced based on their selling price in the market.
However, what does this tells?
There is indeed a way for the system of PH to quantify the rarity of the pokemon here.
Though not always the case, but in most cases, pricey shinies are rarer. A rarer shiny suicune is more expensive than a shiny magikarp.
However, even though there are shinies which are pricey but not that rare (such as combee), this still mean that users would find it hard to let them go since they are expensive. Why would u let go of a shiny male combee that can be sold for around 200K PD?
Now, since we can quantify the value of shinies, then that means we can also quantify the value of the pkmns that is being placed in the shiny wondertrade for exchange.
With this, shinies which are more expensive according to stonks will give more chances on getting the code of shiny ho-oh, which in turns motivate users to place more "uncommon" shinies in SWT.
Question
What about shinies with no records on stonks?
Sadly, there are shinies with no records on stonks. But, this is because these shinies are very valuable as compared to getting a shiny ho-oh code. Why would u trade ur shiny ditto for a chance to get a code?
But, what if I just really want the code and wants to maximize ur chance OR simply just want to surprise the receiver? Well, for this case, we can set a constant value for shinies with no records on stonks. This value must be high, of course. This way, the program will read these shinies more valuable since they are rarely seen in the market.
What about shinies who recently released in the site so there are still no records of them?
Well, for shinies of newly released pkmns, we can set the constant value for them lower as compared to those shinies of no record but is already in the site for a long time. This constant value will stay like that until there is enough data in the stonks of its value, or until after a period of days. If there are still no data on its price after a period of days, then it is safe to assume that the shiny is indeed very valuable.
Add-ons
Also, maybe users who place a shiny in SWT will also have a bit higher chance of receiving shinies of the same value.

This will ensure that we don't see the same gengar and beedrill combo.
Anyways, I also agree on that idea. In order to make everyone put more "uncommon" shinies, why not just remove these "common" shinies?
However, other users might find it difficult to agree on it, specially those who have a ton of spare shinies with mega-forms.
Furthermore, though I also think of it as plausible, would it really solve the problem without creating a new one? If pkmn with mega-forms are banned from SWT, then would easier pkmn (such as beach shinies, honeytree shinies, butterfree) would replace them?
Also most people who hunt shiny megas release the pokemon or sell the pokemon for lower price in AH.
With the current state of SWT all you get in return are the same mega shinies just with different OT.
What I suggest for the SWT is we get shinies which are totally random and not is expected from a certain group of pkmn.
I agree with your idea, banning shinies with mega-form might be a good idea, but still we should still incentivize users who put shinies which are not caught from honeytree or the beach. Or else, we will get a public trade where users will say something like "Looking for beach/honeytree shinies for SWT". It will just similar to what we see now. :(

Do you know how many fairly rare EVENT Pokemon that would exclude? 47 event Pokemon! It might not be common, but that's mainly just because event hunting is hard. And do you know WHY it's hard? Because people don't want to deal with the daycare, which you don't have to deal with if you get the shiny forms of the event Pokemon from SWT! And Stonks is accurate to a degree, but I've often quoted it and been told by many other users not to use it to price Pokemon but that items were just fine because various factors can change the price of the Pokemon you're dealing with but all the items look at is the plain price, pretty much.
