Ah sorry, any items received before the update have been used for research. The only things obtainable at the time were eggs and coins. Now ingredients are obtainable as well as more coins and other things!

I'm afraid those objects aren't classed as ingredients. All ingredient items will be marked with the [Ingredient] tag when discovered, and will be added to your inventory. Any [Useless]/[Trash]/[Animal] items won't be added to your inventory. Ingredient items are essentially just the items used to craft potions.
