The SS School for Shapeshifters
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Private RP → The SS School for ShapeshiftersFor all the formality our family holds in high esteem and the heavy expectations on your shoulders, know that in our hearts we are naught but young podlings who have yet to truly come into ourselves. Even as I write, the sea mourns your presence and yearns to hold you in her hands again. Mother disapproves but she has never heard the siren call of our home and thus should be excused for her manners. Her home is in the darkened skies after all. Father too has grown used to turning a deaf ear to the waves that beckon him home but I still belive that you hold true to our solemn promise. But fret not, esteemed elder sibling of mine, for all of us will grow accustomed to the ever shifting hole that you occupy in our lives. Take the time to learn about those who are not like us, the moon shifters, the sky walkers, the allseeing and the sea singers. School is a wonderful opportunity to knew new people. I know of your shy nature and implore sibling dearest to reach out to those unlike us. They will be better friends than you nor I could ever anticipate.
Stay safe for you are still our mother's beloved heir. She may never see you as I do but this is a chance for you to shed the skin of a well bred ruler and simply be yourself. No one will judge you, this I promise. Do keep up correspondence, however. I am well aware that my esteemed sibling neglects to inform us of ongoings that occur that may be of utmost importance. At the very least, Mother will be very cross with you. Perhaps her anger will spur you into action where my words can not.
Your loving family still,
The One who Sings of Sorrow
How quaint, that his sister still speaks so formally even in written prose. Though Haruto himself still stuck with his upbringing's rules on speech and propriety, he at least was relaxed enough to address his letters casually. Picking up a pen, Haruto went to work, scratching out the opening lines of "To The One who Parts Raging Seas....
By the time he had finished writing up his letter, the noise outside his door had died down and he assumed that those he shared a space with had settled down, their rooms and luggage set up for the foreseeable future. Opening the window, Haruto crumpled up the letter in one hand before blowing over it. Dust tumbled out of the cracks in his hold and scattered into the wind the moment he released his tightly clenched hand. With the letter sent, Haruto turned to wander the halls, looking around the place. He wished to familiar himself with the area and have control over his new living area. Knowing which hallways led to where and which doors held rooming students was something that Haruto wanted to know, the feeling of having control over his surroundings settling around his shoulders like a safety blanket. As he wandered, he could hear one particular dorm room close to his own filled with warm conversations.
A person stood at the docks, blinking up with clear green eyes at the enormous boat that stood in front of her. She shuffled a bit to the side, her long, shredded witch-like dress blowing up her legs, lightly brushing the dark blue umbrella she held, and the luggage she clutched in the other chocolate-coloured hand. She had dark blue hair that cascaded down her back, curling in various waves, not unlike the ones that crashed down by her feet.
This person's name was Olive. A new student at the SS School for Shapeshifter's.
Her mouth moved as she read the name of the school, but no sound came out. At last, she stopped, smiled, and skipped up the steps, her dress dancing behind her. She knocked on the door, but before anybody could answer, she dropped her umbrella, whipped it open-
And watched as the door slammed into the umbrella, sending it whirling into the sea below.
Whoops.
Eh, whatever. Better that than her suitcase.
She made a noise that sounded a little like a giggle, then stepped inside, now clutching her suitcase with both hands.
They blinked, adjusting to the strong light. The place was a fancy sort of place, with glowing candlelight and shades of red and orange and yellow brushing along the walls and streaking the well-patterned carpet in the floor.
Olive's hand uncomfortably moved along the handle of the heavy suitcase, and the moment passed. They closed the door behind them, and the sounds of the storm outside faded into oblivion.
Olive took a piece of paper from their pocket and peered at it-
Roommates, huh?
She smiled a bit. That was exciting. She'd never had a roommate, not since camp. Now that was a disaster-
A clattering sounded, and they jumped. They glanced nervously about themself-
Oh. Just the thunder- Well, they might as well get settled in... if they wanted to make it to class tomorrow. They slipped something into their dress pocket, and continued down the hall, peering curiously through the open doorways. They saw kitchens and bedrooms, and casinos and classes- places of every kind, merely waiting on this ship. A thrill ran up their spine-
They paused at their door and double checked the writing. Here we are. They took in a deep breath-
Then knocked.
They tilted their head to the side, seeming to be waiting for something.
Adrik made a little dismissive noise in his throat and pulled a book out of his pack. He pushed his backpack to the end of the bed with his feet and opened his book to a page. A bookmark fell out from it and he placed it under his pillow before he began to read.
