"That does sound preety cute," Alison laughed. From the way Jules
described Proffessor Flitwick, it seemed that she would enjoy this
class. That would be a refreshing change from the others, and she
was glad of it. "It seems like I'll have a good reason to enjoy
this class, then." She didn't plan on forcing herself to enjoy it,
but it would be nice if she could.
“Well, I might be a bit biased, since it is my favourite class
after all.” Jules chuckled a bit embarrassed. “But I do hope that
you can find a class that you can fall in love with. Learning is
supposed to be fun in my opinion.” Says the person who’s taking 11
classes and suffering for it. Disregarding his own hypocrisy, Jules
began leading the way towards the Charms hall. Maybe he could even
pop in to the class for a few minutes just to say hi. He didn’t
have Charms today and his next class was pretty relaxed anyways.
Hagrid didn’t remove points for being late nor did he usually scold
anyone for coming in later so Jules supposed that it would be fine.
She shrugged. "Even if you are biased, based on what you said I can
at least see some potential good in the proffessor, and that can
affect the entire class. Learning can be fun, but that's not always
what it's supposed to be, even.." she hesitated, "especially if
you're learning something tough." She quickly followed Jules to the
Charms Hall. "I hope I find that class as well."
Spoken like a true Ravenclaw, Jules laughed to himself nodding in
agreement. "Well right now we're in the Charms Hall on the third
floor." He explained, pointing out some markers found within the
hall including a painting of a few drunk monks. He was pretty sure
that there was a secret passageway hidden somewhere within the
corridor but he didn't have any proof nor did he know where it was
located so kept quiet on that front. "All your Charms classes will
be here so it's not that hard to remember after the first week or
so. Filius rarely takes away house points so even if you're late,
he's really forgiving about that." Stopping before a nondescript
door, Jules angled his head towards it. "And this room right here
is 2E, or more commonly known as the Charms Room. It's not that
hard to find since there are only two classrooms in this hall."
"2E," she repeated, trying to commit it to memory. "Alright then,
anything else I should know?" Her eyes landed on the painting, and
disgust flitted across her face for a quick moment before she
turned back to Jules. "It seems that I'll like Proffessor Flitwick,
even if the class itself turns out to be unenjoyable." She glanced
at the door for a minute, just as before trying to memorize it.
Eventually she knew she'd start forgetting things if she tried too
hard to remember them, but hopefully by then she'd have it down.
"In regards to the area? Not much but I'll warn you that charms is
reliant on clear enunciation, a clear mind, and confident wand
movement. If you believe you can cast the charm, then you'll most
likely succeed. For example..." Following his eyebrows for a
moment, Jules flicked his wrist and Alison could feel some of her
worries fade away, making room for a calmer feeling to ease her
racing mind. "If that worked, you should feel happier. I think. I'm
still not very good at the whole wandless magic thing. But the key
there was in the hand movement and the belief that I could
successfully cast the Cheering Cham." He explained with a nervous
little laugh, hoping to whoever would hear him that he didn't
accidentally jinx the first year by accident. It was already
irresponsible of him to cast charms on others, let alone with
something as unreliable as wandless magic. Opening the door for
Alison, he waved cheerily to Professor Flitwick who returned the
greeting before smiling at Alison. "Hey, it'll be fine. You're
already doing really well for your first day. Have fun, okay?"
The charm surprised Alison, but it definetly made her feel better,
and she smiled. "Wow, that actually worked!" She had no idea that
magic could make her happier, the ease making her a little
emotional. Her brain had been on overload mode for so long she'd
forgotten how to not be stressed. "Thanks, and I'll try," she said,
hurrying into the classroom.
Bidding farewell to Alison, Jules hurried to his own class. Care of
Magical Creatures was located outside so it took him quite a while
to get to class, drawing gasping breaths when he finally stumbled
into the courtyard. "Appologies for my tardiness," He coughed,
winded from the brisk walk that he had maintained throughout the
trip. "I got caught up showing a first year her class." Although he
knew that Hagrid was a leniant teacher, habit still had him
apologizing profusely, some part of him expecting a verbal lashing.
Suvansh saw and gaped how Aurora linked the room to his room too.
It was complex and simple at the same time. He quickly grasped the
concept and felt he could do the same the next time. It was a bit
like a broader expansion charm. When it was done, he looked at the
clock, and he was about 10 minutes late than he was supposed to be.
He and Aurora dashed to the grounds, where their care of magical
creatures class was supposed to take place. He saw Jules just enter
before him, and followed suit by apologizing Hagrid, but not giving
an actual reason, and Hagrid ignored that he or Aurora didn't give
one. He went over to Jules and greeted him with a fist bump. "So
how's your first day going?" He did not mean that about classes as
such, but for being head boy.
The question was met with a grimace as Jules returned the first
bump. "I'm managing. Apparently being known as the Head Boy who
will actually show students where their classes are, makes you
popular." He replied a little dryly as he half-listened to Hagrid's
instructions. "Even students from other houses have been coming to
me. Or well, I guess I've offered to help them too so I guess
that's kinda my fault." It appeared as if Hagrid was teaching about
creatures birthed from magical fire, with Fire Salamanders being at
the focus of the lecture though Ashwinders and Phonex's were
mentioned.
"Haha yes." He said, trying to show that he kinda related, but in
reality he didn't actually do much stuff today yet. He tried to
continue the conversion "Being a headboy really makes you the
center of attraction, you want it or not." He was intently
listening to Hagrid talking about the Fire Salamanders. Suvansh,
always, was a bit thrilled by fire and the creatures of fire. He
always wanted to have a fire salamander, or even a phoenix as his
pet, though he knew, magical laws restricted the first and a
phoenix...that wasn't actually always possible. He knew about
Dumbledore's phoenix, but it was such a rare thing, that he knew it
would never happen to him.
"Well there's only 8 of us anyway, of course, we're going to be the
center of attention." He shrugged, perking up when Hagrid
instructed the students to pair up and try and tame a fire
salamander between the two of them. He glanced up at Suvansh,
inclining his head in an unspoken assumption that they would be
working together. "I assume the first few weeks are the worst
though. Just gotta get through that first I guess." He lightly
shuddered at the thought of messing up again. Even if it was a
small slip up that would probably dent his pride and he'd wallow in
shame for an hour.
Suvansh nodded thoughtfully. He had some experience from being a
prefect. Jules didn't. He tried to assure him "Whatever happens, we
will get through it." He subsides his voice to a whisper before
continuing. "Who knows what the prophecy is going to bring upon us
next." He continues to mimic Hagrid, doing as he says. The
salamander was tamed quicker than Suvansh thought. He threw it a
great to fetch. "Talking of the prophecy, what are your thoughts on
it? Surely won't be letting the teachers keep us away from certain
danger-"
That was the million-dollar question, wasn't it? Carefully picking
what words to use while watching their salamander scuttle off to
retrieve the branch, Jules let out a sigh. "I mean, what is there
to say?" He asked with a wry smile. "I don't know whether or not to
believe in it, honestly. Even if it is a prophecy, it's not like
there's much to go on. Scarlett would be the parel the rhyme speaks
of but that's about it." Call him stubborn for not believing the
babbling of an old magical hat, but Jules was skeptical about a
dark lord rising again. It hadn't even been 30 years since the
Battle of Hogwarts and he doubted that someone so powerful could
rise again in such a short time. Even if the rhyme spoke of her
demise, the probability of such an event coming to pass was so
minuscule that Jules didn't want to humor the thought.
"Hmm whatever is the case, we need to be ready." He raises a chin
towards him. He might be skeptic about it, and maybe he wasn't a
part of it, or Suvansh, but as headboys they needed to be ready,
and try to make whoever was a probable person for the prophecy
ready.
"I agree. There's never a dull year at Hogwarts, that's for sure."
Jules snorted. Two years ago it had been Misty and boy was that an
adventure that Jules was very glad he didn't participate in. The
pairs Fire Salamander had waddled back in the time the two had
conversed, and Jules bent down to scoop the reptile into his hands.
"And what about you? What's your outlook on this mess?"
Suvansh nods and then giggles at Jules' playfulness. He hopes he
could think like Jules and just discard the prophecy from his mind,
but then what could he do? Maybe he just overthought everything.
But what if he really didn't? He just petted the salamander.
Picking up some feed for the salamander, Jules glanced over at
Suvansh who seemed deep in thought. "a galleon for your thoughts?"
He offered, feeding their now very much tamed fire salamander.
While he wouldn't admit it, the prophecy did weigh down his
thoughts, a constant reminder at the back of his mind clamouring
for his attention along with the hundreds of worries he harboured.
Suvansh chuckled and let go of his thoughts. "Which is the next
class?" He asks Tsuko, even though he knew. He petted their
salamander a last time while Hagrid came to collect her. "She's
taken quite a liking to you both" Hagrid mumbles. He takes her away
with the other fire salamanders.
Scarlett accidentally teleports to the wrong place, suddenly
appearing in front of Jules and Suvansh. She soon realises her
mistake, and proceeds to let of a rather vulgar string of
Russian-English curse words. She waves her hands, clearing the dark
magic around her away, as her eyes glow red for a brief second,
before staring at the duo.
