Black ears twitched along with a sensitive nose and Kuro raised an
eyebrow. Someone had followed him. The disgusting stench of venom
and treachery practically flooded the air, uncanny slithering with
the added silence of padded paws only made his hackles rise
further. A low growl threatened to rise from his throat, but he
swallowed it down to step into the slightly dusty bedroom. It
looked freshly made, not a single crumple out of place. On the
nightstand was a picture and Kuro gingerly picked it up, regarding
the immortalized family pressed into the film with mixed feelings.
It only reminded him of who was waiting for him back in the other
realm. Replacing the precious memento, Kuro flexed his fingers,
stretching out his wrist in preparation for a fight. "What business
do you have with me?" He snarled, turning around to face Cheshire.
While his body language wasn't confrontational, he certainly was
wary and regarded the Tatzelwurm with a fair bit of suspicion.
"Business?" Cheshire questions. "Who is to say that I have business
with you? Maybe you have business with me?" Cheshire raises
herself up to her full height in the hopes of discouraging Kuro
from attacking her. "Tut tut, still searching for the humans? They
don't wish to be found" Cheshire says ominously, her green eyes
gazing at the picture in Kuro's hands. "It's a waste of effort,
trust me, I've tried." Cheshire attempts to give Kuro a sweet
smile, which is bound to look much more predatory than kind. "I
would give up"
Rajek bounded towards a corner in the road. He'd successfully
covered the rest of the nearby area in record time, and was now
about to complete the final corner before awaiting the return of
the others where they had first been thrown. However, his
excitement got the better of him. Planting an arm in the ground a
moment too soon, he pivoted on it and lunged forwards again, his
shoulder annihilating a large area of the building, especially
closest to the impact point, where an entire large chunk of the
building flew out. The Wendigo spun out of control, skidding across
the pavement and tumbling into yet another building. Groaning, he
righted himself halfway, blinking the daze from his eyes. Looking
at the building, he bit his tongue: what glass remained had been
shattered all the way up and most of the way around the building,
and now rained down in viscously sharp torrents. The chunk that had
broke away from the structure had impacted another building, and
buried itself deep within the base of it. Flexing his arms, he
stood himself up on his hind legs, and evaluated the damage. The
building was no longer structurally sound, and what's worse, he
heard a pair of voices from inside. Cursing to and at himself, he
strode cautiously up to the building, preparing to call out to
those inside, if they had not already guessed at what had happened.
Artrix growled and snapped when he heard the loud noise, but
realized it was coming from another building. He made his way over
to a shattered window and noticed that other Wendigo rushing
in...he was unaware of his name but remembered that he had asked
him about his preference in whether or not he would want to go
alone. Tch. He would always go alone. He wondered, though,
why he was rushing into that building.
"Nice try, but you were the one following me, snake." He huffed,
seemingly unimpressed by Cheshire's attempts to dissuade him from
attacking. There were alternate routes of escape that he could
muscle through but that smile that stretched across the other's maw
was unsettling at best. "I don't care if humans want to be found or
not, I'll drag the kicking and screaming out into the open so I can
go home. Unlike you, I actually have a goal in mind, so if you'll
excuse me I have some hairless monkeys to find." Striding forward,
he was about to push past Cheshire's thick coils when the building
shook, knocking the half breed over as he stumbled. The small
tremor didn't last for long, but it did leave Kuro's ears ring as
he covered his ears with a grimace
Cheshire wasn't doing much better, she hisses out in pain, the
sound both painful and startling. She had almost instinctively
struck the first thing she saw, which happened to be the
nightstand. That would have been rather embarrassing. She hoists
herself upright with shaky arms and gives Kuro a hard stare. "Would
it interest you if I knew of their location?" Cheshire asks. This
was a lie of course, but Kuro had revealed that he was eager to get
home. Cheshire just had to hope that he was desperate enough to
believe her.
...
Winda turns towards the sound. Was this an attack? Who would be
foolish enough to attack a Wendigo? She considers ignoring it. If
this was an attack, then surly the whoever was being attacked could
protect themself. But she wasn't certain who or what lurked in this
world. It could be something new and dangerous, and from the sound
of it, that was very likely. So she races towards the sound, just
in case they needed back-up.
Rajek hoisted himself into the gaping hole in the building,
partially steadying it with his body. However, the building was
very heavy, hence the strain in his voice: "Get out of the
building! NOW!" He gritted his teeth and pushed up on
the structure, every muscle in his body straining to hold the heavy
construction up. Through slitted eyes he could see a staircase, a
few edges of rooms, and no bodies or carnage. The last one, he was
thankful for, however he was not quite as happy about the first
two: if he could not see anything here, they were probably farther
up, which was not great for his situation. If it took them too long
to com down, he'd likely be crushed and have to take precious time
to build his shattered body.
Artrix also heard a yell, which startled him. What was going on? He
decided to go down and investigate. Nimbly, he picked his way down,
and scuttled outside and into the entrance of the building. Since
Artrix hardly ever yelled, his voice was even odder than usual.
Usually, it was a hoarse growl with a bit of vibrato, but yelling
made the noise go from hoarse to raspy and the vibrato hummed
louder behind his words. if his normal voice would make human ears
bleed, this one would shatter their skulls. "What is going on?" he
yelled from the doorway.
From their vantage point, Revé could see the chaos unfold. bunching
their legs, they leapt across the roofs, claws catching against
stray footholds as they danced towards the wreckage. The slippery
stone had them skidding across rooftops quite a bit yet their
clawed talons held true and caught them before they could slip too
far. If anything it cut down some of their travel time and before
they knew it, they were hanging off the roof behind the crumbling
building. A quick glance around told them all they needed to as
they dropped down onto the ground.
"the hell?!" Kuro hissed, the more canine ears resting atop his
head flicking rapidly as the incessant ringing blared above
everything else. He only caught a brief yell that they should get
out and something about humans, but his sense of balance was
disorientated. "Save it for later, first we need to get out.
Nothing's gonna happen if we die here." Normally, now would be when
he barrels through the walls to escape into the concrete jungle,
but with the still shuddering building and his lurching vision,
that wouldn't be very effective. Instead, he determinedly made for
the door, eyes narrowed to focus on walking without tripping over
his paws
Cheshire bounds after him, running for dear life. The realization
that the building was about to fall gave her the strength she
needed to race out. The moment she steps outside she feels the
little fur she has prickle slightly. The Wendigos were here. They
would certainly complicate things. She hides a withering look by
shutting her eyes and bowing her head.
...
"Rajek what is the meaning of this?" Winda asks. She sits down next
to him and places her free four hands onto the building to help him
hold it up. "What did you do now?" she grumbles. Even with
Rajek's help, she was having trouble keep the building upright, but
at least her help would-. Well, she wasn't certain on why Rajek was
holding this up. But she could sense frustration and a hurried
sense, so she assumed people were in here. Her help would buy time
for whoever happened to be lurking in there.
Rajek watched a pair of creatures leap past them, then grunted out
a semi-command: "Stop holding up the building and run. It will take
a few seconds to fall. In that time we can escape the fall path and
not waste precious time." He shifted his feet slightly, as if he
were preparing to catapult himself away from the building. And, as
it seemed, he was planning to do so.
"Up we go, now then let us make haste." Revé chimed, picking a
stumbling Kuro up by his scruff like a disgruntled cat. Whist they
didn't take the lead, their glowing eyes did rove around behind
ivory bone, keeping a tab on all the other members. If anyone fell
behind, they would help pick up the slack
Cheshire was already clear of the fall path, so she remains where
she is. She slowly curls her tail against her body, as if trying to
make herself small and unnoticeable. She hated the Wendigos they
were too smart, too strong, too dangerous. She didn't intend to get
this close to them- well, at all. She has one eye open and she
watches the Wendigos with a curious look. Would they make it? It
really wouldn't affect her either way, but she was still
interested. She was hoping one would get crushed, but she didn't
think she would get that lucky.
...
Winda nods. She releases the building and takes off running. She
races sharply to the left of the building before stopping just as
quickly. The sudden stop almost makes her topple over. She watches
Rajek with a fearful look, suddenly feeling worried for him. An
unnatural feeling to this cold-blooded beast.
Rajek cast his gaze behind him, making sure that there were no
creatures behind him that could be crushed. Once satisfied, he
turned back towards the building, his bones giving a sickening
series of pops as his joints started to reverse. It took a mere
five seconds for his body to have reversed completely, leaving him
prone to leaping from the building. He took a breath, then froze as
the sound of something splintering drew his attention. A piece of
furniture had just broken above one of has talons, and only then
made him notice that one arm was nearly up to the elbow in the
ceiling and floor of a room. Gritting his teeth, he willed the arm
to sever itself from his body, then launched from the building. His
command had worked; the arm severed bone, muscle, and cartilage,
but came away from the rest of his body with the sound of tearing
paper. Landing on the ground below, he quickly drew himself out of
the path of the building. His eyes kept pinned on where the arm of
his was, as he would need to pull it from the rubble to repair
himself. He cursed slightly, under his breath, and watched the
building teeter slowly over, until it started to speed up it's
fall.
