Advi From Demon Slayer season 1
"So, ya wanna battle?" Winter asked the pink cat pokemon
"You sure? I'm warning you, but I'm actually a really seasoned fighter, you wouldn't want me going serious on you."
Winter shrugged. "It's a practice battle. You don't have to get serious. Plus, I have some interesting moves I'd like to try out that you might find a little interesting."
Her eyes sparkled. "Okay then, vulpix." She smiled, and immediately fired and Aura sphere at him
Winter just barely dodged. "Gah! I had no warning!" he protested.
"Is an opponent in a real battle going to warn you before attacking?" The Mew countered.
"Fair." He fired an ice shard, which she dodged with no problem. Grr...had he chosen the wrong opponent?
"Fine. Check this out." He was not gonna come in here, acting all confident and certain, then get mauled by this idiot. Oh hell nah. He used Ice shard again, this time, running into the attack as he unleashed it. The Mew dodged again, as he expected, but he leaped onto the still flying ice shards and grabbed one in his mouth, kicking off of the others, and flew toward the Mew, using powder snow to build up the blade in his mouth, creating something like Zacian's Behemoth Blade. In fact, he was turning the shard into a full on sword, which the Mew clearly wasn't expecting. He slashed her with it, giving no room to dodge and she fell back with a startled screech. Winter fell to the ground, his shard still in his mouth.
The Mew raced back to him, recovering quickly. "Wow, vulpix! That was really cool!"
Winter was taken aback, was the mythic praising him? "Thanks?" He replied as the attack dissolved into snowy dust.
The Mew was giving him a nod. "It's a really cool backup plan if someone dodges the shard. I totally wasn't expecting that!"
Backup plan...that wasn't what it was made to be, but he supposed it could work that way. "Thanks." He repeated. but the battle wasn't quite wrapped up yet. He used extrasensory, which the Mew dodged again. "How do you dodge that fast?" He called to her.
"It's...kinda a skill i developed over time... it's all about predicting your opponent's moves and choosing your timing carefully." She called back. This was a learning experience, right? Maybe teaching each other techniques would be cool. But her definition of learning was to do so in the heat of the moment, and figure out her own counter. It was how she was so good at battling, she was unpredictable, or tried to be.
Feeling a spark of determination, he used sand attack again, defying her words. As she coughed and shook off the sand, Fortem used rock throw, a move he learned when he was just a rockruff, which flew with the sand, and hit his mother (oh yeah, her name was comet ) in the face, leaving some small scratches. It wasn't much, but he'd done something, at least! He hoped to feel pride, like all the other pokemon probably felt after landing a hit, but instead, he only felt worried.
"Are you ok?" He asked quickly." Comet shook off the last of the dust. "Of course I'm okay!" She snapped, making Fortem flinch. "I'm a knight, after all. But, that wasn't half bad. At least you scored a blow," She tone softened. "That's enough training for the day. I need to work with the squires now." She flicked her tail, and walked off, probably happy to be working with someone more skilled than Fortem. He sighed, and began walking off. Maybe watching others fight would help him to fight? Fortem didn't really like watching battles... he always imagined pain where the other pokemon got hurt (this is a real type of synesthesia) , and it made him uncomfortable, and feel bad for them. But he didn't want to let his mother down... He padded to the side of the arena, and watched the mew from before talk to the vulpix. Hopefully they wouldn't see him staring and think he was sketchy or anything.
