I was wondering if it could be possible to change the gem cauldron system as it is right now to add new items to be boiled, not just gems. It will bring a good way to add new stuff of any kind in an already existing feature.
I've been thinking on it and it would be great to have new recipes for the rarer Form Change Items (those exclusive from events), or for those items not released yet (silver box/keys) or maybe even certain new summons or new quests.

There are many possibilities if we add new ingredients to our old cauldron, bringing also a chance to useless or almost useless items (like mushrooms or the spray duck). Let’s see some examples (the amounts of items of the recipes are totally invented):

Rare Form change Items recipes:

= 30x + 20x + 20x + Whatever
= 20x + 20x + 20x +5x +5x + Whatever
= 1x + 20x + 20x + Whatever
= 5x + 20x + 20x + Whatever

Other Items recipes:

= 1x + 1x + 20x +5x +5x + whatever
= 1x + 1x + 20x +5x +5x + whatever
C’monnnn I want to see magearna coming from here!!!

Summoning recipes:

Not necessarily legends (though they are also welcome XD), there are a few pokemon unobtainable nowadays. It will bring hunters a way to obtain those pokemon shinies (like alolan raichu or so)

Vivillion (Pride)= 3x + 3x +3x +3x +3x +3x +3x

Possible Quest:

Very typical, but entertaining anyway, a chained requests quest is perfect for this
Leah the mermaid needs something to be boiled to gift to Rowan
Rowan needs something to be boiled for the daycare owner
The daycare owner needs something for the beach waiter
And so on to obtain something at the end

Let's be honest not everyone is good at the cauldron. That's why the cauldron service shops are a thing.

So this will make another thing to put users like us at a disadvantage.

And maybe for the quest part, Leah could order something special to be boiled for something special (oof this sounds wierder written than thought).
This would bring a new life to the cauldron and is a possible way of introducing more things!

This idea is mostly oriented to have a way to obtain items that are unobtainbale nowadays.

-Selfie stick, for example, was released on april's fool 2019, and there's no other way to obtain it until now.
-Secret Sword, was released as an event reward and though wiki says it can be obtained from Mystery Boxes, I don't know about nobody who have found one.

So basically when you see these items in GTS are items from those events from people that kept them to have later profit. New users have no chance to get them.

Aside that, easy doesn't mean cheap, so not many people would boil to get them, just those really interested.
In the examples of main post I gave a recipe for selfie stick using "spray-duck" as ingredient. If I had said just 1 spray-duck is required I'd agree with you as we all have one or two in our item bags but, if the requirement is 30 or even more, then the recipe is not that easy to get :)

In summary, the easiness to get the items would depend on the amount and rarity of the ingredients and, why not, in the time given to boil them. Those I gave are just examples to give a general idea

You can still obtain the selfie stick, go to the old event and go through 10profiles. However those who already obtained it cannot obtain it again. This is how I obtained mine even though I started this year

But I completely agree... coz the items are like limited edition and so for those who want to complete pokedex have no other option than giving away their wallet... also no one sells them most times

I agree 100%, people should have to jump through big loops like going to the old event and go through 10 profiles. People who want a fully complete dex shouldn't have to grind away forever just because they didn't do the event or couldn't do it. People who aren't good at the cauldron shouldn't really be a negative point against this because it would help boost the economy and forum usage. Yes the items would loose value, but they don't need to be easy to get. Who wants to pay a small fortune to get an item?


TL:DR, I agree, people shouldn't need to jump though hoops and this will help boost the economy as well as forum usage. While it would loose some value to the item, at least you won't pay a small fortune now.
