I'm sick of trying to look up something and getting Roleplay posts and useless diaries spammed onto my search results.

Please add options to limit our searches to specific forums.

It would also be nice to have the search function differently. I'm not sure how searching here is programmed, but you can't type "How to get <pokemon>" and actually get a result. This is pretty bad.

You end up having to use extremely vague search parameters, then you get slammed with a million useless and unhelpful posts.

Forum searching is kindof useless as it is now.

To add, fixing and upgrading forum searching would help cut down on people posting suggested suggestions and cut down on posts asking already-answered questions. It would also increase visibility on guides, which is always a good thing.

Sorry if this is a duplicate post or if it's in the wrong spot. I checked the last 10 pages on this forum and didn't see anything. Also couldn't use the search tool to find similar posts. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Agreed! It's such a pain to scroll pages upon pages to finally find what you need- or maybe find out that thing doesn't exist and etc. I whole heartingly agree that a upgrade to this feature would be nice.

I'll also agree, while tossing in a few suggestions as well:

+ A function to search for threads created by other users
+ A function to search for threads made by yourself
+ Ability to see your post history
+ More subscription room (Seriously, why is there a limit in the first place?)

- Possible suggestion: Delete inactive threads 1+ year old to save some space.

I will say that forum searching currently is not useless, just today it helped be find a certain post in one of my threads of 50+ pages. Yes, you need to be specific, but if you can think of a rare word not commonly used that had been used in said thread, you have an easier time of using the current search function. It sucks sure but it's better than not having anything I think.

I agree, I tried finding a phrase that I had posted in a forum & got tons of results even when I put my phrase in quotation marks.

It was maddening, I tell ya!

Yes, please! Even though I’m mainly a mobile user and rarely use my iPad, I see that the search feature is whack and really bad... I can’t even find a use for it because the results are just really random

I also agree with Kendra about the forum subscription limit. I’m an active Roleplayer and I need a lot of subscription space so I can keep up with the role plays I’m in.
About the “delete inactive threads” thing, I think it should be inactive threads where the owner of the thread is also inactive.

Bump. Needed information on a certain Pokemon's evo and forum searching literally yielded only useless RP posts and diaries.

I agree! i was about to suggest:

Search Forum by word. If you want to make a suggestion and someone has already done so, instead of going through 35+ pages to see if its been asked for. You can search a word like “Pride” to see if someone has already in their forum made that same suggestion around a pride event. (So, it just shortens the suggestion list from 35+ that aren’t talking about “Pride” to maybe 2 or 3. And then with that you can look at those particular forums to see if the word “pride” is linked to an already existing suggestion.

(But maybe its because i just cant find the search function)

Honestly, I would like for the search to be.. I dunno, just plain better?

But I feel like if they added search parameters, it'd prolly do the trick.

Parameters such check boxes or a drop-down list that adds things to the search.

RP Posts (uncheck)
Diaries (uncheck)
Help threads (check)
Guides (check)

I'm not sure if the forum search even brings up helpful posts or if they're being drowned out. I don't have any way of knowing without going through the pages and pages of useless posts.
