He sighed and looked at her with a cold expression. “I can’t risk it” he simply said, not even an apology about his rejection. He turned and began to walk away. He felt bad about leaving her like that, but he had learned his lesson. He couldn’t risk any further interaction with humans.

Title: Chapter 2: The Awakening

*5 years after the war began, the poor and rich kingdom had been renamed into the city of Telmar. 3 days after the day nicknamed "The Day the Thunderbirds Fell", the Telmarian Counsel was founded and under their rule, poverty and starvation in the kingdom disappeared. Under the command of Gwen and Blossom, the kingdom now has a functioning army and squadron on medics. But things aren't perfect. The scars of the past run deep. Violence among former poor kingdom residents and rich kingdom residents has all but died down over the years. And things will only get worse, as a dark presence is growing deep in the northern woods.*

*Skeletons long forgotten to the forest laid in the melting snow. It was quiet, but all of a sudden there was movement underneath the snow. A hand shot out of the snow and pulled its owner out. The figure stood up and looked at the skeletons. They walked over towards a skeleton leaning up against and saw a wet piece of parchment in its hand. The figure took it and read it to themself.* Father..... *The figure looked up and revealed a skull mask.... who's owner had black eyes with red streaks. It was Talla, back from the dead*

So far, everything was peaceful among his kind. No threats, nothing to worry about. He could sense something was wrong, waking him up from his slumber. A threat was in the woods, and it was familiar too. Every day he wondered if he made the right decision by rejecting Maddy’s plead, but kept it in the back of his mind

Luke is fully healed (since about 1 month after the rebuilding) and is walking with a hop in his step. Today was his birthday! He has so long waited for this day for the 17th time. He remembers the war when he was 12, but remembers that it is all behind him. He goes to visit all of his friends. He still has glasses, but his hair is darker and he is taller.

*Gwen walked down the streets of the city. She saw a group of soldiers walking down the street and began to walk towards them. They stopped and moved out of her way, saluting in the process. Gwen looked at them* At ease soldiers. Have any of you seen Counsel Woman Tani? *One of the soldiers stepped forward* Yes madam, she's down by the old war machines. *Gwen cursed.* Ok, as you were. *Gwen ran towards the gate to get Tani. The soldiers continued on with their day.*


*Tani sat on one the old warmachines. During the reconstruction, the people dragged a a few inside the gates of the city but the ones that were left in the forest had been neglected and the forest began to take them over. Tani looked towards the city. She took out the necklace Maddy gave to her and clutched it.* I wish you could have been here Maddy. *Tani saw Gwen running across the field towards Tani. Tani got off the warmachine and walked towards Gwen*

Shadow went to see who had entered the forest, sensing a presence near the war machines. He hated how the humans had neglected to take them back. It was a deadly reminder that he was still a part of a war. He noticed Tani and Gwen and took the form of a human, trying to not seem as suspicious. He stayed hidden, just in case Tani was hostile. He remembered Gwen clearly, but was still wary of her

*Gwen went up to Tani, out of breathe* Tani- Tani- Sage has called- called a council meeting *Tani nodded.* Thanks for telling me Gwen *Tani began to run towards the kingdom. Gwen stayed back for a minute and heard a stick break behind her. She drew her sword and saw Shadow in human form* What the hell are you doing out here? Get back in the city!

*Sage waited in the cities main building with the other council members*

Shadow sighed and turned away, walking deeper into the forest. He wasn’t going to the city, he hated it there. He was suddenly reminded of Maddy’s plea to him 5 years ago. A part of him wished he had accepted, but the other half reminded him that is was for his own good.

*Tani arrived in the cities main building. She was met with a mildly upset Sage.* Tani, your late. *Tani looked at Sage.* That was my bad. *Tani took her seat and the meeting began.*


*Far from the cities gates and miles from the ruins of the former rich kingdom, there laid a small village, long forgotten to the winds of time. A hooded figure walked through it and heard nothing, but saw the village had nearly been burned to the ground. They felt the wood of one of the houses and flinched. The stranger heard a twig break behind them and turned, drawing their sword in the process. It was a long sword with a golden handle and a red gem in the center of it's hilt. When the stranger saw nothing they took of their hood, revealing Maddy's face. Her hair was shorter than it was 5 years ago and she had a scar that went from the center of her forehead to the left side of her chin. She closed her eyes and felt the house again, which began a flashback. She sat on a horse, watching Talla slaughter innocents. A little girl ran up to Maddy's horse and clutched it's leg. The flashback skipped what happened after that and it skipped to Maddy protecting the girl from the Cloaks. The Cloaks yelled at Maddy.* Traitor! *Maddy soon cut those ones down. She then heard a cracking sound and the whole roof caved in on both Maddy and the little girl. The flashback ended and Maddy opened her eyes again.*

Luke is walking through the town with no problems in his life. He has a good enough job as a builder and gets a reasonable amout of money, so he goes out and tries to find something he wants, then goes to get a dessert.

Rose lifts the sword and chucks it at the mine shaft wall. The wall crumbles. She heads deeper into the mine. Her pale skin dusted by coal. Rose shifts her arm and positions the sword to throw again. She brushes her hair out of her eyes. The pretty pale red hair that once went down to her waist is streaked with permanent black and barely reaches her shoulders

*Talla walked up to one of the mountains near her and began to climb it. Once she reached a flat, she saw a towering gate. Guards rushed towards the entrance and pointed spears at her* Identify yourself stranger! *Talla's eyes turned black.* Stand down, Ridley. *The guards stood down and took a knee.* Madam *Talla walked past them, through the gates to reveal a kingdom within the mountain*
