So, I know we can have a search function for the forums, what I am
suggesting is a way to narrow down your search. Say, for example, I
am wanting to find a breeding shop selling Bulbasaur. With the
current system, if I type in Bulbasaur it will bring up 801
results, the majority of which are from either the forum games or
rp's. So I suggest that when you are on a topic page, for example
if I was on the "Breeding" forum page, when you search it would
bring up only the results of threads within the Breeding forum.
I can see this being most helpful in the trade section of the
forums, but also for the suggestions and help sections as well.
Anyway, that's the idea. Any thoughts or comments?
Support. People say "use the search function to find threads
already made", but the problem is the search function is too broad.
I never use the search function because I simply don't have time to
look through that many random posts just for one thread/post.
Full support. As stated previously, the search function picks up
pretty much every single little thing in the entire forums section,
making it so obnoxious to flow through all of those pages of
unrelated forum posts to see if what you're posting already exists
or not.
I support, what you proposed is a good idea, but I think that more
traditional search function, which you can find on other forums
would be best, because you have more options there and, like in
your idea, you can choose which subforum you want to search
through, and if you want to search only in titles or also in posts.
Personally I think it would be cool if there was also an additional
option - searching only in first post of the thread. :)
Hmmm, I haven't really been on other forums so I don't know how
they do it, but it's a good idea to have the option to search only
in the first post, or only in the title.
This is really good, especially for me, since I always try to
search threads in a specific topic, but I am forced to use the
whole forum's search instead.
