Blaze walked up to Tenshi. "Please, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to
make you angry. But please don't say mean things about my trainer!
He's a good person, I promise."
Katu sighed, and stepped away. The Fennekin wasn't her
responsibility, she didn't feel like she needed to get hurt looking
after him if he wanted to act so stupid. Instead, she walked
towards the Milotic.
"It's not your fault you couldn't calm them down." Katu deadpanned,
her voice tired. "That Fennekin has a habit of getting into
trouble. Even if you never see us again, please don't blame
yourself."
Hunter had watched the entire scene silently, sitting some distance
away on the beach.
Huh. Perhaps sticking together wasn't the greatest of ideas.
That situation had escalated far too quickly for his liking. He
would have stepped in, and admired Katu for doing so, but he wasn't
really in the mood to get shredded by a mega evolution.

Aino strutted around the beach regarding the people present
critically. The Fennekin was plain stupid and naive, The Milotic
was too scared and self sacrificing, the Espeon tried too hard to
be a leader to them, and he didn't even know what the Lucario and
the Ninetails were like. This was a certifiable disaster.
"I'll... Try not to." He squeaked. He weighed his options for a
little bit before rising out of the water. "Is ... Is it okay if I
come with you guys?" He asked timidly floating above the sea. "I...
I want to try... And help these humans..."
((Finally an accurate summary of my idiot characters))
"Sure." Katu shrugged. "Like I said, I won't stop you. And I would
try to stop them-" Katu indicated her head to the two fighting
Pokemon, "But I'm not in the mood to get shredded by a mega
evolution right now." At the very least, she thought, the humans
were safe. Even if the Absol decided to wreck the beach, the humans
were pretty far away.
Hunter began idly tracing shapes in the sand, still listening,
still staring into the fog, as if expecting something to emerge
from it. With a sigh, he stood up and brushed himself off, looking
at Blaze.
"I'm sure your trainer is a wonderful guy." He said gently. "But
why don't you leave the Absol be for a moment and come talk to me
about your trainer?'

"Oh-okay!" Blaze agreed, still on edge. He walked towards the much
larger Lucario, curious as to what he wanted to talk about. "Uhm.
What do you want to talk about? I can tell you all sorts of things
about my trainer!" Blaze said, fidgeting.
Katu raised an eyebrow, and went resolutely back to not caring
about the situation.
Lucario sat back down, still watching the Absol carefully. "Tell
me, how long has he been your trainer? Did he have any big plans
before all of... this?" He asked, gesturing expansively. He hadn't
really thought about wha he was going to talk about. He'd just
thought it would be better for the Pokémon to be here,
talking to him, as opposed to there, getting destroyed.

"Oh! Oh!" Blaze jumped around, excited. "He's been training me for
a month now! We get along really well, and I got him as my trainer
when the Professor gave me to him! We had a friend who chose my
friend Froakie! A think her name is Nathalie now. And my trainer
brought me here so we can beat out first gym. I think we were gonna
got to the Orre Region after this, but-" Blaze tripped up, tears
threatening to form. "But now he's sleeping and I don't know how to
wake him up!"
"That's nice." Hunter had muttered while the Fennekin had been
speaking about the plans to beat the gym. He sighed and looked down
when he mentioned not knowing how to wake the trainer up. "Yeah,
well..."
He was considering saying that no one else knew either, but taking
a single look at the Fennekin, he decided that that wasn't what the
Pokémon needed to hear.
"... I'm sure we'll figure it out eventually." He finished. It was
only better if the Pokémon didn't really think about it and took it
entirely on face value. So, all things considered, it was probably
better.

"Yeah! I'm sure you will!" Blaze agreed, suddenly cheerful once
more. His drastic changes in mood had often surprised his trainer.
Blaze could be inconsolably crying one moment and laughing himself
to tears the next. "Do you have a trainer, Mr. Lucario?"
Katu flicked an ear as she laid down on the sand, silently
listening in to the conversation. She had missed her own chance to
ask about the Lucario's past, and the leaves she had seen stuck to
his fur intrigued her. He must have been through the forest.
Hunter shook his head. "No, not now. Once, yes. But that," the
Lucario said, lying back on the sand with a sigh, "was a very long
time ago. I barely remember him, in fact. But I'm pretty sure he
was an okay guy." Hunter paused, trying to recall something that
validated that. Eventually, he shrugged.
"Or maybe he wasn't. It's all behind me now "

Tenshi growled and left the beach, still not calmed down, as she
could feel the extra fur on her back and could see that her claws
were red, not orange. She stalked away. "If these useless animals
aren't going to help me, I'll.just do everything myself."
Katu wanted to go after Tenshi, but forced herself to calm down.
The Absol was still in her mega form, and still highly dangerous to
be around. She didn't want to risk hurting herself. At the same
time, she also wanted to go after Tenshi, because she really didn't
like the idea of anyone going alone. It was hypocritical of her,
but there was a reason she'd always wanted to be around the
daycare. She didn't like the thought of anyone being alone, her or
otherwise.
"What do you mean?" Blaze asked, concerned. "You mean you don't
have a trainer?"
Although, a new plan formed in her head. Waiting for a few more
moments, she, too, left the beach, but far away enough that she
couldn't be seen as following the Absol. After all, the beach only
had one trail.
Hunter fronwed, watching the Espeon go. "Hmm? Oh. That's right. No
trainer." He said. He briefly debated going after the Pokémon and
then wondered how involved he wanted to get. After all, she hadn't
made any indication that she wanted help. And he didn't know
that she was going after the Absol. Maybe she just wanted to be
somewhere where she couldn't hear Blaze.
Because Arceus knew that, now that the Absol was at a safe
distance, he wouldn't mind if the Fennekin decided to go do
something else.

Katu stopped midway through, rethinking what she was going to do.
That was, trailing an angry and potentially hostile mega evolution
with possibly more experience than her into town. She shook her
head. What was she getting herself into? She shouldn't be doing
stupid things like these. The Milotic and the Lucario had already
all but agreed to tag along. The three of them would have to be
enough. Who knew, with more pokemon spread out looking, they would
even find the cure sooner.
"Not at all?" Blaze repeated, aghast. "That sounds so terrible!
I'll introduce you to my trainer as soon as I can-" The Fennekin
paused. "I mean, as soon as we wake him up."
Tenshi made her way to the town, intending to find the source of
the fog. As she came closer, she felt her mega features begin to
fade, eventually coming to a complete stop. It was almost
disappointing, as she enjoyed the feeling of that power, well, only
when she could control it. But she knew mega power was only
temporary. Besides, she didn't need it to sniff out some fog,
right? She tried walking through different parts of the town.
"You know, it's not as bad as all that." Hunter told Blaze. "I get
to spend a lot of time on my own. Alone. With my thoughts. In peace
and quiet." Hunter said wearily, rubbing his eyes and sitting up to
look directly at the Fennekin. "I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch
your name." The Lucario said.

Around Tenshi, a lot of were on the ground, sleeping. A single
ninetales walked around, her face and body hidden behind protective
body armor. The Ninetales sniffed through the sleeping bodies of
trainers, while the had been knocked out for some unknown reason.
The Ninetales flinched when she saw Tenshi. The absol hadn't
noticed her, so she ducked into cover. She didn't notice as her
tail knocked against one of the trachcans lying around, making some
noise.
Katu turned around, and headed back for the beach. She could see
the Lucario still talking to the Fennekin.
"It's Blaze!" The Fennekin chirped helpfully. "And yours?"
The Lucario sized up Blaze for a moment and then shrugged. "My
name's Hunter." He replied. "It's a..." Hunter hesitated.
"Pleasure? Yeah. Pleasure to meet you." He said, just about keeping
a straight face.
He noticed the Espeon coming back over the sand and tracked her
progress. The Absol was still gone, though that could mean
anything.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too!" Blaze stilled for a moment, as
if he'd just come to a profound realization. Then he gasped, and
seemed to shoot into the air with a jump. "Since I know your name,
does this mean we're friends?"
Katu blinked, listening in on the conversation. "Now where on earth
did that come from?" She mused. The walk had done wonders to quell
her paranoia and annoyance, even if it had been only a brief walk.
