I doubt this has been suggested anywhere, but I was thinking about it after this suggestion about Pokémon biographies.

Let's keep it simple like I do with most of my suggestions.

Pretty simple.

When you hover over the mystery mark this will appear:

This is to help avoid confusion with people thinking a Pokemon would be an impossible gender it's not supposed to be by game standards.

Point of this? It's simple, there's overwhelming support for Pokémon biographies. People obviously want to make their Pokémon more unique and give them more personality, and this would definitely be a nice added touch.

I know not everyone may be apart of LGBTQ, but I still believe there's people that would still love something like this regardless of them being apart of it, or not. For example there's a lot of legendaries that don't have genders with the exception of Latias/Latios and Heatran, and we may feel they should be certain genders. Regardless, I don't think something like this would cause any real implications, and it's NOT like it would be changing the ACTUAL gender of a Pokemon and would be messing with game mechanics in any way.

Anyway, hope you guys like it, and as always no hate please.

I like the idea but I think it shouldn't show only that its gender masked. There should be also mentioned the original gender.

It would look crazy it a Nidoran(f) or Vespiqueen is male... I think you'll have to think about it...

True, just thought about those Pokémon like Nidoran, could be a bit iffy I agree.

I don't think it would be much of a problem with Vespiqueen, since you could still mask a Latias to be binary, or whatever. Don't see anything wrong with it though, since everyone feels differently and has their own opinions.

But sure, the original gender of the Pokémon could always be shown as well to clear up confusion more. I think that would be helpful.

This suggestion is hugely supportive of the LGBTQ community, that's really good but,

There's also the breeding part to look at. It would get really confusing at the Daycare. This will also affect the users looking for a specific gender of Pokemon. Pokeheroes features are made to make things simple I am assuming, masking the gender would only make the User's task more complicated.
Plus, if you haven't noticed, The grind to getting certain gender for a certain shiny pokemon is what keeps a few people running on the site. This would be a drastic overstatement of a comparison but its as if you are asking to be able to convert pokedollars into nuggets.

I do understand the gender Is not actually being changed, but I don't see the point in this feature as it only brings in more confusion.

The masking doesn't have to show up in Auction House, GTS, and other things like that for obvious reasons.

It's more for something that would show for yourself and other people that happen to view your Pokemon's summary.

Just because I want to mask my shiny male Salandit into a female doesn't mean it's going to evolve into the shiny Salazzle I want. This won't really change that minority of people going for shinies with whatever biological sex they want on them, just pretty moot lol.

this idea isnt that great in my opinion... pokemon are either no gender, female, or male its literally how they are made by nintendo themself and this is a pokemon site where we celebrate the idea of pokemon and i feel like we should stick to how they are made (by nintendo may i add). although i support LGBTQ ideas and enjoy thier company on the site, i feel like strides towards a better future can be made without implementing this idea.

I also think that if this idea IS implemented, it would be very difficult to keep up with all of the genders (since i believe that there are many genders that people would want thier pokemon to identify as) that users want to implement into the site. it just seems messy and confusing and pretty difficult in the long run

I can't necessarily support nor not support.

I agree with ilovcows on this with the idea of it being difficult in the long run, even as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I feel like it would be difficult with the gender-differences in the sprites as well [such as Male/Female Pyroar].

I would like to add that PokeHeroes and other Pokemon [adoptable] sites have gone against Nintendo's "Guide" per se with Event Pokemon and non-cannon Mega Evolutions, even PokeFarm creating Albino Pokemon, so I could see the idea of this being more for Event Pokemon rather a sitewide feature for nearly every Pokemon.

I would still stick to my opinion, it would just bring in more confusion. It Just seems unnecessary in many ways. Like Iluvcows said, there's a million different identifications to look for. And on a side note, how many times is it possible to gender mask a particular pokemon? If its similar as nickname, that would mean unlimited right?

Didn't I say its a drastic overstatement I had no other example

Also I didn't really understand the breeding mechanism
A gender masked male breeds with a male or a female?
If it's female, then the feature is OP
If it's male, then practically the breeding chances should go down.

Unlimited.

Also, I'll put it out in big letters for you.

I said everything I had to, not saying anything else about the suggestion, or answering any further questions. Riako can either decide to trash this, or consider using the idea in any way he wishes to.

I kinda think the meaning of this suggestion was lost somewhere? Idk, I don't get the arguments made, whatever it is, it's childish and shouldn't be here.

I just think it'd be a neat idea for legendary Pokemon- in case your consider it a certain gender, yknow? Not changing the mechanics of course, but just a neat little feature in case it was implemented.
Can't say I'm interested past that, though, unfortunently. So I'm not sure what to vote for. I'd love to have the feature to set something like my Rayquaza to female, as her name suggests, but it's also just a user preference, I suppose. We can't be getting too terribly complicated.
