Don't you just love when you decide to re-do a character entirely and now you have to re-write every parts of the chapters

same, meme

also, when you find a better name for a character and have to replace all the instances of the old name. /D i recently found more fitting names for a heck ton of my municipal areas and had to change all of that and half-remake the map. rest in peacE

@somebody
Do you work on google docs?? If so, there's a way to mass-change words. I recently had to do that and discovered the little tool. ^^

@meme I have that issue! I had a story and I mixed up two character's names cause they were so similar [on paper four years ago] so I had to fix that.

Mood.

Ugh, I do that all the time.
I'll pick a character, then change something about them, whether it be appearance or name, and then I have to redo half my story because lines just don't fit anymore.
I really wanna go back a redo parts of AWNROP (which I need to update again, oops--) but since I kinda promised it was a make-it-all-up-as-I-go-along story I can't exactly change half the characters--

@ Dragi

yeah! i do, when i'm not writing by hand. i'm glad that google docs and tools like it usually have a "find and replace" button somewhere. the annoying part is when you have a lot of separate documents that need rewriting, or something drawn (e.g., a map ref or character ref) that can't be changed as easily. ;w;

@Somebody
Oh god, changing a drawn character is EXTREMELY annoying! I've changed Rogen so many times, she's been human three times, a bird, a dog, a cat, a fennec fox, and is now an odd combination of a bunch of animals, but I drew every. Single. Form. Changing her appearance left so many of her pictures outdated and it took forever to find all her refs and change them each time.

@Somebody
Oooo, that is painful. I don't often write stuff down, except my ideas, so I don't really have that problem, but I can imagine the issues of changing characters' names and stuff. I usually play around with my characters a lot before beginning a story, so most of them are set in stone. There was this one time, though, where my friends and I were writing this story (in sixth grade, and not even half of us had written a novel before... so you can imagine how bad the story was and the intense bickering between us), and my other writing friend decided she didn't like the name of the female character, the protag's love interest. So, I suggested Paige, and Paige it was... for awhile. Then, randomly, I came back to the doc and found that the name had been changed to Cat. C-A-T. Not K-A-T. Okay, okay, whatever, I'll just go back, use the find and replace tool to change it to Paige.

The Paige-like foxes stared at me, their eyes wide with curiosity.

I may or may not have forgotten that the word 'cat,' as in the mammalian quadruped, was used a lot of times as well, maybe even as often as the character's name was. So, sentences like... that were literally everywhere. Eventually, we settled on the name Cynthia, but the name never sat well with me, since I can only think of a Cynthia as the champion of the Sinnoh region, not our darker-skinned, black-haired female protag.

So, yeah. I'm so sorry. That was so long

@Reckless
;o; Wow! That's difficult... I've only changed species once that I can remember off the top of my head. I had this idea for a male, human thief, but then his character changed completely and heavy-coat-wearing, gruff thief he was no longer.
I changed him to a bipedal cat lol

I have a really bad habit of changing human characters to animals and animal characters to human in different stories just because I want to.
I confuse so many people--

Honestly, I never really change characters all that much. Sometimes I add to them, but after I think of something I like, it's set. Except maybe with Leona, I changed the reason she had a connection with Gaster a lot of times, but I hadn't written any stories with her :'D

Dang, Phoenix. I change my characters too much.
In AWNROP, I'm literally changing Rogen into at least 3 completely different forms which is probably going to confuse any of my readers before I explain.

Okay, so, in the notes of my IPod, I have an AU idea for YanSim that I want to write on? I don't know if this is the right club or not but, anyhoo, I'm gonna share it in the spoiler cause it's long!

Show hidden content
Medieval AU
(Roles)
King - ???
Queen - ???
Princess - Hinako, Osana (Adoptive)
Prince - Taro
Prince's Guards - Ayano, Megami
Playwriter - Kizana
Librarian - Info-chan, Oka
Royal Chef - Amai
(Summary)
Long, long ago, there was the Yamada Monarchy of Akedemi. Taro and Hinako Yamada are the current heirs to the throne. When Taro gets a new guard, Ayano, things become a bit strange. Around others, Ayano is confident, but around Taro, Ayano becomes so flustered she can't form a sentience. Little does Taro know Ayano loves him! Will Ayano be able to tell the prince how she feels be? Or will Ayano be left behind for another girl, fated to be only a guard?

Yes, I know there were Yamadas in real life history. The last name of the main character's love interest in the original universe of this AU is Yamada, and the school they go to is Akedemi High, so I tried to figure out how to do that in this AU.
(Design)

Hinako:
[image]
Hinako looks almost identical to her original counterpart, but instead of the uniform, she wears a pink sparkley princess dress

Osana:
[image]
Osana's hair is similar to her original counterpart, but not identical. Otherwise, she is the same. Her dress is a coral color

Ayano:
[image]
Ayano looks similar to her original counterpart, biologically. She normally is in armor, and has a sword or dagger or some weapon with her.

Megami
[image]
Her silver hair is natural, thanks for asking. She is identical to her original counterpart, except for her armor and weapon.

Kizana
[image]
We... just aren't gonna question her hair color. Okay? Okay! She's identical to her original counterpart except for the uniform. She wears a fluffy near-princess dresss

Info-Chan
[image]
We don't question why she has glasses in medieval! She does! She has a pale blue tee shirt and a dark blue skirt. She's pale skinned and she has reddish-orange eyes.

Oka
[image]
She's almost the same as her original counterpart. The only difference is the outfit. This Oka wears a black dress and black flats. She still has her spider web gloves.

Amai
[image]
Amai is the same except for her outfit, which is a teal dress

(Personalities)
This also has a bit about the character that just flowed off the 'pen' and onto the 'paper'.

Hinako - Cheerful and bubbly! Always excited! She's like a puppy! Everyone loves her! Protect her!
Osana - Still a Tsundere, just a little more formal about it (now that she's a princess and all)
Taro - He's... sweet, but knows little to nothing about girls. Especially about Ayano. He just thinks she freaks out because he's a prince. Definitely would cry or lose some sanity if Hinako or Osana disappeared.
Ayano - Ayano, in this AU, is completely sane. She's confident around almost everyone except Taro. Around Taro, she's nothing more than a shy schoolgirl with a crush.
Megami - When Ayano is shy or nervous, Megami more than makes up for confidence for the two of them. But around Kizana, Megami acts flustered and embarrassed.
Kizana - Kizana acts snobbish in front of others, but is often shy and prefers the company of the characters she creates in the plays she writes. She seems to enjoy Megami's company, though.
Info-chan - Info-chan is secretive, and the only people to have seen her face are Oka and Ayano.
Oka - Oka is shy and rarely talks to anyone. She is often found reading a book, or helping someone else find a book.
Amai - Amai is sweet, kind, and a little naive. She can come off as idiotic at times.

(Origin/Credit)

The origin of this AU was a comment on their own art on a website:
I'd ship them if she wasn't crazy.
(They, being Taro and Ayano. She being Ayano.)
For those who don't know what shipping is in this context, shipping means to wish they become a couple. You might draw art of your ship, might write stories of your ship together!
Anyway, this AU came from the thought 'What if there was an AU where Ayano wasn't insane!'
My first thought after that was:
AU where Taro is a prince and Ayano is his bodyguard and is sane.
Now, the original universe that has been mentioned so many times is a game I watch YouTubers play called Yandere Simulator. (For those who know what it is, the themes fly over my head. I watch anime. I watch YouTubers play it because it's funny. Mostly Best Friend's origin YouTuber.) It's still in debug, and there are lots of bugs. Like, a lot a lot. Like, all one of the ten rivals haven't been implemented yet (YanDev is working very hard on implementing Osana, though!) YanDev is the main (and only) developer for the game, so don't go find his Twitter and be like:
Why Osa-chan no done!!!1!1!1!1!1!!!!11!!!!eleven!

woah technology!

Edit: By write on, I mean make a story for.

Edit 2: I canz BeBerCerd

Double posting but shh, no one will know

I have a very serious problem that every writer faces from time to time.
The dreaded writer's block
Which really sucks because I haven't updated AWNROP in days and I feel like I'm letting down my readers. Ok, I doubt I have readers, more like I'm letting down myself.
So here's the question(s?). How do I get over writer's block? There has to be a way, right? And probably a slightly more helpful question that won't get answered as much because no one reads my stuff cause Im trash, what should I do for the next chapter? Should I finish off Cyanide, continue Discord's perspective on things, cut to a new (more mysterious) character, show what's happening with Mahalo and Makau, or even make another part on Rogen and Arbon? The possibilities are endless, and honestly? It's probably not helping my writer's block that I can't choose one.
See, I wanna write, but I physically can't. I don't know what's wrong, but every time I get writer's block I really want to write, but the sentences, paragraphs, they come out wrong, my inspiration leaves me, and I give up.
What should I do?

Mostly just doing this so I can feel slightly better about myself, and to force myself to actually finish that story I put on hold for months now...I feel awkward

And yet you still call them your friends
Thats a sad life you're living

@Reckless
I haven't had a chance to read AWNROP, but I'll see if I can squeeze in a few chapters later. :0

Writer's block is the worst thing in the entire universe. Okay, maybe not the worst, but you get my point. I have so much experience with this terrible affliction, seeing as I've probably written more this month than I have for the whole other part of the year. When I suffer from it, I usually wallow in misery, drop the project for years, come back to it, and then rewrite the whole thing. HOWEVER, I know that's not a healthy approach, and probably wouldn't be prescribed by a professional.

What I would do is take a step back from your project. Look at what you want to write. Really focus on it. Try writing a little of it. If it's still not working, back up again. Repeat.

If this doesn't work for you, set a timer for thirty minutes and an amount of words you want to write. Let's say your goal is 1k words in 30 minutes... ready, set, go! It's a great way to get words flowing, and it's a motivational game I like to play with myself. wow that came out really lonely

Another thing that you can do that might be a little long-term is take a break from your current writing project and shift to another one. Keep writing it, and wait until you really, really want to pick up your current writing project again. Then you'll be refreshed and eager!

Finally, if none of those work for you, just blast through that tough part. Sit yourself down, say to yourself that you are going to write this piece, and even if it comes out horribly, keep going. You'll find that your writer's block begins to go away. The rough patches might need some editing, but that is the biggest part of writing!

The second and fourth suggestions are what I use to overcome writer's block a lot! Sometimes, my writer's block gets so bad that I have to scrap a project that I've been working on for a while. It's hard to tell between oh, I hate writing this part and oh, I hate writing this piece.

Anyways, I think I've found out that I like posting super long things here so enjoy my rambling-ness. :P

When I find I have writer's block for a story on wattpad, I'll go watch a few episodes of Invader Zim or something (whatever the fanfic on there is about). But even that doesn't work sometimes, I have had major writers block for a few months now on a story that I was originally really excited about.

Then, there comes the out-of-order writer's block (which I get frequently). That's when you have a REALLY GOOD IDEA for ONE part of a story, but the other parts are just lost to you. That's why I asked about story plotting or whatever--to see if you guys write the story in order. I do not. Like... At all. I have the ending of a current fanfiction completely finished... But I'm only two chapters in.
