good luck everyone!!

@Atavan
Other than some little grammar mistakes and commas missing that Skar pointed it, it seems great! I can't stop seeing Death as one of my own old characters who was more more like Fate and it's messing with my head--

@Somebody
It's totally elligable! It will be read later with the rest of the entries.
On a side note, I'm thinking of ideas for the next contest and it'seither going to be:
-Write a fanfic of your otp
-Write a story from the perspective of a teddy bear
-Create your own species and explain what they look like, how they're classified, what they eat, everything about them. Then explain why they went extinct.
Which do you guys like the best?
A fanfic of your otp sounds good to me though. That's what I'd go with [though I'm still waiting for a theme only contest where only the genre or theme (eg. happiness, loss, depression, ...) is given since that leaves more space for your creative thoughts].
Good point. Maybe the next contest will only be one word, like a feeling or theme or something, and you'll be able to make your own story out of it.
I'd love to do simply "Loss" for the next one, and that way there's a little more creative freedom. After all, everyone interperets things differently, right?
With "the next one" you mean the one coming now or the one after?
Also yes; that's exactly what makes "themed" contests much more interesting than the onces with given criteria.
With the word Loss, to take that plus your first two suggestions as example, you could still write a story about your otp - for example how they had a fight and lost each other; but eventually got back together again (depending on the one writing it). Or you could write a story out of the POV of a teddy bear who was the favourite toy of a kid but was forgotten over time and therefore "lost".
But you could also write a piece that includes your very own characters. There's basically no limitations except for the theme "Loss".
I like having prompts that are a bit more structured. I love a challenge, and thinking outside of the box is thrilling and, for lack of a better word, different. So, let's say, the next week's prompt was humor. My jokes are dumb, and usually all I get is awkward silence when I make the stupid decision to crack one. It would be a challenge to write a humorous piece, but you can be sure I'd take it up!
I really love open-ended prompts (on FlightRising, there's this thing called 'So You Think You Can Write,' and it's basically a bunch of writers writing each other's open-ended prompts), I really do. I just think that more specific prompts can be more challenging, however, and I think that's what prompts are supposed to do.
I just thought I'd throw my voice into the mix with everyone! ^^
also, hooray final-day sudden prompt writing. I might try to fit something in, but my family wants to go to the pool for hours and I have no idea how good it's going to be. help me
EDIT:
@Somebody
Wow! I read your Fantasy-Land entry and it was stunning! The beginning description of her room was beautiful! Great job!
Also, just wanna share a piece of practice that I usually do when I want to write something! I go and ask people around to give me three different and completely unrelated nouns, then I think of how to connect them in a story. A friend of mine gave me the words, "Me (like, me, the writer), Guardian, and Gelatin." I came up with a poem about self-esteem and insecurities lmao. It's super obscure though bc I like having my readers guess the meaning!

A child and their guardian sit on opposite ends of a square table.
A gelatin on a plate rests in the middle.
What do you think happens next? Encircle the letter of the best answer.
B.)
The child reaches for the gelatin.
The Guardian shakes their head, pulls the plate towards themselves, and eats it.
C.)
The child hesitates to reach for the gelatin.
The Guardian doesn't notice the hesitation and eats the gelatin whole.
D.)
The child says they prepared the gelatin.
The Guardian refuses to eat it and throws the plate to the child's face.
E.)
The child says they prepared the gelatin.
The Guardian takes it, stands, and leaves without coming back.
-
There are many instances this situation could turn out.
However, the realistic choice is often overlooked.
A.)
The Child and the Guardian cut the gelatin in half.
The two have a pleasant afternoon.
out of the three, i would definitely vote for the teddy bear one! the OTP one might not work as well because not everyone would be familiar with whatever fandoms would be used, and for me, the last one is maybe not open-ended enough.
i also really like the idea of a short or one-word prompt - like a feeling and a location, etc. so that has my vote as well, haha!
@Dragi
:0 i'm glad you enjoyed it! thanks for your feedback, i appreciate it!
