So I’m aliiivvveeeee and have nothing to give but bad constructive criticism

@Kit woooooah I missed your art you dweeb

@flowerDragonStarry

Hey! If it’s ok for me to say, I think that the ahem breasts are too low on the body of the first and far too low on the second. If you look on a human body, the middle of them is about half way down the upper arm. So if you start there, you can develop your art further! Again, crappy adviiice, but I was there a few years ago. Both my parents took art courses when I was like three, so they know a bit about anatomy to help out. But otherwise, the wings on the first price are awesome, and I like the Frankenstein’s Monster vibe on the second piece!

@FlowerDragonStarry Uh hey! Two or three things: First (and I am not mini modding just try a remember the rules on this site) you double posted, which isn’t allowed on forums. Second, wow! I can see an improvement already! Literally just changing that small thing makes it look more I’m proportion! Thirdly, more advice! I am legit just trying to think of everything my art teacher told us this year ok so. I want to say two things. First off, on the first picture, you drew the girl with a hand on her hip, but I have small question. If you go look in the mirror and recreate the pose, what does it look like? The most likely outcome is that your thumb is there, but it’s not at the front of the hand, it’s slightly to the back. Now, hands are a pain in the behind to draw, but if you literally just draw figures like that for ages, they’ll come slightly easier. And now... the body as a whole. This is proportional stuff right here, and I just want to say, I can’t draw for my life, I don’t think anything I do is good or in proportion or whatever, so feel free to say practice what you preach. Now, it’s mainly the arms that are bothering me, so I’ll cut to the chase. They’re too short. If you look at your own body, your arms and hands reach juuuust above your knees. So extend them to about there. The second thing is that the head is too big/shoulders are too small. Now, I get that this is your art style, and it’s meant to be kind of anime and chino and cute, but it’s sort of bugging me. Your head can fit seven times into your body. There are loads of YouTube things that explain this better than I do, but basically your head, if you turn it 90 degrees from studs to side to touch your shoulders, you’ll see that they’re the same size. So bring down the size of the head slightly, and extend the shoulders. And wow this is the longest but of writing I’ve done on a while. Sorry.

@*constellation*
You were commenting on FlowerDragonStary not me

I didn't double post, I think you misread or something.
I last posted on the top of this page and I believe the only time before that was at least two or three posts before.

Sorry if I'm being rude or misunderstanding something, I'm just saying that I'm Fawnstar, not FlowerDragon.

Also, wow you guys have awesome art!
@Furret
I love that thumb!

@FlowerDragon
It looks great, but the legs do seem a bit chunky

Oh my, you guys posted a lot of interesting art these days. I hope no one´s mad at me for not commenting on everyone´s art. I´ll just pick a few ones for now and try to be a little more active here. Finally. I´m just too busy, ugh.

@ T_C_D_L, Wow, these pixelarts look amazin. I mean, I have only a little knowledge about how pixelart works but I´m pretty impressed about how clean yours look. I especially like the second, the red dragon, the most. And you put a lot of effort in the scales on the first pixelart. Very well done!

@Fawnstar, your anatomy is quite good. The proportions are on point. Only her feet seem to be a tad long and flat. I´d say the finger´s positions are correct, they just appear to have no visible joints. I do know how to draw hands, and believe me when I say it´s the thing I struggle the most with. Anatomy tutorials may help you! Try to look at as many as possible and look for stock images of real hands. They help you to understand the hand´s anatomy a little better!

@Kit, OH MY GOD. I haven´t seen your art in a while (I think... I mean I can´t really remember the last time) and wow, you made a lot of progress. Really. I love the way you drew and colored the hair. Her eyes are so pretty as well!

@FlowerDragonStary, I think *constellation* already gave you a lot of feedback. And she had some good points. I´m not going to put any more critique in here for now.

@Furri, *re-thumbs* :´D (a pretty well drawn thumb, though!)

Now, my art:

Icon for Ilima/Aki

Icon for a very good friend (off-site)

Omg, I wish I could criticize like you guys can. I suck at doing this >.<

@FlowerDragon I like the character's designs for all three characters you drew, The colors aren't an eyesore to look at. But just asking, on the second picture, are the character's eyes naturally big like that on purpose? I think it covers up too much too much of one side of her head if it wasn't meant to be.

@Furret That thumb looks absolutely wonderful~ Is this part of a guide or something?

@Katakuri I adore the shading of your art, not to forget to mention that both characters fit with the backgrounds they are given as well. I just love backgrounds <3

Sorry if I didn't catch you, but time to post something I doodles of my new Pokesona Mirror. And owie, I forgot the little fur that sticks out on the top of her head.

You feel a disturbing something at the end of this signature. . .

@Ropets - Nah those are just my notes from my Life Drawing class. That thumb is a portrait of well, literally my own thumb, lol. I drew it for an 'excersize' we did yesterday. We were learning about things like contour lines, chiaroscuro, calligraphic lines, etc.

Basically the goal was to draw our thumb(s) and figure out where the line would thin and where the line would thicken because this helps show shading and weight in a piece, without actually have to shade it, because as you can see this is just a refined sketch with no shading whatsoever.

It was actually a pretty cool thing. I'm sure I'll be posting some more of my work from that class on here.

hellooo i have been super dead!! and instead of digital art i have some traditional art for once.

[Tamamo no Mae from FGO]

onto the critiques!

@Fawnstar:
The drawing's super nice! I think everyone else has already touched upon what you should work on though, so I'll refrain.

@Kit:
Ayy, I haven't seen your art in a while either. It's awesome, though kind of sketchy.

@FlowerDragonStary:
Your art is super cute, but I've noticed that you tend to draw heads a bit too small and the limbs (specifically feet) very large. You might want to try and find more of a balance there. Don't be afraid to look up drawing references! This is a tip that applies to everyone, but tagging "anime" or "drawing" to the end of your reference search (i.e. "anime torso" or "torso drawing" ) will bring up drawn references. Drawn references are often more easy to work with than realistic ones.

@Furret:
Nice thumb (Y) . No particular critique or whatnot for this one, it's very well drawing.

@Katakuri:
I really, really like your art style! It's super clean and the lines are bold; in general, very pleasing to look at. However, I think the jaw of the second drawing looks a bit strange, specifically the bottom part of the jaw. It should be showing more of the inside of the mouth rather than outside, if you know what I mean? Kind of more like this. Other than that, they're both fantastic pieces.
