I am trying to obtain a Magnemite egg from Greg the GC. I have 34 electric and 29 steel gems (more than the required 25 of each) and am currently in possession of a Magnezone. I have ordered exactly one egg from him in the past, a Paras. The Paras was one that was not in my Egg Dex, so I shouldn't be having problems ordering the Magnemite for that reason. I search it and use the drop-down menu to ask for the Magnemite. No matter what I do, he says he cannot deliver that egg to me. How do I fix this?

And before anyone asks, no, my party is not full. I have not tried to order with any more than three spots filled, meaning I have always had a minimum of 3 available spaces for him to give me the egg.

I'm assuming it's because you don't have a Magnemite. Magnezone won't count as a Magnemite after all.
The Paras prolly worked because you had/have one; you don't need the eggdex to get eggs from Greg.

Problem is I didn't have a Paras ever. I had a Parasect, but that's why I wanted the Paras egg; I needed it to complete my Pokedex because I had never held a Paras. Ever. I have had a Magnemite, but it is the one that I evolved into Magneton and on to Magnezone. That's what's confusing. The ONLY difference between these is the Pokemon I am using; otherwise, unless I'm missing something, the situation is exactly the same, but I can't get the Magnemite.

Nobody else has posted, and getting answers doesn't normally take this long. Does that mean that nobody has a solution or that the people that have solutions just haven't looked?

This is actually false, you can buy eggs from the Gem Collector granted you have one of the Pokemon from the Evolutionary Line and they aren't Special Rarity.

I also am able to purchase a Magnemite egg though I've only got Magneton.

But I can't really get a grip as to why you can't buy your egg. Could you perhaps provide (a) screenshot(s) of this for us?

What exactly is he saying when he tells you he can't give you your egg?

Something I've noticed, when I didn't have Porygon, but did have a Porygon2, is that I could buy Porygon Eggs, but they appeared on the numerical place of Porygon2. They appeared as if Porygon was #233, instead of (correctly) on #137.

It could also be the reason that the 'search' function doesn't work.

If you simply scroll all the way to #462, as if that is the EggDex of Magnemite, do you see Magnemite there?

Thank you for the suggestions. I am unable to upload the images that were requested, though I might be able to do it if someone could tell me how =)

Anyway, Greg says, and I quote, "Sorry, I can't get you this kind of egg!"

CatLady, I also tried your suggestion. When I looked at the list, Magnemite showed up as #81, as it is supposed to. There is no entry at #462, just a blank space of many numbers where it should be, so nothing to click. I had a non-player looking over my shoulder at the time, and he couldn't find it either. It just wasn't in Magnezone's spot.

Any other suggestions? This really puts a damper on my progress to Kanto Dex.

This may or may not be a bug, but I think it'd be more helpful if you could upload some screenshots.

You can download a software here or simply use the built in Snip Tool (for Windows) or Command + Shift + 4 (for Mac OS X). Upload your screenshots on that website and post the links here so we can all see.

Meanwhile you could still get Magnemite by trading with other users or buying from the Auction House :)

I never said it doesn't work, only that it could be a possible reason why it didn't work in this particular case.

I remember distinctly that, when I searched a pokémon that I only had an evolution of, I had to search for the evolved form, and not the base form; I had to search "Pikachu" to get a Pichu egg, when I didn't have a Pichu.

So it could explain why searching 'Magnemite' gave no results, when she only had an evolved form.
(I'm not saying that's still the case, but it was the case back in the beginning, if memory serves)

-Find the search
-Confirm choice
-Failure

Since it was brought up:
-No Magnezone

If it is a bug, who would I report to?

one think i noticed is that that magnemite and porgon both are gender less so maybe there is some relation

@darlightx - But I didn't have any trouble getting Porygon eggs, it just wasn't listed where I expected it to be. The same also happened to Pichu (not being where I expected it to be, because evolved), but I had no problems whatsoever ordering an egg of either.

The (only) way to report a bug, is by posting in the bug-forum, so I'll just move this there, as this is already a bug report ;)

As of today I attempted to get a Tyrogue and had the same problem. Greg simply will not give me the egg, but there is no explanation for why. Is there anything I can do?

It won't solve the Gem problem, but for Tyrogue you can just put your Hitmon in the DayCare with another female 'Human-like' pokémon. It's not genderless, so other pokémon from the same egg group should work, as a temporary solution.

Im having this issue as well with Tyrogue. I have the gems and the excess space and the gem collector will not give me the egg. He appears in the drop down menu at the right spot but it won't give me one

Bump, this bug wasn't solved I'm afraid.
You still cannot get the eggs from Tyrogue.
