While wandering through the forest one day you take a wrong turn and end up rather lost. As you are trying to find your way back to the path, all of a sudden an oddly coloured phantump jumps out of a nearby bush! His green hues and leafy stump seem to make it easier for him to blend into the summer-time foliage on the trees.
The shy spirit seems just as surprised as you are at first, but then gives you a wink. “Wanna go on a treasure hunt?” he asks, then beckons and starts drifting away, further into the forest.

Ahhhh, ghost! Click here to run awaaaaay!
OR
Interesting! Keep reading and follow the phantump!

After following the phantump for a few minutes, you come to a massive jumble of rocks and boulders, covered in leafy vines. A strange symbol is carved into the rock, and the phantump goes right to them, then seems to disappear! A few seconds later his head pops out from behind the vines and you realize that there is a cave hidden behind the vines. He beckons you once again.

Creepy! Click here to run awaaaaay!
OR
Cool! Keep reading and go into the cave!

Well, you’ve come this far, you might as well keep going. Pushing the vines aside reveals a reasonably sized entrance into a large cave with several tunnels leading from it. Lanterns line the walls, providing a warm, flickering light. In the center of the cave is a large signpost, with various signs pointing in the directions of the tunnels. A few notice boards are hanging on the walls, and you notice the phantump floating next to one of them labeled “Rules”.
“Welcome to the Cache Hunters Club!” the phantump exclaims happily, “I’m Tealmer, and I’ve got heaps to show you, but first we need to go over the rules to make sure everyone has a good time.”

- Follow all PH rules

- Be nice, don't laugh at others for making mistakes, asking questions or not having many finds. Everyone was a beginner once.

- If you want to join, please use the form.

- Do not spoil exact locations for caches, this includes the virtual caches in "Challenges".

- In regards to contests, the judges decisions will be final - no exceptions.

- No mini-modding. There are currently no mini-mods for this club as I feel that we don't need any at this point. If you have an issue with someone regarding the club then PM me. The pas word is TFTC. If it is a serious issue (breaking PH rules for example) then contact a PH mod.

- If you have any issues regarding the club, feel free to contact JustMe via PM.

Tealmer nods approvingly as you finish reading the rules.
“Oh, I just realized… You do know what Geocaching is, right? If you don’t you can have a look at this board and it will tell you all about the best treasure hunt in the world!” Tealmer points towards another board. “But if you already know then we can skip that bit and keep going.”

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.

To get started, first you need to create an account at www.geocaching.com. The basic account is free, though there is a premium account you can pay for if you want. Next you need a way to locate the caches. The easiest way to do this is through your phone with the official geocaching app, which is free to download. Once you have that you can look up any caches in your area and the app will show you where to go to find them.

Geocaches come in a variety of shapes, sizes and difficulties. They will contain a log-book of some kind for you to sign, and might also have some little knick-knacks (known as swag) that you can trade for. If you find some swag you want to take with you, you need to leave something of equal or greater value for the next person. Please always leave the cache exactly how you found it, and make sure the lid is on properly so rain doesn't get in.

If you have more questions you can check out the guide from the website, or post your question here and someone is sure to help.

SUMMER EVENT!

It's finally here! The event you have been waiting for!
...
What do you mean you haven't been waiting for it?
...
Well, it's here anyway, whether you were waiting for it or not!

This summer we are getting into the spirit of the season, celebrating the best parts of summer and also the release of the relatively new Emera Beach. The event is split into 2 parts, traditional and virtual. You can choose to enter in both, or just one (or none if you really want, but there's no prizes for that!). This event runs from today until the 31st of August 23:59 (PH time).

TRADITIONAL

One of my favourite things to do in the summer is cool off in the water, whether it be at the beach, in a river or lake, or at the local pools. For this part of the event, your job is to find a geocache that is near water of some kind. It could be any type of water, from any source (man-made or natural). Then simply snap a picture of the cache and the water and post it here. All entrees will get a small participation prize, and will go in the draw to win a big prize. Each cache you submit a picture of gets you another slot in the raffle, so if you find 20 caches you get 20 entrees.
Please try not to show to much detail about the actual location of the cache, no spoilers please!

VIRTUAL

The virtual section of this event is helping to celebrate the new Emera beach that our wonderful PH staff have given us. Your job here is to find and catch one each of the pokemon that can be caught at the beach. When you have caught them all PM me a list of them, with links to each pokemon. As with the traditional section, each person who completes this task will get a small participation prize and will go in the draw for a big prize. You can enter again each time you get a full set of pokemon. The pokemon must be caught after 09/Jul/2016 08:17:30 (PH time), previous catches do not count. Please see this post for a full list of Emera beach pokemon.

Happy Hunting!

“You look like you’re ready to start hunting! Did you know that you can find caches hidden right here on Pokeheroes? Outdoor caching is always more fun, but if you can’t get outside for a while then the Challenge Room is definitely the place to be. You can hunt for virtual caches here at varying levels of difficulty, and earn a few badges while you’re at it.”

Show hidden content

Each "cache" is a location on PH that I have taken a small screenshot of. To find the cache you need to discover the exact location the screenshot was taken. There are 3 different levels - easy, medium and hard. The main thing that determines a caches difficulty level is it's size. The harder the level is the smaller the cache will be. Hard caches also tend to have less detail and could be found on pages that aren't used very often. You do not need to have premium to find all of them, but you might need to gain a few trainer levels to access some of the areas the caches are hidden in.

Please DO NOT spoil the locations of the caches!

Once you have found enough caches for a badge you can PM me, tell me where you think they are all hidden, and then you will receive a badge. You need to be as specific as possible, for example, "Easy #35 is the top of the Chespin sprite on the Kalos Egg gem page." Please don't PM every single time you find 1 cache, only PM me once you have enough for a badge.

Can you find all 75 and become a Challenge Cache Master?

Easy Challenge Caches

Medium Challenge Caches

Hard Challenge Caches

“Well, our tour here is almost finished. We just have one last tunnel, which leads to the Contest Room! The title is pretty self-explanatory really, this is where we hold all of our contests. There are all sorts of contests, for things like cache-finding, art and writing, swag design etc. And, of course, contests mean prizes! Let’s see if there’s one on at the moment.”

Tealmer Art Contest!

Our club mascot needs some art! As summer has arrived in Emera, Tealmer has changed into his grren, leafy form. In this contest you need to create as piece of art that shows Tealmer out enjoying the summer sun. It doesn't have to include a geocaching reference, but as this is a geocaching club you will have a higher chance of winning if you do.

Categories

There are 4 categories that you can enter. You can enter as many categories as you like, but one entry per category. For example, you could enter 1 piece in traditional and 1 in digital, but you can't enter 2 pieces in traditional. I hope that makes sense.
Traditional - Must be drawn entirely without digital devices. Any traditional medium can be used, eg pencils, paints, crayons, pastels. No digital effects or editing except for re-sizing or cropping. Art can be scanned or photographed in high quality. Blurry or unfocused images will have a lower chance of winning.
Digital - Must be drawn entirely using a digital device such as computer or tablet. Digital brushes/textures are allowed but must not be the main focus of the image. Images must be static (no gifs) and sprites are not allowed. Image must be made entirely by you, use of official pokemon art is not allowed.
Sprites - Must be no larger than 200 by 200 pixels. Using official pokemon sprites as a base is allowed, or you can make your sprite from scratch, but you must not use sprites made by others, even as a base. No gifs.
Moving Images(gifs) - Image must move or change in some way, eg character blinking, wings flapping, background changing. Can be any style of digital art, including sprites. Using official pokemon sprites as a base is allowed, or you can make your sprite from scratch, but you must not use sprites made by others, even as a base.

Rules

- Entries close on the 7th of August at 23:59, PH time.

- Art must include Tealmer in his summer form, doing something related to summer.

- No art theft. That means no editing others art and no tracing. You cannot use official pokemon art, except official sprites as a base in that category.

- Judges decision is final. No whining or complaining if you don't win, and no negative comments about any of the other entries.

- Use the form.

- You can only submit 1 entry per category, but you cane enter as many categories as you like. Include the words "summer fun" in the 'other' section of the form.

- Each entry must have a separate form, but more than one form can be included in a post.

Form

I want to enter the art contest!
Username
Category
Image
Description of image
Other

Prizes

Each category will have a first-place winner and a runner-up. They will each receive a prize pack containing things such as pd, nuggets, boxes/keys, plushies and shiny hunts. More prizes might be added later, depending on the number and quality of the entries.

“So, that’s our club. If you have any questions just ask. If you’d rather ask in private you can PM JustMe, she’s always happy to help. Especially if it’s related to Geocaching! Well, I’m off to find some more Geocaches. I’ll see you around

Happy Caching!”

Welcome to the club, Navuso! Geocaching is a lot of fun, you'll be hooked in no time! Don't hesitate to ask any questions you have about it, I'll be happy to help. :D

And yes, it's amazing some of the nature you come across when you go out caching. I, for example, discovered an entire public reserve just 15 minutes from my house that I never even knew existed, and I've lived here for nearly 10 years!

Edit: Oh, and could you edit out your password please. Thanks c:

I'm currently looking up GeoCaches that I can get to down in the woods where I am every weekend to save them to my phone <3

If nothing else, most of them are easy enough to get to on a four-wheeler down there, as I'm keeping to ones really close by. There's also a tiny one located up at the corner of the street from where I live. Though I'll need to find something to bring with me to get to it, it seems, lol.

And when I'm at the cookout, if there's any nearby, I might take a little walk while the rest of the family is socilizing. I'll just need to be careful with the battery life of my phone, since the GPS will eat up my battery. (30 minutes and it's down 20%, so yeah, lol)

This seems like something that'll be a lot of fun to look up, and I'll need to consider hiding some. I even know where one of the Geocaches are because there's only one house anywhere nearby with the plant that they have it hidden by <3

If it weren't 5:20 in the morning and dark out, and I didn't have a cook out to head to in four hours, I'd be running up the road to start the hunt, lol.

Ah yes, phone battery is one of the troubles with caching. I have a couple of portable charger thingies that I take with me when I'm doing several caches in a day. Also, I tend to take note of the general location beforehand so I only need to turn on the app when I'm reasonably close, then turn it off again on my way to the next cache.

I also know the feeling of wanting to get started straight away. In three days I have 2 weeks of holiday from work, I have a whole lot of caching planned and I'm really impatient to get started, lol. I wanna go hunting now, but I still have 1 more day of work, plus 2 days babysitting before I get to go.

It sounds like you'll be finding your first cache fairly soon, it's a great feeling of excitement and accomplishment when you do. I kinda feel like a secret agent on a mission when I find one, lol, I'm such a big kid :P

My rather uneventful day:

Found a Cache that was supposed to be in the park that the cookout was. Couldn't find it, so I read the comments on it. Apparently the reason I couldn't find it is because someone before me found the first cache, and pushed it up out of reach so nobody else could get it, thus making the second one nearly impossible to find.

So that was not found at all.

So then I tried a 1 star difficulty one. Should be marked as a 4 star or above difficulty because it was supposed to be around a trash bin. Well, it wasn't there, or anywhere outside, so I went inside and talked to one of the workers about it. His comment was "They're supposed to put it behind the trash bin, but they sometimes put it inside the store behind the books. We don't like it, but they do it."

So we looked around the store, back out by the trash bin, then went back to the store where the same guy said that it's possible that it was thrown away and no longer able to be completed.

So 0/2

However, in a few days my mom and I plan to head into town to do a few more searches. We have two down the street. One of which we think we know where it's located, due to needing tweezers to get it out. The other one is supposed to be really really easy, and the people who live there are nice, so it should be fun.

I can't wait to get to looking for them =D (Hopefully it won't be more duds :<)

Aww, that must have been so frustrating, especially for your first hunt! I hope you get better luck next time.

I haven't been unlucky enough so far to not find a cache I was looking for, though one cache I was looking for took me 45 minutes to find. Someone else had found it that very morning, so I knew it must have been there somewhere. The hint was very specific, so I was pretty sure I had found the right spot but there was nothing there. I was looking for ages then when I was just about to give up I turned and saw another spot that fitted the clue perfectly, just a few meters away, and it was there. I was lucky it was a fairly remote area so there were no muggles around looking at me suspiciously, lol. :P

Well, I found 5 of those during last Saturday/Sunday. I barely got my homework done in time. :,D For the last few days, I've maintained a steady one cache a day phasing.

I actually found two last night but I don't have enough height for the second one and it's located right beside a busy road in the middle of the city. So I gotta get up reaaaaal early either tomorrow or Sunday so there's not much traffic and get there with some extra height. Not sure what that'll be but I'll figure something out. :p

I'll probably get rid of this addiction once I've found all the cache's in a reasonable walking/biking (once I get my bike fixed) distance and the cold and snow comes. I'm just gonna hibernate the winter in my apartment and wait for the spring to go hunting caches again. xD

EDIT: Oh, and if the caches that I located in trees but couldn't get to them because of my acrophobia count, then I've found 13 so far. :,P

Lol, you might find it harder than you think to give it up ;)

And sorry, you have to sign the log for the cache to count ;)

In other news, I found my 17th cache today! It's one that I've been meaning to get for a while, but there were always too many people around. It is in a bushy area next to a playground, so it probably would look a bit suspicious crawling around there... My tactic? Go in the pouring rain! Thankfully it was a fairly easy find, so I didn't get too wet. :P

I've found early in the morning or late in the evening to be best geocaching times. Especially on weekends.

Also, my found caches count is now 19. I spent five and a half hours walking around town and hunting down caches since this morning. I found seven before my phone ran out of battery and I was cold and hungry anyway. On my way back to my apartment, I made a quick stop and logged a cache that I had spotted earlier when there was muggles around.

I had a fantastic day, one of the caches was on this natural reserve area and the place was awesome. Geocaching is a great way to get to know your city.

Wow, that sounds so cool! Yup, geocaching is great for discovering parts of your local area that you never knew were there. I've found several new places all within walking distance of my house all because of geocaching. It's incredible that I've lived in this small town for nearly 10 years and yet there are so many places here that I hadn't seen until I started caching.

After tomorrow I have 2 weeks of holiday, and I plan on spending 90% of that time geocaching (the other 10% o PH of course :P ) I'm so excited, I can't wait :D

Question of the Day:

Are you guys leaving anything inside caches? If so, what?

Nessy's answer: I generally leave coins right now, but I'm working on making small dolls (jujus) to put in the caches.

I haven't put anything in a cache, as of yet, but when I find one that I can put stuff into, I have pokemon charms, a few sealed pokemon card packs/decks, and I'm going to work on a few images that I will print off and laminate before putting them in some of the caches as my calling card. (These images will be signed on the back with a QR code for fun and an email under the code for if people want to contact me about finding them :3)

I'm also thinking of, if I find a large cache, putting in a plushie that my ex gave me into it. It's a cute leopard plushie, but I absolutely hate it solely because of who gave it to me, so doing this would give it a more loving home. Though, I'm debating whether I want to do that or if I want to get one of the tracking bugs and do that with it. (I'm thinking about getting a tracking bug and using it on a Shaymin plush I got from an event forever ago on Pokefarm, lol. I mean it's still in the bag that it came in, though I threw the box out forever ago...)

I have been making my own geocache swag using this method that I found on Pinterest. (Pinterest is a great place to find ideas for swag).

This is how mine came out:

On the back is my Geocaching username, which I'm not going to show here because most of the caches I've found are fairly close to my house...

They are great for swag because they can fit into most caches and won't get damaged if the cache gets flooded.

Dumb butt Navu here, just got back in from running errands and Geocaching for three hours.

Stopped by 7 places, found 5 =3 (And found a hidden treasure that wasn't for Geocachers, but was left there for anyone to find and take, which was a pair of adorable earrings <3)

Now, the reason I use the term dumb butt is this:
The last stop we did was the one I had wanted to do for my very first Geocache find. It's marked as a starter find. However, after finding more difficult ones, when I got there, I went right up to it and found it with no problem.

I left a pack of pokemon cards, sealed up, in the first cache I went to, then in every cache after that, I left a charm for the people in it. Leafeon, Deerling, Rotom, you know, just cute pokemon charms :3

I've also got a bunch of ideas for hiding Caches now, just need to find the locations to match the ideas.

"Bright Idea"
"Between a Rock and a Hard Place"
"Put the flames out"

Just for a general idea of what I have in mind.

I'm hooked, for now <3
And I still plan to do my images idea for my calling card, but the marbles are also a good idea. We're also thinking about going to the dollar store and finding cute little trinkets to add to the stash of items that I'll be hiding away for people <3

Oh, one of the caches, I kind of cheated on finding, today. We were looking at the pipes in the area due to the tip, and I tripped and when I looked to my right, I saw the geocacher symbol on the pipe, lmao.
