He was thankful that his father, who was a filthy rich business man, had left him a fortune and of course, his brother, who had inherited their father's business skills always helped him with money.

Nene gasped for air, resting against the back wall of the bustling hall. Why on earth did she have to pick one of the slowest carriages...? Afraid she was going to be late, she'd run all the way up here, only to find out that the Sorting hadn't really even started. The first-years were in a jumbled line as usual, so surely they'd start soon, and she saw the headmistress already trying to settle things down. Sighing lightly as she finally caught her breath, she couldn't help the excitement that swooshed through her. Another year at Hogwarts! Giddy, she began to make her way over to the Hufflepuff table, already eagerly imagining what all her classes would be like - ooh, what if there were hot guys in some of them? - and running through tomorrow's schedule in her mind. A very familiar figure caught her eye.
"Riiiiiiiiiiii!" Nene beamed, racing over to give her best friend a hug. "How was your summer?! I missed you so much, you have to tell me EVERYTHING," she said, overjoyed to see Hurricane once again. The two girls were in the same year, and they'd managed to form a unique kind of bond. They were the absolute definition of "organized chaos" - two outgoing, bubbly girls with little to no impulse control and a penchant for attracting trouble, whether intentionally or not.

And suddenly, just like that, he was back at the family house, only six years old and firing spells one after the other as his pubescent voice cracked with overuse. His parents weren't there, they never were, but he knew they were watching with beady eyes just waiting for him to make a mistake. Before him were small bodies, mangled beyond recognition by the various spells that he had cast, eyes long since losing their spark. It was the daily grind, practicing, again and again, hexes and curses that hurt and took and killed, all in hopes that one day he would be presented before the Dark Lord and have his recognition be cast over the family. What an honour. What a nightmare.
As with the end of every training session, Jules (was it really him doing it again if he was simply reliving another mundane day) lifted up his wand, drawing a figure eight and wordlessly casting his final spell. Oh, how proud his parents had been when he had mastered his first nonverbal spell, the mark of their Lord cast wordlessly by their little investment so early on. Surely signs of increasing returns in the future.
Within the physical plane where Jules' body remained while his mind took a trip down memory lane to relive his best and most exciting moments (totally the most fun times in his formative years yes), there seemed to be little indication of his predicament. Only a sudden stiffening of shoulders before they relaxed again, returning Jules' body to a relaxed position, simply a tired Head Boy waiting for the ceremony to begin

Attention snapping back to reality, the brunette's face lit up. "Nene!!!" she exclaimed, springing up and throwing her arms around her friend. "How are you?! How was your summer?!" There was no need to play her little counting game now, she thought with a sparkle in her eyes, not if she knew the other girl at all. Stepping back, 'Ri, as always, admired the teal ends to her hair. She positively adored the look of hair dye, but was almost a bit daunted at the idea of doing anything to her own hair. For the time being, she was happy with its soft chocolate-y tone. Maybe she'd ask Nene to help her dye it someday, though. Almost as a question, she added in a somewhat sing-song tone, "I think my bobby pin supply doubled over the summer. And you won't believe some of the styles I found when going through some magazines."

Nene giggled, enjoying the sudden change in attitude from her friend. "I think mine did, too. You've got to show me! Later, when we go up to the rooms," she said, bouncing in place. 'Ri was always so stylish, and she knew how to find the absolute best (and silliest!) trends that popped up. "My summer was good, but pretty boring," the blonde said, waving a hand as though to dismiss all the uninteresting events of the past few months. It wasn't that nothing had happened at all, but it was hard to find anything to compare to the adventures that would happen at school. "What about you, 'Ri? Did you find any new hobbies or something? Any cute boys?" Hopeful, Nene clasped her hands together with an innocent smile. "You have to have met at least like, two cute boys! Right?"

'Ri laughed aloud, a little tinge of pink rising into her face as she shook her head with a grin. "Hobbies, somewhat, boys, we're still looking," she joked. The girl certainly wasn't an Occlumens, but at that moment, she knew enough to fill her mind with thoughts of gushing water, like that one time she visited America with her dad when she was little and saw the famous Niagra Falls. While she loved chatting with Nene about crushes, usually she preferred to keep her own serious ones to herself and simply chip in regarding whomever her friend was talking about. It was a constant fear that a Legilmens would catch her off-guard and see the thoughts she harbored inside, and what with the skill and intelligence of Hogwarts students increasing seemingly every year, one could never be too careful. Her little defense was certainly fallible, but she knew she had nowhere near the skill needed to even start achieving it magically; besides, it would be silly to waste her time and effort on something as silly as keeping whatever crushes she may have hidden. A teasing sparkle in her eyes, 'Ri asked, "What, let me guess, did youuuu?"
