Melody exited the building, pushing her way through the crowd of
students. She had her own thoughts about the "accident." She had
several classes on that floor, and the plumbing had been just fine!
Melody glanced at her phone. 12:40. Her parents would be in the
thick of work, and obviously, Hadrian would be off with some
friends. Park, then? She pushed open the old gate and headed into
the thick, dry grassy area. There weren't many kids who would use
it, so there wasn't anyone else around. She saw an old fashioned
bench and took a seat, pulling out a book that her teacher had
assigned. After a good 10, 20 minutes, a deep voice behind her
spoke. "Great Expectations? I never liked that book either." Melody
jumped and whipped around. Behind her was one of the teachers, Mr.
Stone. Mr. Stone was the friendliest of the teachers, always making
jokes and talking to the students as if they were good friends.
Though, he was a bit odd. Melody once saw him sitting in the
vegetable garden that everyone said had been abandoned by the
short-lived Gardening Club, hard at work. He never once stopped to
eat, and when Melody came into his Science class after lunch, he
wasn't even a bit tired! And he had this weird jerking walk that
kind of ostracized him from the faculty. Melody laughed nervously.
"M-Mr. Stone! W-what a surprise to see you here!" Mr. Stone
shrugged. "I felt like getting some fresh air instead of going
home." He smiled. "You seem nervous. Was it the accident? Don't
worry, no one was hurt." "That's good!" "Y'know, you still seem
nervous. The plumbers.." he looked her straight in the eye. "Can
put your mind at ease." Melody could tell he was trying to tell her
something, but he was seriously creeping her out. "Yeah, of course,
uh-huh, right away!" She immediately got up and started hurrying
away. Melody knew that was kind of rude, but she couldn't help it.
That guy gave her the creeps! But there was something more to
him...
