Managing to swallow the void that had been so happily enveloping
fire, Darreon allowed the adrenaline to die down, then jogged up to
Melody. "That door, we need to get into it. It told me to come back
with the others when I tried to enter it before. If anything, that
means you."
Darreon nodded, then took a step, managed to snag Melody around the
waist with his arm, and leapt into the air. The wind rushed by at a
deafening speed as they fell, Darreon's clawed feet out in front of
him to land and absorb the shock from hitting the parking lot
outside the school.
Landing hard on the asphalt outside the school, Darreon glanced up.
"I saw it inside, up near the out-of-bounds closets where the pipes
were supposedly broken. I think we should check there first."
Releasing Melody from his grip, Darreon stepped forwards towards
the school.
Melody started jogging towards the school. "We'd better hurry!" She
halted in front of the wreckage. "Okay then, there's the door." She
pointed at the door in the steam, still flickering.
Nodding, Darreon stepped forwards and reached out his talons to
open the door. Grabbing the doorknob, he glanced back at Melody.
Twisting the handle, he held his breath.
Melody came up behind him as the door slowly opened, the inside a
blinding white, though if one looked carefully, they could make out
pillars inside. Some kind of hallway?
Holding the door open with his tail, Darreon stepped inside,
shielding his eyes from the light. Once he'd adjusted to see
clearly, he looked around. "I think it's safe." He beckoned for
Melody to enter with his tail, although his blood was starting to
pump faster in case of a fight.
As they stepped forward, the door slammed shut behind them with a
strong breeze. Melody jumped a little. An echoing voice said,
"Welcome. Welcome to my Hall of Storms! We're going to play a
little game. You have to make it to the end of the Hall of Storms,
but also find my link! I've brought dear Nightmare here to make it
interesting-you support the Zombie King, no? Well, the first one to
find my link can either destroy it and set me free, or you can use
the phrase to put me under the Zombie King's control. There's a
reason I'm known as the Neutral Element. Wind blows on all corners
of the world, I care not for "good" or "evil," just my own
entertainment."
Darreon blinked, looking at Melody, then at Nightmare. Then, he
leapt into the air, looking down and around, hoping to find
anything breakable that might be the link.
"The link is indeed a war horn, you've heard of those, no? Find it,
and toss it from a window, and you've served my link to this plane.
But be careful. There's a storm coming your way!" Sure enough, the
rumblings from the door were getting louder, and something was
coming.
