Shadow watched, mesmerized as Silver rubbed her paw over Alex’s
wounds. “Woaaahhh”, he said. That’s an incredibly useful ability.
But does your blood only work on other people? If so, you basically
have to sacrifice yourself to save another. “I wonder what I would
do if I had that power in that situation?” Shadow thought. “It
would be hard for me to live with the knowledge that someday I
might sacrifice myself to save someone else.”
"What the heck!" Alex yowled. His wounds felt like they were on
fire, then he looked again and they were gone. "I'd rather have
then heal naturally than that," Alex grumbled. "What was that?"
Silver shrugged and revealed the bleeding paw. The blood was a
sparkly, golden color. 'It's my blood, it heals, but it hurts as it
works. It's part of the curse of being half demon. My sister's
blood does the opposite." She didn't have to sacrifice herself as
long as she had her blood on her at all times, with quick access,
her sharp claws helped with that. "And I am not against sacrificing
myself for the good of other cats."
"It can heal anything?! Thats amazing! Bro, you could save some
serious lives!" He paused for a minute, trying not to let his
rashness get ahead of him. "It must be hard to get hurt for others
though. Also, who's this sister you keep talking about?" Alex
wonders out loud.
Well, we better go back. It’s getting dark, and I am excited to get
a good night of sleep and collect the rewards! I don’t know about
you guys, but I’m pretty worn out.
"It's fine." Right as Silver showed the paw, the hole began to
rapidly close. Being part angel, she could heal faster too, as her
magic still helped her heal faster. Still, she'd heard of angels
being capture or killed for their healing blood, which would hurt
as it healed, but still tasted bad. "And my sister? You've met her,
correct?"
"I don't know if i've met your sister... you've never told me who
it was. Also, Wait, before we go, we should check out the dragon's
base. I don't think there were any rewards for the quest, I just
wanted a challenge (sorry)," Alex says. "There should be some loot
in the base though. Lets check it out!" Alex ran to the wooden
beams to take a look at the loot.
Silver wasn't surprised Alex wouldn't be able to recognize Miko as
her sister, but there was no time to explain as she dashed after
him across the sand to grab the loot. Maybe after seeing her
evolved, he may understand better.
"Whoa! those dragons were hoarding a lot of gold!" Alex exclaims.
He quickly counted up all the gold in the cave, and came to the
conclusion that there was about 3200 pieces. "How about we give
2000 to the guild and keep 400 each for ourselves? Alex asks. He
sees a flash at the back of the cave. "Also, there might be an
amber in here!"
"Large enemies like this usually do." Silver recalled, taking the
gold into her pouch. She stared into the chest, hoping for a rare
blue ember, her ember. She wanted to evolve, too.
"It's blue..." Alex notes. He was observant like that. "Not sure if
it's rare or not." Suddenly, an idea struck his mind. "Hey, do
either of you evolve with a blue ember? We can test it out! I don't
know what type of ember I evolve with... mind if I try touching it
first?" Alex asked, realiseing it might have sounded rude a little
after.
"I need a rare blue ember to evolve. But, you did most of the
fighting, so you go ahead." Silver sat down, patiently waiting to
see if Alex would evolve from this. Or maybe she could...UGH! She
hated this greedy feeling! Stupid demon.
Alex tapped his tail to the ember. Nothing happened. He laughed. "I
figured. Hey Silver, you give it a go! It would be cool if it
worked, and you would deserve it, youve been questing for a lot
longer than me." He nudged the ember towards the white cat.
Shadow pronounced his agreement. If not for you and your sword, we
all would have hurt or even dead by now. Plus, you hurt yourself to
heal Alex... I think you deserve it.
Deep inside, Shadow knew that anyways he probably needed a black
ember to evolve, so he was fine with giving it up, as it wouldn’t
affect.
Silver felt her paw shaking as she reached to touch the glowing
blue ember. In the darkness of the night, it wasn't easy to tell
the rarity of the ember, so all she could do was touch it and
hope....
Suddenly she began to glow, her wings grew bigger and her fur
gained stronger blue tints to it. Her eyes also had a more starlike
sparkle to them. It had been a rare blue ember, and she now
had longer and sturdier wings, and her blade glew with more bright
fire. She squealed in delight.
Alex watched in excitement as Silver evolved. "Congratulations!" He
purred. "Now you look like you can fly even better." He looked at
the sun setting across the sea. "We should probably head back...
maybe you can show your wings and sword off to that sister you've
been telling me so much about." Alex grinned. Today had been an
amazing day! He had made Silver and Shadow a friend, and gotten to
know Purrcilla and Luna. He had helped defeat dragons, payed back a
kind cat, ate a delicious lunch, and watched silver evolve! He was
right. Spring did come after the harshest season of the year.
“Woooaaaahh“ Shadow said, purring with amazed. Now you’ll be able
to fly around! And your skill with the sword will be so much
better! That’s so cool! I can’t wait to get an ember myself! Maybe
I can go questing tomorrow! And the day after! Until I get an
ember! Wait second ... now that you’ve evolved, you look like Miko.
Don’t tell me... She’s your sister!
"My sister evolved too! Last time I saw her, she had wings and was
flying after Molotov!" Silver lifted off and began to fly towards
the Guild. She wanted to talk to Miko, and introduce her to Alex as
her sister, as she knew they'd never guess otherwise. She was
enjoying staying in the air longer and did little tricks in the
air. "Wait until Angel sees me!"
