Carter's School of Edeya
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Carter's School of EdeyaThe simplest explanation on why Soo-ah is so committed on her act is because.. it really isn't an act, if that's how she really is isn't it? But really, Soo-ah believed that it is for the best. To act close, and be physically close to one another, yet still be sure to keep a barrier to remind not just the other person, but yourself, not to get too close, and know your place.
So in summary, yes, Soo-ah truly is a punk, a jokestar, and an easygoing person, who likes live without a care in the world, but Soo-ah Lee is also an enigma.
Her amusement was not born out of mockery or disdain, but rather from the irony of the situation. It was clear that they were all sizing up the competition, trying to understand each other's strengths and weaknesses while maintaining a cheery facade. Andrael, on the other hand, had been more direct about her intentions, not bothering with pretenses or petty jockeying for position.
Andrael knew that forming connections and alliances in this hierarchy-based school could be both advantageous and dangerous. Trust was a luxury she couldn't afford easily, and she remained cautious about revealing too much about herself. And where the hell was the professor?

A fairly tall man walked in, his suit neatly ironed, his expression calm and neutral. His skin was pale, and his eyes a dim shade of red.
His most noticeable feature was his startlingly bright, blue hair, messy and long.
He glanced across the room, his mouth set in a resting scowl.
He observed the five.
"...there should be two more of you."
The professor sighed.
"...No matter. My name is Artemis. But you may call me Professor Wright, Professor Renfield, or simply, Professor."
Saeha waved.
"Hi professor~!"
Artemis nodded curtly.
"Yes, hello, Cadet Saeha."

"Professor Renfield, if I may ask, could you explain the schedule to us. I had a hard time comprehending it-"
Halfway through, she realized that her phrasing might frame the class in a bad light.
"I mean, um, that, the..."
She smiled awkwardly at the end and cleared her throat.
"Sorry."
He muttered something quietly, and a stack of textbooks dropped out of the sky, into hsi hands.
He walked through the classroom, setting the textbooks on each person's desk.
Saeha groaned.
"...not this again... sir, why are you so overprepared..."
Saeha flopped onto the desk.
The Professor watched Saeha for a moment, before dropping the textbook on her head.
"Shush. This is my classroom."
Saeha groaned quietly, rubbing her head.
"...ouch..."
The Professor dusted his hands off.
"And that brings us to our first rule! You absolutely have to listen to me. I swear that I will not exercise my power unless necessary. But on the few occassions that I do, you must listen."
He glanced at Saeha.
"...We don't want a repeat of last year."

She raised an eyebrow slightly at Saeha's casual greeting and the professor's curt response. Alea's nervousness didn't escape her notice, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of indifference towards the whole situation. Kinoko's respectful inquiry made her appear polite, but her awkward phrasing only reinforced Andrael's perception of her classmates as somewhat inept.
As Professor Wright prepared to explain the schedule, Andrael's attention remained fixed on him and her classmates. She observed Saeha's groaning and the professor's response, finding their interaction mildly amusing but not surprising given the girl's bubbly personality and the professor's apparent no-nonsense attitude.
Andrael felt a flicker of annoyance at the professor's words, the memory of last year's events vaguely resurfacing. She begrudgingly acknowledged the necessity of listening to Professor Wright, knowing that the consequences of not doing so could be more trouble than it was worth. With a reluctant nod, she silently agreed to comply, keeping her opinions and emotions to herself for the time being.

The Professor watched her, a flicker of concern in his eyes.
"...Moving on. As you should all know, today will start off with a basic combat test, to gauge your levelof improvement over the break."
The professor tapped his pen against his desk. A habit of his, it seemed.
"I will try my best to give the most constructive criticism towards your abilities as possible."

She glanced at Saeha, unsure what to think. Saeha seemed really… casual with her current position. Maybe she was used to all this?
The combat test however, a growing anxiety filled the pit of her stomach, the most useful thing her Edeya’s could do was disorient her opponents. She really would only be able to use the baton. The baton, however, had a problem. It was on the edge of breaking and Kinoko always handled it gently, so using it roughly and having it break would be disastrous.
When the professor mentioned a combat test, Alea flinched slightly and glanced up at the professor, she internally sighed, she’d love to get some feedback on her abilites, yet she was sure her classmates would be quiet a bit ahead. At least she expected as much. Her rank in the school hadn’t been high, but it was about what she’d hoped for and expected, but not much could be said for the others.
"...Ah, I apologize for my tardiness. It must be quite maddening for an educator to be late to his first class. I was caught up in matters of internal conflict."
He put his pen away.
"No matter. Let us go. Single file, please, one at a time."
Saeha was the first to get up, leaving the classroom in a hurry, her smile gone.
The Professor put a hand on her shoulder.
"Saeha. A word?"

Without saying a word, she stood up and gathered her belongings, taking her time to leave the classroom. She approached the door, conveying her desire to avoid potential... social... situations.

If this was going to be a team event, she could at least help out her team by taking the voice of the other’s leader. But that would take some energy.
However, if it was a solo event, she could manipulate the sounds around others in attempts to be able to sneak up on them quietly and get a good hit in.
As she skipped towards the group, and decided walked side-by-side with the new girl, who was relatively near the front of the group.
Soo-ah crossed her arms behind her head, and she walked forward, matching her pace with Andreal. Looking at Andreal in the corner of her eyes, smiling enigmatically. Before inching slightly bit closer to the other, whispering in her ear.
"Hey new girl, what do you think so far?"
"I'm not new," Andrael replied curtly, her irritation evident in her tone. "We've been in the same class, but I guess you never bothered to notice." She shot Soo-ah a skeptical look, unimpressed by her attempts at camaraderie. Andrael was guarded and cautious, not eager to share much about herself or become fast friends with someone who seemed so carefree and oblivious to the world around her.
Despite her annoyance, Andrael didn't show any outward signs of aggression. She continued to walk side-by-side with Soo-ah, keeping a certain distance to maintain her personal space. And while Soo-ah's enigmatic smile and friendly demeanor might be endearing to others, Andrael remained wary, not fully buying into the act, and keeping her true thoughts and feelings well-hidden beneath her grumpy exterior.

"...do you still not have it under control?"
Saeha laughed.
"What, my raging Lesbian panic?"
She shut up after the professor shot her with a glare.
"... you know what I mean."
Saeha's smile dropped.
"...I managed to halve the power output. I can control it now, I swear."
The Professor sighed.
"...for the sake of your classmates, please don't use it. Practice it with me or Emma. Never use ot on your own."
