Fortevera smiles as well and the sunlight makes her look even more radiant than before (though she really just likes the sun). "I'm Fortevera. Hobby botanist and lover of all things green. And you, Celine?" She extends her hand and, when Celine would go for a handshake, she'd note her strong grip. "What's that doll? It looks pretty."

“Nice to meet you, Fortevera. You have a pretty name, and a pretty face to match! I’m not particularly special, but I do love a good tea party.” Celine accepts the handshake, dainty hands enclasping Fortevra’s strong ones, grip feather-like compared to the other. “I’m saving a seat for Alea. That’s Tulip, one of my ten main dolls. She’s sort-of sentient, and a crucial part of my Edeya, I daresay.” Upon ‘hearing’ Celine introduce her, Tulip turned to face Fortevera, and waved her little arm, before resuming her lifelessness once more. “See what I mean? They’re only sorta sentient.”

"Tulip?" Fortevera stands up, knocking her own chair over in the process. She gets on eye level with her dolls and giving Tulip a handshake with two fingers, this time trying to be more delicate. "Well, your Edeya seems very fun when you can unlock it with such a fun one. Tulip, a fun bud!" She giggles, then looking up. "You're pretty cute yourself, you know? Any chance I get to meet all of your dolls?"

Celine righted the chair as Tulip returns the handshake. She paused to activate her Edeya, humming a tune softly. She murmurs a thanks through her humming, before her tune ended. When she opens her eyes again, colorful rings can be observed spinning around her eyes, and several dolls appear out of nowhere. “Fortevera, meet Tulip, Rose, Honeysuckle, Orchid, Lily, Dahlia, Iris, Buttercup and Alstroemeria. You can probably tell by now, they’re all named after flowers. Flowers I used to grow in the garden of my biological parents’ home.” She waves the hands, and the dolls shrink, to be able to fit onto the table with ease. “Don’t wanna bother the others, having too much crowd is a bother to some.”

The professor stood at his little podium, clearing his throat.

"is everyone here?"

He glanced over the class, counting the students.

Saeha was sitting at the back of her room, quietly braiding her hair.

Professor Wright nodded.

"Good. Everyone's here."

He snapped, and a book appeared in front of him, and a remote appeared in his hand.

"Let's start."

"That's fine, I understand how noisy something can be. But heck, another enjoyer of plants!" Fortevera chuckles and gives Celine a very big grin. "I already know how well we're going to get along together. You n' me could grow some plants as well, if you like!" She folds her hands together and then spreads them out, making a blooming motion with her whole body. Then... she sees the professor who just came in. "Oh, let's talk about it later, yeah?" She winks and sits down, smiling at the Professor just as wide as she smiled at Celine.

Celine returns the smile. “Yeah, maybe we can grow plants sometime.” She snaps her fingers and the dolls disappear, except for Tulip and Buttercup. Tulip continues to ‘reserve’ the seat for Alea whilst Buttercup goes to check on Saeha. Buttercup walks up to Saeha, head tilting as she stretched her hand out to her. Meanwhile, Celine was focusing on the Professor, full attention devoted to him as she patiently waits for the lesson to begin. She takes out a notepad, and a quill, writing something at the top before placing it down again.

He clicked the remote, and the lights turned off. Once more, and a projector turned on.

The professor cleared his throat.

"First question. Can anyone tell me what an Edeya really is?"

Saeha shook the doll's hand, smiling.

Oh my god. There were more classmates, each more annoying than the last. Andrael could just sob from frustration. Her experience at school was going to be even more miserable than she had originally thought. But she needed to stay here. She had made promises; to herself, to her benefactors, to her-

No, focus on the matter at hand. Professor Wright had asked a question. Andrael could answer this. It had been hammered into her since she was eight.

"It is conventionally taught that Edeya is the soul's essence. It's the physical and metaphysical manifestation of powers derived from the power of one's soul." She said, her voice even.
It was never meant to be.

"Perfect."

The professor clapped.

"Now, the Edeya is highly valued in modern society, due to it often making the hunting of monsters far easier. But... do you believe that edeyas have ranks?"

The professor talked calmly.

"Are Edeyas sorted into ranks, and do they determine your worth?"

This time, Fortevera raised her hand. "They're ranked both in their own strength and how well the person can fight/use them (she literally said "slash") and good Edeyas do make life easier, similar to high worth!"

"Rankings are an arbitrary system created to divide. They serve no purpose. Who are we to judge souls? To say the manifestation of a soul is inferior than another? We are nothing." Andrael's voice cut across the room, a bored, scathing remark.

Her already low opinion of the new girl decreased dramatically. Anyone who believed in the ridiculous system deserved what they got.

"Never said they were right. A soul blossoms in their own way and the ranking is just for combat and utility. Your Edeya does not tell you as a person or your soul and its worth!" Fortevera replied, her tone shifted from slightly disinterested to argumentative. "There is a difference! Much like giving an opinion and an answer, moon vine." Hm. Andrael reminded her of one... only opens during the night, invasive.

"Edeyas do not determine a person's worth." She said, answering the initial question. Hell, there were so many times that she had wished for a different Edeya, so many times she had wanted to be free of the responsibilities that had been forced upon her.

The new girl could backtrack all she wanted. Andrael couldn't care less about her beliefs in the value of combat rankings. She had known people with weak Edeya and sharp minds that had outwitted the entire ranking system. And her petty insults were ridiculously easy to ignore.

Fortevera seems just as disinterested, her Edeya was both a blessing and a curse. She liked it for fitting with her theme (which was rather coincidental, in her eyes) but it also led to a more problematic part of her life. The fact that most Edeyas require trauma to unlock was almost sickening. "They don't. But higher-ups like to rank people based on them... messed up but it is the world we grow in."

She crosses her arms, as a cloud blocked the sun. Coincidentally, Fortevera became slightly calmer when it happened, simply leaning back in her seat.

"...And, once more, cadet Andrea is correct. While Edemas are arbitrarily divided into ranks, it does not mean that a lower ranked Edeya is worse than a higher ranked one."

The professor snapped, and a mug appeared in his hands. he sipped from it.

"For example. I have a B-Ranked support-based teleportation Edeya. Professor Brown has an A+ ranked Combat-based Telepathy ability. Can you guess which of us was more successful in the Hunter industry?"

Fortevera was confused. "... but the question was if they were ranked, not how the ranking works..." She'd call connivance but the sun wasn't out enough. So, she just flops on the table and shrugs. "Who cares...?"

There had been no sound from Celine, apart from the furious scribbling of the quill. Suddenly, she let out a quiet “Aack” before puffing air out at her notepad. It had caught fire, and her quill tip was smoking. She puts out the fire, crumpling the page of notes, before taking another copy of notes from Tulip, who had been acting as second scribe. She didn’t seem to be scribbling much of the current discussion, as apart from a few notes regarding the discussed matter, most of it was illegible to others.

Buttercup climbs up to Saeha, sitting on the corner of her desk. The doll didn’t talk, but it provided a comforting presence for the girl, accompanying her during the lesson.

Andrael nodded once in acknowledgement, and wrote something in her notebook. She ignored the new girl's petulance, and focused on the task at hand. She didn't see any use in answering the obvious question Professor Wright posed. Let someone else have a softball.

Kinoko was doodling away in her notebook as the lesson was lessoning.

Her page was filled with little doodles of police hats and newspapers. As she looked up at the Professor, she tried to remember what he said.

She raised her hand quietly.

" I know that you're sh**ty and you're bad for me, but I can't stop thinking 'bout it."
