Setsuna stared uncomprehendingly at the note, then scooted himself off the bed. He made his way to the window and peeked out. The sun was well up- it was late in the day.

He stared out. Down below, the river gurgled and children cheered- how was Legion doing? How long had he been out?

What had even happened?

The knock came at the door, more insistently.

"Come in." His voice was raspy, broken. He cleared his throat and tried again. "Come in!"

to be aesthetic or not to be aesthetic that is not a question because I am not aesthetic at all and nor is this signature

Her wings fluttered slightly. It was her turn to be flustered, as she didn't know he would say it back. "I-I, um..." She had to think fast. Any leeway would give him an opportunity to turn the teasing on her, she couldn't let that happen. "You- are you always so precious?"

The door creaked open and boots clicked across the floor. Setsuna did a final once-over of the room- and spotted a sheet of paper, half-hazardly tossed by the bed. His heart gave a lurch, and he jumped to it, kicking it under the bed last minute.

A very familiar man stepped into the room. His straight shoulders, neatly trimmed beard, and uniform spoke of power. But it was the intelligence behind his eyes that really made your own stance go rigid.

Setsuna fancied that man had never had a childhood. There had probably always been something there- just lurking behind. A monster hidden in a child's, and now a man's body.

"G-General," he stammered. "I didn't- think you would want to visit a lowly soldier."

He carefully eased the paper back, using his foot.

She was taken aback, nearly falling off the bed at his comment. "H-Hey, no fair!" She was just on a winning streak, too! "I'm not precious!" The footsteps grew closer until they were in front of her door, but she was too busy whining to hear them.

"Apologies for breaking up the love, but I'd like to test something." Aret made a noise like a hiss and covered Kendo with her wings. That only caused Legion to laugh.
