"I love you too, Kendo. And I'm sure this will blow over eventually. Let's just cherish what we've worked for, okay?" She moved to sit up, leaning on him and looking down at Azumi who was getting the only decent amount of sleep she would get for at most a year. "We have our happy ending. I want to keep it that way."

She glanced at Kendo shortly after, smiling coyly. "And, not to get ahead of myself, but I'm sure Azumi will be lonely, being the only child in the house." She giggled.

She laughed weakly and kissed his shoulder, looking down at her little girl lovingly before closing her eyes.

It was cold out, but there were some hearts that were as warm as spring.

With luck, one day, Aretstikaphaniela could feel that same warmth.

But for now, she was encased in an icy coffin, as well as the whole nation of Macedon.

Not everyone can have a good ending.
