"Exactly." Kubo breathed out. Finally. Someone who wasn't a total idiot. "The bisection seems to be the fatal injury, does it not? And yet, it's impossible. That was not what killed Horatia. And you can tell by looking at the crime scene."

He leaned in. "What stands out to you? What proves that the bisection was not her cause of death?"

"There you have it. There wasn't blood loss when she was cut in half. Otherwise, the pool would be much larger. Therefore, the killer must've prepped the body, so that the blood would not get on the floor prior. There were still splatters- indicating that the killer did not do a clean up job. Presumably to keep their clothes clean."

He paused. "The killer didn't clean it up, yet there wasn't enough blood. There's your conclusion. There's your answer. Now, tell me- how do you extrapolate the time of death from here?"

He waited.

"I may be stupid," Miyako cut in. "But.... I don't get it. How does her being cut in half after her death have anything to do with the time? Did like... she stop bleeding or something? Because of death or something? And that's why she didn't bleed.

"No." Kubo shook his head. "The killer was only in the room once."

He closed his eyes, thinking. "Think of it like this: if the holes were what killed her... then why was she cut in half?"

"...due to the state of the blood, and the body, the killer must've wanted to make everyone think that the death took place last night, when really, it took place sooner. So, that means, they were trying to make an alibi for themself, by convincing us the death took place at a different time than it actually did."

"Uh... okay. Yeah, I'm stupid. I don't understand this."

"That's fine," Kubo dismissed her with a flippant hand. "Basically, the murder couldn't have happened at night. It happened in the evening."

"The evening?" Kaoru echoed. "Why?"

"It couldn't have happened during the day. We've established this. Besides, Horatia was still alive- and I know that for personal factors. Though I'm sure others could confirm that." He eyed Miyako for a second, then shook his head. "Horatia was killed in the evening."

He realized his stutter had gone, and shut his mouth quickly.

"Maybe I'm too dumb too... but doesn't that mean that the killer was somebody who was in their dorms?" Setsuna fiddled with his hands. "They were establishing an alibi, right? So they had to be like... in the dorms at night. So this was their way with getting away with it..."

Setsuna sighed. He hated this. It hurt his brain, and his conscience. He just wanted it to be over with.

Darcy sighed. "They might've wanted us to THINK it was the weapon! This case is getting more and more complicated by the second."

Lucian glanced over at Idris approvingly. "...yes. That's plausible! But what's with the skewer, then? Is it irrelevant?" He bit his lip. "Could that just be Sawyer's blood from when... Horatia..."

"From when Horatia what?" Sawyer asked. "Lost miserably?"

What does it tell us about the time two very large objects were moved? One unbendable... the other an obvious corpse?

Mei still stood silent as she listened to the debate, not really finding a reason to say anything. It's not like she had any sort of evidence, or anything that could contribute to this case, even negatively. She honestly kind of hated it, not having as much info as everyone else. She didn't really do much yesterday or this morning anyways, she had nothing. She could make up some fake info, but what could she even do... All this info was great, but she wasn't exactly seeing it. She had a sneaking suspicion that the death happened earlier, but she went with "during the night" because the option just felt safer to go with. Guess she couldn't be right all the time.

"Fun conversation you guys got there, too bad I have something to say..." She interrupted, her voice low and almost a growl.

"Hey Mika, odd accusation to throw out, hm? Randomly suggesting me? So tell me... What's the murder weapon, hm? Ultimate Weapons Specialist? A chainsaw to cut the body up? Or maybe an axe, handsaw, or guillotine? And the stab wounds... What do you think they are? Skewers? Knives? Maybe even large bullet wounds? The possibilities are endless... But of course, you know what each of those things can do, right? You looked at the body, do you know what killed her?"

She could suggest something for once, maybe that would give her more of an opening... Besides, even if they do figure the murder out, it wasn't all that bad for her. Just hurt her pride a bit.

There was other things she wanted to say, but she'd hold off for now.

Akari listened closely as well, trying to piece things together in his head. He never really did investigations, but he sure as hell did problem-solving. In a way, his work was similar to this trial. Find each of the variables, learn what they do, find the flaws, then fit them together into a bigger piece to see how it all connected. He honestly felt like he couldn't do much, his input would be stupid and worthless, but he might as well try. And as much as he hated to admit it, Mei's interrogation with Mika kinda encouraged him to do a bit of work of his own...

"Hey Kubo... You think the body was moved? It wouldn't make sense that Horita was in a random classroom, and the lack of blood too... Maybe she was killed, left there, then moved in this room? Maybe the killer even stabbed her body a few times to make blood splatter? That could explain why it wasn't cleaned up, since leaving this much blood wouldn't be smart if blood is so easy to clean... So would that mean there were two different times the body was messed with? Guess that means we need more specific alibis..."

Wow, that was the most Akari talked at once in a while. Aaaaand he probably shouldn't have said anything about cleaning up blood, he hoped no one caught that...

"And as much as I'd hate to admit it... Mei's right, does Mika know anything important?"

Kubo inhaled sharply. They were getting off track. Should he even help? Should he just say the murderer...?

"When was the b-body moved?" he asked. "When?"

"I dunno," Miyako muttered. "Last night? Eh... not right. I dunno at this point. What, this morning? When we were all flocking around the cafeteria? When we were all in the classroom?" She shook her head. "Do you even know what's going on?"
