Sutaraitsu Umemoto

"Shoot! Um, are you okay-?"

Sutaraitsu crawled to the edge of the bed and extended his hand to Setsuna. And like, a sudden gust of air conditioner wind ruffled his hair or something, because this post looks empty and I don't want it to be.

Rays of incandescent light (they might be fluorescent idk) bounced off his pink eyes (not conjunctivitis-afflicted eyes) as they sparkled as if tiny fragments of diamond were strewn across their corneas. I don't know why I just had to compare them to that.

He thought he'd heard something robotic speak in the distance, but surely that wasn't as important. "So, umm, are we going to the cafeteria?"

Mika Uyehara

"A BODY HAS BEEN DISCOVERED! A BODY HAS BEEN DISCOVERED! EVERYONE PLEASE GATHER IN THE CAFETERIA!"

Well, isn't that fun. Just when he'd managed to banish that child-eating...child back to wherever it was from. Mika couldn't actually care less about who died. The only important thing was that he was alive, wasn't it?

Anyways, a dead body is still a dead body, so, like, he went to see anyways. Not like he'd die from it or anything. Or maybe it's been laced with some sort of extremely deadly virus strain with no cure.

He walked a little toward Akora's dead body or something idk i'm not sure if anyone else is there

very belated sutaraitsu

"O-Oh, that sounds, uh. Cool! Did your um, parents, not like roots? I like beets, but carrots are nice too!"

Sutaraitsu wriggled closer to Setsuna's body and the air started smelling like strawberry ice cream, or something. "A dance? I'm, uh, not great at dancing, but um, I could try, I guess..." Celery pondered what to do with the excessive use of commas.

"Uhh, we c-could go now, if you want." He nuzzled one of Setsuna's other unspecified body parts which may be either his chest, arm, or something else.

oh my god i have no motivation to post.
Sutaraitsu Umemoto

Sutaraitsu blinked and stared at Setsuna. "What's prom?"

He thought about it for a moment, arms wrapping around Setsuna's unspecified body part.

"Um, i-is it the one where you dress up and ask people for candy?" He brushed his hair (slightly) out of his eyes and looked at Setsuna. I also forgot what Setsuna's eye color was.

Sutaraitsu Umemoto

wow it's been a while

Like the sleepy narcoleptic (definitely didn't make this up on the spot) he is, Sutaraitsu finally woke up feeling like his brain had been feasted upon by awareness-consuming bugs and used to play jump rope by inebriated fairies. I can't say for sure whether that happened or not.

Anyways, he woke up to a seven-dimensional Elder God of uh, Breathing, yeah, breathing down his neck. If by seventh-dimension Elder God of Breathing you meant a particular Ultimate Dictionary by the name of Setsuna Jun. Not the printed kind, the flesh-and-blood kind. But I'm sure there aren't any significant differences between those two.

Aaaaanyways, because he might as well be five years old, Sutaraitsu did a cute cat yawn thing and snuggled closer to Setsuna. I don't think he's showered since coming to Hope's Peak though, but like, you can't spell Monokuma without kum, so let's just blame it on Horatia.

Also Mika doesn't exist.

Horatia Arborea

Many things happened without a cause. Actually, scratch that. Pretty much everything happened without a cause to Horatia. One moment something would happen, and another moment she would be driven to do something else inexplicably.

She always wrote it off as insanity. Clearly it must've been her prolonged exposure to art that was the cause of it. A lot of artists experienced it anyway, so it must be totally normal.

Well, art was something she was willing to put behind herself forever anyways. Hopefully she would become less insane as time passed.

Horatia wasn't sure what the sudden urge of wanting to create knife soup was though, but of course questioning it was futile. She gathered a whole bunch of knives and dumped them in a pot as if she did it every day for breakfast. Adding some scalding hot water, leeks (heh), seasoning, and screaming souls of tortured children from the depths of hell, she mixed it a bunch before deciding to take the entire pot with her.

Surely nothing can go wrong with this. But her (rather) short stature was quite a sight to behold while she was carrying a large pot filled with screaming knives in front of her.

Making her way to the dorms, Horatia entered the one with her face on it, ignoring the potential weird glances she would get. Looks like she was dorming with this Wei En person. Let's see how this goes.

Eden Aconitum

Ultimate Vigilante...that's not a bad talent. He can act as my human shield or something, maybe. The uneasiness of him saying it just makes it so much better...

"Umm...I guess. I could use some sleep..." Eden replied lazily, running his fingers through his bangs to tidy them up.

"Hooray...?"

Eden lightly squeezed Amaya's hand. The awkwardness and uneasiness of this was quite...nice, for lack of a better term. Perhaps it could be considered reassuring, or something along the lines of that.

Horatia Arborea

So it appeared that no one wanted to talk to her. Fun. She had a sudden, inexplicable urge to yeet to the kitchen and start boiling knives in a pot. Reality was often weird.

She learned not to question it quickly, obviously. Can't risk experiencing those cluster headaches again.

Ah, speaking of knives, weren't someone giving them away? Well, Horatia would love to talk to them and get to know them a little, but the little crackpot lunatic living in her head was yelling at them to make knife soup.

This can only go so well.

Eden Aconitum

He wanted to...hold hands? Great! Eden's mind briefly drifted off to thinking how soft Amaya's hands would feel like, before snapping back to attention.

"Oh, umm, sure! I'd love to, actually," He made the closest approximation of a ":3" in terms of tone, and wriggled his hand until it met Amaya's. It was a good enough balance of soft and roughness, he'd say.

"Wait, uh..." Eden hesitated (again). Come on, do it already.

"I-I don't think we introduced each other yet. I think. So umm...my name's Eden. Eden Aconitum. It's, uh, really nice to meet you. Oh and I'm the Ultimate Reverist."

Ultimate Reverist...it does sound pretty good.

Horatia Arborea

i guess we're doing that chuku thing for horatia this time

Eden Aconitum

Eden hesitated a little, before extending their hand at Amaya and gripping his arm like their life depended on it. Well, maybe not that hard (heh), probably more like a squeeze than anything.

He took a step closer to Amaya, not sure what to say. Which is to say they pretended to dig through their purse for stuff. They couldn't help but stare at the white(?)-haired boy though, wondering whether he was gifted with that face from forces outside of his control, or worked hard to maintain it like they did.

It was possibly a better question to think about later, Eden decided. It really sucks that pretty much nothing good is ever permanent. If only the world could be sealed in an unchanging time bubble.

He shyly blinked at Amaya, his clear blue eyes gazing into an unspecified part of Amaya's face.

Contents of the Minorem Grimoire de Ōmagatoki

Show hidden content
Faith is a wellspring of power.

Faith is proof that we are worthy of the power it gives us. Proof that we shall not fall into obscurity.

Having read tens of thousands of texts, it is only now that it has dawned upon me.

The era of war has reached its conclusion, and we will soon become obsolete.

Just what is faith, but a fickle tool of Destiny, to keep deities in control?

Just what is faith, being a rule that even Destiny follows?

If even Destiny craves faith, would it not mean that it holds the key to the world?

And thus, in this moment of realization, I dub my ritual,

The Ōmagatoki.

It is truly beautiful. A work of art, yet also very much so practical.

Faith would easily be gathered through it- the excitement, panic, despair.

The extreme distress of the participants. Humans, yōkai, lost spirits, whatever, so long as they may be captured in large quantities.

But I will not bore you, my future self, in more ramblings. This is what you are looking for.

The Ōmagatoki
Ritual ingredients:
- A suitable amount of unwilling participants, perhaps 8 to 14. Too few and the ritual will end too quickly. Too much and unforeseen circumstances may manifest.
- Housing for the participants to stay during the “night”
- An instrument that may record information during the “day”
- A method of execution
- A motive for murder, perhaps a reward of sorts for “victory”

Firstly, establish the rules of the ritual. Threaten noncompliance with violent death. The participants will follow a day-night cycle. During the day they will vote to execute someone, attempting to exterminate someone of the opposing faction. During the night some of them will use their powers to ensure information is obtained.

This cycle repeats until there is one victorious faction. Events and special occurrences may be mixed in to steer the ritual in another direction. Every action matters. One wrong move and everything might just crumble.

Administer a suitable reward to the winning faction afterwards, and then experience the horrible feelings of torture, of regret, of hopelessness, distilled into faith. The purest form of power.

Quote from The Night Before...

Water Empresses | Nakanotorishima Castle

Current Time: Night of Day 2 | Prologue
It is currently nighttime. No characters may speak, and those with night actions may perform them (except during the Prologue).

Current Rain Level: Light Rain (1 stage)
- It will increase by 2 stages after the end of the next day. Mysterious stuff will happen when the rain level gets high enough.

(I’m just going to pretend everyone made their character go to sleep)

Amehime absentmindedly flipped through the book she held in her hands, clearly disturbed by the endless rain outside. Minorem Grimoire de Ōmagatoki, the cover wrote. The air around her lightly thrummed, partly due to the rain, but mostly due to her drawing ancient magical energies from the leylines in the castle walls.

The ritual had a lot of rules, and she was certain the humans would not be able to follow them without enforcement. Mirahime will have to take care of that, she supposed.

The two Rainmakers among the nine humans donned their raincoats, blessed by Imber Tempestarii herself to repel the cursed rain. They sighed quietly, not daring to make a sound, before they began work on stabilizing the cage of tearful rain.

The details on why they had to perform this ritual was rather unclear. But it was best to not question the will of a dark goddess. Especially one as volatile as the Dark Goddess of Disaster herself.

The rain tear cage pulsed and shined with cosmic energy- reminiscent of constellations, somehow, as it was imbued with arcane arts derived from Imber. Ah, speaking of constellations, it really was quite odd how the skies above the Expanse had no stars, was it not?

What could be in those skies? Perhaps that question shall be answered another day.

"Gracia...hear my words, and grant me the power to shield my companions from violence. The violence that shall soon befall us."

The Angel whispered under their breath. They had a feeling things would come to this. An island as idyllic and perfect as Nakanotorishima would never have salty rain. It felt as if the very island itself was crying, somewhat.

Well, anyhow, the rain was not normal. And if they knew anything, it was that incidents like this almost always resulted in violence. And they were supposed to be a guardian for those sorts of violence.

"I hear you, dear [REDACTED]. You shall be lent a fragment of my powers for your noble causes. Use them wisely, and you shall be rewarded properly upon your return to Otherworld. Remember, faith must always be kept as your heart; without it you shall simply crumble."

Sometimes they wondered why they ever decided to take up Gracia's offer. It was more hassle than it was worth, certainly.

Pushing aside their purification rod and talismans, the Miko let out a quiet whine. This all sucked. They didn't even want to come to this dumb island anyway.

And sure, being a priestess of a Legendary Sage had its benefits (a lot of benefits, actually), but Norcrosse had to be one of the most annoying Sages to serve in the history of Otherworld. The Mastix Sages would've never forced them to go explore some random island.

Well, now was a good opportunity to solidify their connection to Norcrosse, without the saltwater rain messing up the magical strings. Hopefully the Sage could actually provide something useful this time, unlike every other time.

Amehime and Mirahime | Nakanotorishima Shores (Camp)

Current Time: Dawn of Day 2 | Chapter 1
It is currently daytime. Items may be used, votes may be cast, and the island may be explored freely.

Current Rain Level: Light Rain (1 stage)
- It will increase by 2 stages after the night. Mysterious stuff will happen when the rain level gets high enough.

As the sun slowly rose from the horizon, Amehime wasted no time beginning her plans. The Ōmagatoki ritual was to begin now, if she wanted the saltwater rain to conclude quickly.

The lazy sands of the shore became visible as the three water empresses neared the edge of the forests. The rain had gotten harder, it was clear. The drizzle yesterday seemed insignificant as larger droplets of rain fell from the sky.

With one flick of her wrist, Amehime conjured a roaring wind surrounding the camp, scattering the tearful rain descending onto it. And, of course, if a sudden windstorm couldn't cause panic, what could? She braced herself for some aggressive talking.

"Dear humans. It has been made clear to me that you are the cause of this vile rain that has been cast upon our island. This will be a completely fruitless endeavor, I assure you. But-"

Amehime cut herself off for dramatic effect.

"Of the nine of you that have currently been stranded on our island."

"Only two have a hand in the summoning of this curse. It would be simply unfair if the seven innocents amongst yourselves simply died because of an unfortunate bout of bad luck."

She continued in the same assertive, demanding tone.

"As such, I propose an alternative. You all shall participate in this ancient ritual, fittingly dubbed the Ōmagatoki by irrelevant divinities countless eons ago. You will not refuse this offer, for the alternative to this alternative is painful death."

Amehime gestured towards Mirahime to continue.

"This is the contract you shall soon agree to. In essence, you will be granted free access to the entire island, as well as Nakanotorishima Castle for temporary residence at night, in exchange for compliance with the rules. Once agreed, you will find yourself completely incapable of breaking any of the rules of the ritual."

[refer to the signups for the details of the contract. if you have any questions just palpad me or something]

"You will have a moment to discuss and react before agreeing to it. And of course, if you reject the contract, you shall be granted a painful death."

Irohahime

As usual, Iroha had sneakily slipped away while her sisters were doing their dramatic talk. With the Minorem Grimoire de Ōmagatoki she sneaked out of the Archives pressed against its chest, the ancient book wrapped in a magical, translucent foil that repelled water.

She approached Paiyoon's tent (don't ask how she knew) and basically barged in without warning.

"Hey, uh, Ms. Paiyoon! I brought the book you said you wanted to read yesterday for you. Have fun reading it or something. It's not that interesting." She said, her voice somewhat reminiscent of both a yell and a whisper.

Water Empresses | Nakanotorishima Castle

Current Time: Twilight of Day 1 | Prologue
The Game has yet to begin. Everyone may speak and act freely.

Night will soon come. Please finish up whatever character interactions you want to do.
(However, "soon" is a very vague term.)

Current Rain Level: Drizzle (0 stages)
- It will increase by 1 stage after the night. Mysterious stuff will happen when the rain level gets high enough.

"Iroha. You have returned. What were you able to extract from the stranded humans?"

"Ah, um, they're from the place with lots of divine beings. Otherworld, I think...? Yeah, probably. At least one of the mentioned something about the rain being a 'cage' or something too."

"Hm. That confirms the rite's information, but it still is not very useful. Anything else?"

"One of them kept on talking about the Ōmagatoki thing. And how they were stuck in a loop and forced to be part of it for a really long time. Something along the lines of that. And they keep on bringing up the topic of a murder game."

"This will only reaffirm the decisions I shall do tomorrow. Thank you for your patience with them, Iroha. Please have some rest. I shall gather my powers for tomorrow."

"Okay! Good night then!"

To mark your character as to have completed their interactions for the day, please make a post about them returning to their tent for sleep (this is not optional).

Also don't be lazy but I won't stop you if you want to idk

The rain seemed to increase in intensity as the sun began to set over the horizon, illuminating the waters and skies of the Expanse with vibrant pink, purple, and orange colors.

It would be a breathtaking sight, if not for the rain. It was some sort of rain cage apparently, according to one of the people stranded here. Maybe perpetual salty rain was something that happened a lot from their world. She's heard weirder stuff. Like raining mangled body parts.

Sigh...If I don't go back to the castle soon, Ame and Mira would get angry. Everyone here would probably either get transformed into mermaids by tomorrow or die. Iroha gazed at the setting sun, then back at the group of stranded humans.

"Well, uh, it's getting a little late. And I need to get back to the Castle. So yeah. Bye. And don't forget to uh stay hydrated. Whatever it is that you guys do to not die."

Iroha quickly slipped away, back into the now very dark forests.

The Scrying Rite | Nakanotorishima Castle

Current Time: Evening of Day 1 | Prologue
The Game has yet to begin. Everyone may speak and act freely.

Quote from The Rite
Of the nine, stranded on this island,
Two chose the word of the dark, enlightened.
The vile curse of the two,
shall continue even if they are born anew.
And so, the correct action to do,
Will be, for them, the crew,
To murder each other, til there remains only one.
Faction or person? That is unimportant, for it shall have begun.

...

"Ah, I must go to rest. This rite has drained much of my energy."

"Very well, Mira. Please rest well, for there is no telling what might happen tomorrow. I shall interpret the rite and decide on our course of action."

Mirahime made her way to her quarters as Amehime turned towards the scattered pieces of old parchment before her, and began to write.

"Of the nine, stranded on this island"

- 9 people have been stranded on the island
- It is likely they are humans

"Two chose the word of the dark, enlightened"

- 2 of the 9 people are the cause of the vile rain
- They worship a dark deity (Imber Tempestarii surely)
- Perhaps they know something the 7 other people do not
- I shall dub them as "Rainmakers". For now, at least

"The vile curse of the two"

- As expected, the two of them had cast a curse on the island
- Likely not just any curse

"Shall continue even if they are born anew"

- The curse will continue even if the Rainmakers are reborn into something else
- Converting them into mermaids will not suffice
- They will have to figure out which two of the nine are Rainmakers themselves. A threat of death shall certainly suffice

"And so, the correct action to do, Will be, for them, the crew, To murder each other, til there remains only one."

- It seems that they shall murder each other until only one side remains. Destiny is cruel, but alas
- Perhaps the ritual is speaking of the ancient performance of Ōmagatoki
- I shall ensure this happens

"Faction or person? That is unimportant, for it shall have begun."

-It is clear the ritual is speaking of the performance
- I shall investigate the book and learn about it once more

Irohahime Uchiumi

Ōmagatoki... I might need to read that book.

“I could get it for you, but it’s old and probably going to break down when it touches water. So I guess I’ll have to convince Ame and Mira to let you into the Castle” Iroha continued, her voice lively and cheerful as always. “Oh, is the loop about the Samsara? The cycle of reincarnation or something? I’ve seen it written in a lot of other tomes and stuff too.”

“Well, you’re safe from those grumpy-sounding deities here. Like I said, they can’t cross the Expanse without them and their powers dissolving.”

She peeked at the girl with the eyepatch, sighing a little before turning back to Paiyoon.

This is really quite fun. I wonder if there’s a spell that makes more people get stranded on this island.

Amehime and Mirahime | Nakanotorishima Castle

Current Time: Evening of Day 1 | Prologue
The Game has yet to begin. Everyone may speak and act freely.

"Ah, Mira. I suppose you have returned with useful information. Judging by the way you look."

"You are correct. One of the mermaids has informed me of an Imber Tempestarii. A dark goddess of disaster. With plans of traversing the Expanse. Perhaps through using our island as a checkpoint of sorts."

"That is not completely unheard of. The same goddess has attempted that multiple times in the past, it appears."

"That is true. But her powers would be neutralized by the Expanse. The flooding would have to originate from her followers drawing from her power at a distance."

"Which explains why Nakanotorishima wasn't instantly flooded. That theory is quite sound. Now, let us participate in a scrying rite, to determine what our next course of actions shall be."

Irohahime Uchiumi

(iroha and her sisters are water empresses. basically a powerful water elemental.)

"Mafia? Werewolf? I don't think so. The closest thing I've heard of is some ancient ritual done by those demon-divine creature things you talked about earlier called Ōmagatoki. I think they were used by those creatures to grow stronger through the powerful emotions that you humans release in those situations?"

Iroha took a step forward. "I'm not too familiar with it. I've only read it in a book from the Archives in the Castle. Oh, and you don't have to worry about me getting wet. I'm a water empress, which means I'm practically from that stuff."

She directed her attention to Dennis, ruffling her pink hair a bit. "I don't know what she's talking about either, so I'm pretty much in the same boat as you are. Oh, speaking of boats, did you get here through one of those? I've seen someone get here with only a raft before. They were pretty much dying when they got here."

"And my magical powers aren't great enough to do stuff like that anyway, and there's not really much of a point to get you to fear us anyway since our powers are tied to our identity. Maybe Ame has enough magical prowess to do that, but I definitely don't."

Iroha stopped to take a breath. "Are you guys hungry? The forest has plenty of fruits and plants you can eat. And if you're thirsty you can probably just drink water directly from the Expanse. It's holy and we don't get saltwater here."

Mirahime Uchiumi | Lake Kurage

Current Time: Evening (Day) | Prologue
The Game has yet to begin. Everyone may speak and act freely.

"Ah, a dark goddess of disaster, you say? That is quite interesting. Perhaps she has some involvement in this...incident."

Mirahime was thankful the mermaids could provide at least a little useful information. There surely was something they knew that wasn't recorded in the Nakanotorishima Archives after all. She and Amehime were not the most diligent writers ever.

"Yes, er...Lady Mirahime. If I recall correctly, her name is Imber Tempestarii." A mermaid chimed in. "She wasn't a creation goddess or anything. Just power-hungry. You know how gods are."

The mermaid continued. "It might be possible that she is attempting to traverse the Expanse. Before I was stranded here, I vaguely remember someone saying she was planning to, er, do that."

"That would be around 150 years ago. I suppose it is plausible, for millennia pass at the blink of an eye as a god." Mirahime replied, with a slight semblance of thankfulness in her voice.

"I shall return to the castle for now. Rest assured, me and Amehime will make sure the rain stops in at most a few days."

Irohahime Uchiumi

"Ooh, hello! What's your name? Mine is Irohahime Uchiumi, which means I'm one of the nobles living on the island. And I'm also one of the three actual people living here. If water empresses count as people, heh." Iroha replied excitedly. One could only wonder how such cheerfulness lasted so many millennia of entrapment.

"The mermaids on this island like calling me Lady Irohahime, but that's totally way too formal, so you can just call me Iroha. I can show you around if you like, although it'd probably look better in your eyes if it wasn't raining~"

Iroha ruffled her light pink hair, which was surprisingly barely wet from the light drizzle. "Oh, you don't have to worry about finding demons here. The water around this island is sacred, which means no divine creatures can cross it. So yeah."

And I'm fairly certain you'll be experiencing some violence soon too. That's too bad. I don't want to know how Mira turns people into mermaids.

She turned towards Brooke curiously. "A murder game? I don't think we do these here. I mean, I don't think the mermaids would be very keen on murdering each other for fun. Oh, and do you guys happen to know anything about the rain. Apparently it's bad."

(Night will start when all characters have spoken at least once. The actual "mafia" part of the roleplay will start at the beginning of the next day.)

Nakanotorishima Castle

Current Time: Evening (Day) | Prologue
The Game has yet to begin. Everyone may speak and act freely.

"This is utterly ridiculous. What could possibly be the cause of this incident?"

"...I have not a clue. The mermaids have been very persistent in their nagging, even after I have assured them the rain will cease soon."

"Nagging is quite possibly all they are good at. Contracts cannot be reversed, as you know, so there is no use in taking their words with importance. What is important is the salt within the foul rain cast upon us."

"That I am aware of. Whatever magical property it contains will surely destroy our island if not properly neutralized in time."

"That is likely correct. Please, if you could, request Iroha to search the island for any contaminants that could have washed up from the Expanse. I will attend to other matters for now."

"Alright. Then I will look into anything that might be related to rain that the mermaids might know about."

Irohahime Uchiumi

Iroha lightly sighed as she traversed through the all-too-familiar forests of Nakanotorishima. Being the one that was always assigned the boring tasks really sucked. Being stuck on an island for thousands of years and possibly thousands more also really sucked.

She actually semi-welcomed the change in scenery a little. Rain was hard to come by on the distant island, only forming when Amehime used her freshwater-summoning powers to water all the plants on the island at once. She found it mildly more interesting than listening to the stories of humans that one day found themselves on the phantom island.

Before they inevitably got bewitched by Mirahime and turned into mermaids, of course. It was quite unfortunate for them, but that was the harsh reality. Nothing that discovered Nakanotorishima could leave, so they might as well make themselves comfortable on the island.

Iroha spotted something out of the corner of her eye as she reached the shores of the island. It was...a camp? Settlement? Something of that sort, surely. She would have to tell this to Amehime when she returned back to the castle, but for now, maybe she could have a little fun. Before Amehime murdered them all or something.

"Heyyyy, fellow creatures of self-awareness~ May I ask what you guys are doing on this island?"
