Third Person POV

"Don't," Chika said firmly. Tears, now solidly glistened in her eyes. "Don't say that. I've accepted it. I'm fine, I killed him. I-I accept that I deserve to die now."

"Dammit-" Chika turned to Hisoka. Furious tears streamed down his face. "Goddammit, why does it have to end like this?"

"Puhuuhuh~ I presume you've all said your goodbyes? Ready for the execution?"

Amano's eyes widened.

"No! Not yet- not while- not right now-" He looked helplessly between Chika and Hisoka.

Chika started for Hisoka. He didn't look up as she stopped in front of him.

She laid a hand on his shoulder. "It's okay," she whispered. "You don't need to grieve." She smiled through her tears. "See? It's all fine."

Hisoka finally looked up. "...Right."

"I'm ready, Monokuma," Chika said, turning to the bear. Her face set into a cold smile. "Start the execution."

"Puhuhuuhu~ I have prepared an extra special punishment for the Ultimate Author! Let Punishment Time... Begin!" His mallet thrust down, and slammed into a button.

[Between bolded sections the execution will play. Do not read if you are sensitive to gore.]

And then a glass container dropped down, landing on top of Chika, encasing her like a bug.

Hisoka gave a cry, staggering back several steps. Chika gave them all a wave. And then, something stabbed up between her feet.

Her eyes went wide.

The sharp blade of an enormous pen was slicing through the limited floor she had. She danced, narrowly missing the slashes- it stabbed into her foot and she choked-

And then, the circle fell out.

[Safe Spot]

And the enormous screen at the other side of the room began playing out her execution.

First person.

I didn't watch the execution. I didn't see how she died. How she was punished.

I couldn't get the sick feeling out of my stomach. My heart was in my throat.

The pounding of my skull was the only thing I could hear.

That, and a high-pitched whining in my ears.

As my fingers dug into my skull, and my palms covered my eyes, leaving my vision a void- I repeated the same thing to myself, over and over again.

"Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop."

I was confused as to why I felt this...disgusted, traumatized about what had just happened.

It felt..wrong.

I didn't think death would've been the answer to this.

Make it stop.

I didn't want to be here another moment, a part of this...group of potential murderers.

Knowing surely well that one of them could kill me.

Make it stop.

I retched.

Make it stop.

My body shuddered.

Tears sprung into my eyes.

Make it stop.

Make it stop.

Please.

I watched, my face blank as I barely registered how she died. All that mattered was that she died. The second person. It's serious.

Narrator

[Check Previous Warnings]

The screen broadcast the carnage for all of the students to witness.

Chika was thrust into a massive writing office with a maze of doors. Before the short girl could even take a sharp breath, even sharper blades- disguised as feather pens- lunged for her midsection, tearing through the wallpaper.

The spikes were slowly being lowered from the ceiling as well. Ducking and dodging, and getting slashed open more often than not, she tried each door only to see a wall behind. Panic lit in her eyes- the spikes were closing in-

She opened a door. Light.

She leapt through-

And promptly fell through a hole.

She collapsed onto an enormous white mattress. The girl, out of breath, didn't even have a chance to push herself upward before an enormous stapler strapped her to it.

A Monokuma robot popped up, wielding a machine. The crane of the machine was writing. A sentence, something that Chika couldn't see-

Her eyes closed, and just as she did so-

It impaled her for the final period.

[Warning Over.]

The screen shut off. The students were left in stunned silence.

Then Amano choked out a sob.

Niwa and Suko simultaneously lunged for Keiki.

Keiki Meyumi.

Keiki groaned.

They opened their eyes blearily, blinking back the yellow spots that danced in their vision. Their head swayed, and a rush of vertigo overcame them.

Make it stop.

Chika was dead.

Make it stop.

And they....they helped solve the murder. And got her killed, as a punishment. Keiki sighed again. Eyes on the floor, unmoving, silent.

Third Person POV

Suko gripped Keiki tightly, keeping them up. They cast a glare at Niwa. Niwa's face visibly trembled, but they swallowed and gave a shaky nod, stepping back.

Hisoka's face had lost all colour. He just stared listlessly at the black screen. His cheeks were hollowed, mouth slightly open. He didn't even move when Amano touched his shoulder.

Two of their classmates were dead.

And none of them had been able to stop it.

"Puhuhuhuu~ How despairful!"

And of course, the bear spoke up.

"Are you enjoying her dying throes? The knowledge that you failed them both? That you are too cowardly to stop your own deaths from occurring?" Monokuma practically purred. "How lovely! I never could've imagined an outcome so wonderful!"

Keiki Meyumi.

I spoke no words. I was silent, being supported only by Suko. If they were to let go, I would fall into pieces.

Keiki trembled.

"Are you enjoying her dying throes? The knowledge that you failed them both? That you are too cowardly to stop your own deaths from occurring?"

Keiki's eyes shone angrily. The usually-emerald coloured hues of their eyes darkened. Fists clenched, knuckles turned white.

It took all of Keiki's will not to start sobbing.

...

.....

They gave up. Keiki slumped down on the floor.

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume watched the execution go down. She found that she couldn't look away. ". . ." She wasn't... that upset. But. This was most definitely disturbing to watch.

She'd seen worse, however... Slowly, she turned and glared at Monokuma. "Listen. You can't treat people's lives like meaningless toys, you ridiculous, poorly-designed stuffed bear! I-" What am I saying?... This shouldn't even be bothering me.

Suzume found herself going silent, at a loss for words. Why was she, of all people, afflicted so harshly by witnessing this? She paused, pondering the problem. Was the cause of death a disturbing one? Had she somehow cared for that girl, despite not knowing her? Did the idea of an experiment like this seem like too much?

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai glanced around at the surrounding people, seemingly harshly stricken by what had just happened. But Kowai most certainly wasn't. She decided, that she would have to play the optimist. Shaking, she spoke. "L-Listen, everyone!" she stammered. "We can't lose hope and kill each other! We can't let this tear us apart. We can't let... Nagisa and Chika's deaths... be in vain!" Whatchamacallit and What'shername? Who cares.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi was breaking down crying. And he found himself almost vomiting. He felt... faint... He turned to look at Keiki. "..." It seemed he wasn't the only one... who... was having such a hard time taking this. He heard Kowai's words. "Staying... positive? What good will that do? I'm gonna die! We're- we're all gonna die," he quickly added. "We have to be prepared... in case... something like this happens again," he whispered. "But we can't give up!" the girl chirped in response. "Come on, it's going to be okay!" "..." How could she be so optimistic?... (Narrator observation that Femi hadn't noticed: After all, the person who had previously acted like this was dead.)

Amano Tetsuo

"Puhuhuhu~ On the contrary-" Monokuma leaned in. "I can do whatever I like." The bear's red eye glowed, like a demon's from hell. Amano tore his eyes away.

He felt sick to his stomach.

This... this was all messed up. This was all so messed up!

"What are we going to do?" Niwa asked. His voice was raspy. Eyes were red. Amano couldn't piece him with the grouchy, smug boy from earlier. They were both so different. One was so confident, and the other...

So terrified.

Keiki was openly sobbing now. Suko was shushing them, but it wasn't doing anything. Their blue eyes were wide with distress.

Hisoka finally reacted as Kowai spoke. His eyes snapped around and he stared at her. Hope, horrible, unmistakeable hope surged in his eyes.

Then it crumbled to bits and so did his legs.

He fell to his knees.

Amano felt himself flinch, even though he already felt too numb inside to care.

What the hell happened to us?

Narrator

The Ultimates mourned the loss of their friends. Chika, Nagisa- both gone in an instant, just another pool of blood to add to the Ultimate Killing Game's tally.

But even more so, many of them mourned the loss of order.

The game was about to get a lot more deadly.

They could not trust each other before this murder.

How could they do so now?

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume Fujimori sighed. Drat, she was acting so irrational today. Two people, who she'd barely known, had died. Why was this even a big deal? Inhale, exhale, pull yourself together. You're a scientist, the picture of logic, rationale, focus, intelligence.

She scanned the room. She supposed they'd all have to leave the trial room now?... Suzume looked at everyone's facial expressions. Shock, horror, sadness, pain, anger. Suzume tapped the rim of her glasses with a frown. Any of these people could be susceptible to kill. Most people would be pretty shaken if two people had died...

Even if most had barely known them. She made her way over to Megami, the only person she...

No. She couldn't assume such things. Certainly, in another time and place, she might've been able to call Megami that. But you couldn't trust most people. Especially not in a situation like this.

All that person had done for her was... well, she gave her something, that was all. And they both thought in similar ways. So maybe there was a slight connection there. And, they... probably wouldn't kill each other?

"Hey, Megami. How are you holding up?" she asked her "slightly possibly trustworthy" acquaintance. "That was... intense, wasn't it?"

Kowai Kurai's POV

"..." Kowai let her eyes travel the room. It seemed that all the people there were rather shaken. But she couldn't give up the optimistic act so easily.

She approached Hisoka. "Hey! I guess the answer... wasn't quite what you thought it was, huh? But chin up! I'm sure you'll get better at solving these cases with time!" Kowai put a hand on his shoulder, that might've seemed reassuring, except it was tightly gripping his shoulder. "After all, we wouldn't want to be stuck on a case, would we? That'd be horrible!"

It would be horrible, indeed... very, very horrible. Absolutely horrible!

Femi Davis's POV

Femi Davis immediately ran to the elevator. He didn't want to talk to any of these people!! He just... he had... he had to get far away... he had to get far away!!!

He banged on the elevator doors. "OPEN!! PLEASE!! Open!!" He... he couldn't be stuck in here, not with a bunch of potential murderers... two... two innocent people...

Had already died... Femi burst into tears. Why was this happening? Was this all... a horrible dream?

Keiki Meyumi.

I can't trust them. I can't trust anyone. No one.

Nobody. Nobody. Nobody.

Keiki shuddered, and began to make way to the elevator.

Untrustworthy. They can kill you, Keiki.

Kill you.

Tears threatened to spill out of their green eyes.

Kill you.

Akihiro Okashi...

Her eyes glowed catlike in the shadowy corner she sat in. One blue, one green. Both glowed with anger.

She didn't speak, at all.

No contribution was made, when they were trying to figure out who the killer was.

She didn't care.

Not one bit.

Suko Nobu

At Femi's words, a flare of rage awoke within Suko.

How dare he.

How dare he.

"Get up," Suko snarled, stalking over to him. "Get off the floor! Stop this- this stupid self pity!" They glared up at Femi, their hands clenching into fists by their sides.

What had happened? How was- How was Chika dead?

Niwa Atsushi

Niwa tightened his grip on Keiki's arm. But not to hold them up. How could he, when his own legs were threatening to give out on him?

"Oh god," he breathed. His vision was blurry. "Oh god."

He should've- he should've pulled up- he should've stopped this all- he had to, he had to, he had-

"Puhuhuhuhu~ How despairful. Are you crying, Keiki Meyumi?"

Hisoka Yamanaku

All Hisoka could see was Chika's bloodied face. Those closed eyes, the unraveling braids splayed across a white mattress, those horrible words-

He exhaled a shaky breath.

And then he saw Kowai.

His vision went white with fury.

How dare she.

"Don't touch me," he snarled, tearing his shoulder from her painful grip. "Don't you dare-" His voice cracked.

Third Person POV

Monokuma practically purred at Keiki's glare. "Keiki shows their feisty side at last! Ah, but the mercy was not to last! I suppose all of my cute little students will want to hurt their dear headmaster now? How delightful!"

"Shut up!" Suko burst out. They turned on Monokuma with a snarl. "This is all your fault! Our classmates are dead! You killed them-!"

"No, dear student! I did not kill them! Chika committed the heinous act. And you chose to punish her for it."

Hisoka's face was pinched. "Be quiet," he growled. "Be quiet."

Niwa, on the other hand, finally had some colour back in his cheeks. He exhaled, loosening his grip on Keiki. But Suko was not to be sated.

"Just shut up!" they stormed. "Shut up, okay?" They whipped on their heel and strode through the elevator, vanishing from sight.

Amano's gaze had grown distant. He wasn't even looking at Monokuma. Just a smudge on the otherwise perfect wall. He blinked slowly.
