"Everything is going to be okay."
Third Person POV
Niwa took in a deep shuddering breath.
"Yeah. You're right." He squeezed his eyes shut. "You're right..." An impossibly sad look passed over his face. "Just toys..."
"Puhuhuhuhu~ Right you are, Megami no Koun!" Monokuma's eyes shone with mirth. "And isn't that sad?" He tilted his head to the side, a paw cradling his chin. "Isn't that so despairful?"
"Come on!" Suko called gruffly from the elevator. "Stop humouring the bear! We're heading back to school."
"It's trying to drive us against each other," Amano spoke at last. His voice was cracked in several spots. He didn't dare look up. "We... we need to... stick together... or else..." The glazed look came over his eyes again and he fell silent.
"Let's go, Keiki." Niwa tugged on Keiki's arm. "We'll head back now. For Chika and Nagisa." A sob rose in his throat.
Keiki put one arm around Niwa.
"Alright, let's go.
Y-yes. For them."
Keiki breathed shakily.
"Don't- don't think about it Niwa. Just don't. It's past, and there's nothing we can do about it. Please." Keiki whispered softly.
They ran a shaky hand through their hair.
"I-" Keiki paused for a moment, frowning. They shook their head.
"Never mind."
Third Person POV
Niwa's face froze onto his skull. He sucked in his cheeks... then gave a shaky nod. "You're right. I just-" Tears sprung to his eyes again and he quickly wiped them away. "I want us to get out of here," he said quietly. "Really... really badly." He looked away from them.
Then he forced a smile onto his face.
"Let's go." He wrapped his own arm around their shoulder, and helped them hobble towards the elevator.
"I want us to get out of here."
"I want us to get out of here."
Keiki gave a small smile. Niwa wasn't as selfish as Keiki first thought, before meeting him.
They often had bad impressions of people before meeting them, and Keiki was happy that they were proved wrong, just this once.
"I do to, Niwa."
Keiki paused.
"Sweetie."
They strained to hold their composure.
"I'm so sorry-!" They wheezed. "Not the right moment- to say...something like that-" Keiki said in between gasps of laughter.
They cleared their throat.
"I was trying to- uh...alleviate the tension- but-.."
"Ack-"
They rubbed the back of their neck sheepishly.
"Let's go to the elevator-" They muttered hastily, trying to change the conversation.
Niwa Atsushi
Buh-bump. Buh-bump. Buh-bump. Niwa's cheeks felt flushed with heat. Ah-! Why was he smiling? Why was he doing this? Someone has just died for God's sake, why was he feeling like this? Around that god-awful flirty Keiki of all people? The person who'd complained about a broken nail when their lives were at stake???
"Aaah-h-" Niwa stammered, unable to find words. "I- sweetie? I- Oh gosh- gosh-" They were tempted to bury their burning face in the other's shoulder, but figured it might make the present situation more awkward. "Elevator! Right! Elevator!" He practically dragged them forward. "Free to- free the elevator! Safety! No more- words-"
The two of them entered the elevator.
Hisoka gave them one look before sneering with disgust and turning away. Amano just blinked slowly and then looked at the ceiling, muttering something under his breath.
Suko glowered at the people still in the Trial Room.
"Hurry up!" they yelled.
They silently shook with laughter.
Practically howled with it.
Their eyes dripped tears of mirth.
...
But they were gone in an instant.
Keiki frowned.
...they hoped, hoped that this was all genuine.
That Niwa wasn't pretending-
Keiki shuddered.
If Niwa was- would it be all a trick- to kill them-?
Serendibite
"Okay, roleplayers!" I say as I monch obnoxiously on a biscuit. "I am looking forward to the event that will occur once they reach the school, so I am going to teleport all your characters inside the elevator. Understood? Good. I'm glad you understand. Yeeting powers of Monokuma."
And there we go! The elevator started gliding downwards, with every single character inside, nm nn.
"Sounds good!" I go into the kitchen to find a snack for the moment. The cupboards squeak as I notice something. A few seconds later and i'm back on the couch, annoyed by the bits of moisture on my tablet screen thanks to the handful of chips I ate.
Niwa Atsushi
Niwa finally exhaled as the elevator doors slid open. They were back to the wrecked cafeteria. They were back as if nothing ever happened.
He went stiff.
They were back... as if Chika hadn't died just ten minutes ago.
"Puhuhuuhuhuhuu~ Welcome back!" Monokuma popped up from the floor.
Niwa gave a yelp. "Y-You were back in the Trail Room! How'd you do that?!"
Monokuma ignored him, instead turning to face all of the students. The button eye glowed, somehow appearing to be looking down on them... rather than up as the small bear would have to. "My dear students~ I understand that this past day has been very, very stressful for you. Losing one of your friends... watching a horrid, bloody execution... You must all be in such torment! Your hearts must cry out from the despair compressing in on them!"
"Get to the point," Hisoka growled. But a quick glance told Niwa that he was intrigued, albeit in a very, very angry way.
"Puhuhuuhuh~ Of course, of course. Well, my lovely students, as you all know, with the first murder, the second floor was to be opened up! And I would never fall back on my promises! I'm a murderous death bear who executes children, not a promise-breaker! The shame~"
Suko's entire face twitched and they reached into their bag-
"And of course, Suko, there are new rooms to be explored up there! And one, my good friends, is the Drama Hall! Where a play put on by yours truly will take place, for your amusement."
"Count me out," Suko grouched, stalking off. "I'm not interested in your-"
"Attendance is mandatory."
Suko shot a hate-filled look at the bear, crossing their arms. Even the carefree Suko hadn't dealt well at all with Chika's death... Niwa felt his uneasiness grow.
Amano Tetsuo
Amano was swimming.
The waves crashed around his ears, cutting off all words. Just leaving him in his thoughts, and that horrible horrible guilt-
What if I stopped her? What if I questioned her further? Would I have been able to stop her from killing Nagisa? Convinced her all of us could've escaped together?
And then a roar, and another loud voice entered his head.
A play...
Put on for our amusement...
A story. That was just what Amano needed right now. Something to silence this horrible, horrible nose.
His nails dug bloody pits in his palms as he spoke. "I think we should do it," he said aloud. "It... It might be good for us."
But not Chika! his traitorous mind sing. She and Nagisa are dead, riiiight? And they won't ever get to hear another story, ever ever- ever ever ever ever-
He closed his eyes and the waves crashed over him again.
Third Person POV
Monokuma's grin grew so wide, it tore the fabric on the separate sides of his face. Metal flesh and blood stuffing peeked out at them.
"Are you sure you want to know?"
"When?" Hisoka cut in.
"Puhuhuhu~ You can see your school schedule on the cafeteria pinboard. Now, now," he said, seeing Hisoka's mouth open. "I'm sure my cute little students are capable of finding that in time? Ahah!" Monokuma gave them all a cutesy hop and wave. "No need to worry! You'll see me later. I'd never abandon my adorable, human children. Your mother would claw my ears!"
"Is this going to be a thing now?" Suko grumbled. The light in their eyes was alarmingly dim.
"Of course it will be!" Monokuma cackled, once more. "Human phrase expressing grief! Bear well, adorable ones!"
With a final cackle, the bear popped out of sight.
"I guess we have to go," Hisoka sighed. He looked exhausted. Had he gotten a moment of sleep the night before? Or was the grief that burdened his shoulders enough to bring perpetual exhaustion down on him? "I really don't want to know what that bear has planned... I doubt it'd be something as simple as death. That doesn't seem like his style at all."
"He'd prefer to drive us against each other," Amano spoke up. Then he promptly hunched in on himself again.
"I'll attend," Niwa murmured. He glanced at Keiki beside him. "Come with me." It was a barely disguised plea.
Third Person POV
"Drama," Niwa sighed. "Right." His shoulders dropped, eyes closing. He looked very, very tired.
"Something about what that bear said..." Hisoka's eyes narrowed. "I'm going to guess we won't have an easy time finding the bullet board."
"It's over here!" Suko called.
Hisoka's face instantly went blank. "Yes. Of course. Thank you."
