Looking towards the tables of liquid at the behest of the professor, the boy looked on in chagrin. They were to be instructed to drink their bellies full and then defeat a beast... He shook his head scouring the table with his eyes. Perhaps it was a trap? Too much liquid would slow the body down, causing the awkward sloshing feeling with every step for the next half hour... But not enough input of energy would leave one prone to sluggishness anyways.
Tea? No, without enough sugar, on it's own that was a bad idea... Wait.
The concoction to follow was fairly simple. The glass was filled with a mango juice. He swirled this around, pouring in a black tea accompaniment to about 1/4th. Black tea was known for its properties in providing a good morning boost and the mango had a high energy content by itself which would help to sustain it. He was fairly confident this would at least help enough to retain the energy needed for running around for the full hour.
He stands near the tables, sipping on the fruity mixed brew. Kynik wasn't exactly sure what his classmates would do but would remain for a short while to potentially easedrop on nearby conversation or get into one himself, to see what others plans were for tracking down a beast to fulfill their requirements.
Xavier would usually just drink water and not much else so most if not all of the beverages were new to him. He decided to just go with what he knows and drank a glass of water. Xavier looked at the forest to see how he would traverse through it and see where a beast most likely be as he drank his water.

Earnest gently rubbed his hands together, giving them an unnatural white glow. He had an urge to go all-out, but decided that slaying a Dark Elemental would be the perfect end to his second day. He stalked into the woods, ready to start a roaring fire.
Juzi didn’t answer, but walked up to the table of beverages, taking a small cup of dark liquid. ‘Probably black tea or coffee.’ She thought, sipping a tiny portion of it then putting it down and looking around at the other students, studying them.

Kynik swirled his glass in thought, finishing it off. This feat was honestly pretty quickly accomplished but 5 minutes out of 60 is too much time spent idling when he could be working. He sets a hand on the handle of his chosen blade, a favorite brought from home that had been gifted to him from one the house's knights he'd trained in footwork with. Not wanting to dilly dally, the man takes off in a slow jog, starting to make his way into the forest.
Tracking in general definitely wasn't something he had experience in. Had he known you could look for broken plants, brief scratches or disturbed fallen goods it probably would make it easier. However, a lack in knowledge of the skill would limit his thoughts to footprints... Not that this was an area suitable to producing them.
Hearing a sound though near a clearing, the boy squats his way through a bush, peeping out.
Up ahead, chewing on the soft berries of a different kind of bush seemed to be some form of... What could only be described as a porcupine-like beast, a soft rounded head with long quills sticking out of the rest of it. A quick glance might have made the mistake but this was a lot bigger and definitely not the same. He was slow to draw his blade, continuing to watch the unfamiliar creature unless another rustling sound drew both of their attentions. The source of noise did not reveal itself, however the beast had flared its quills in reaction, sparks of electricity arcing between the long spikes.
Kynik hesitated. He wasn't quite sure what kind of mana that belonged to, maybe energy? But electricity and a sword really didn't mix well. It would be best to sneak away and find a new target.
Walking deeper into the forest, Samton saw quite a number of creatures. Mostly animals, with the exception of a few fire cats and small rats (earth elemental) and the like. As he decided to sit down for a bit, he heard a distinct sound.
Hissss
...
Very slowly, Samton turned in the direction of the hiss, to see a black serpent. Immediately, it sprung to bite him. Dodging it by the nick of time, Samton caught the serpent. In his hands, it immediately turned to dust.
Tien's path seemed rather active, with many beasts passing him by. Soon, he reached a cave-like structure. As if to greet him, a horde of bats flew towards him, only to fall prey to his dual-wielded swords.

Black Serpent
Fast and lethal, the black serpent is considered to be one of the stronger species in the forest. Snakes are usually followers of the Snake Spirit of Earth. However, the black serpent swore its loyalty to the black panther spirit. The snake spirit, despising the black serpent for it, cursed the black serpent to be weak to earth as well. This is why it is advised to fling rocks at them, but not at any other kinds of snakes.
The above story was considered a legend until it was confirmed by Sage Gro U Don, who was able to converse with the spirits.
Juzi finished her drink, then walked into the forest, Ezria trailing along behind her. After some time, she walked into a meadow, and there seemed to be no beasts around. ‘Guess I found the peaceful part of the forest today..’ she thought, picking a tree and sitting on a tall branch, the light breeze blowing her long hair.

The bird continued to follow him though and this made him more suspicious of it. At one point he stopped to look at it and see if it was possibly a beast in disguise. That was then when the bird produced an ear piercing sound. Xavier quickly covered his ears but the sound was still strong. When the sound stopped Xavier looked at the bird then noticed that a small group of similar looking birds was coming towards them.
'That bird must be a air elemental, I heard that when air elementals go crazy they would use a air category called 'sound''.' Xavier took at a look at the group of birds 'I think this bird might be territorial and it just called its friends' Xavier thought to himself as he took out his sword ready to fight the tiny birds. They would be like small arrows trying to go at fast speeds to fly through the air and attack him, but we would easily dodge most of them. The birds weren't that hard to deal with since they were small and would usually take one or two hits to take down. Though every once an a while they would make the same ear piercing sound which made it harder and longer to defeat the entire group as Xavier would have to cover his ears

a darkness elemental is nearby , it's wolf with a pack we need to get rid of it! before it does something bad!"
Not wanting to tangle with electrocution, Kynik sneaks away from the porcupine-like creature to make his way deeper into the forest. Nearby, the trees were growing denser, the space between trees becoming thinner.
It would take a few minutes before the boy realized an unease had settled over him that had started near the last creature he had seen. He pauses, back against a tree, taking a look at his surroundings. Everything certainly seemed normal.
A little further on, he kneels in a sparse clearing, noting the cloven hoofprint left behind in a bit of hardened mud. This was likely an old track, kicked up shortly after the weather a while ago. He furrows his brow in frustration standing up. "It's almost like they purposely sent us in here without explaining how to find these things because they expect them to find us instead." The swordsman mumbles to himself, the unease settling in once again causing him to grip the handle of his sheathed sword in one hand.
He freezes, a jolted feeling washing over as he reacted, pulling the blade from its leather hold and swinging the arc upwards behind him. It would come to connect with the claws of a black beast midpounce, leaving it to bounce off towards the ground and causing a shift in Kynik's weight with a small stumble before he turned towards it.
On her trek and journey to find a dark aura-ed creature, Cherali found it. It was built like a normal human, only just a shadow off its floor. It was exactly the monster in the stories her mother told her, stories built on the fallacy that monsters of these types even existed.
The second of fear was over, the monster dashed straight towards her. Now it was the second to run, and as she did, the tremor of anxiety washed over her. A stick tripped her after a few seconds, the monster seized her arm. Its unbearable strength clashed with Cherali, she made one scream and punched the shadow with her open arm. Her fist did nothing to help. The shadow grabbed both of her arms and dragged her somewhere. Every scream she made only seemed to be halted by her draining energy. The screams stopped;
"Quoth the Raven, 'Nevermore'" the shadow whimpered, as it dragged the body onward.
"You should smile more~" - Loba Andrade, Apex Legends
He then heard a scream to his right. He stood up quickly, then sprinted towards the source, finally stopping at another part of the forest. He looked around, there seemed to be blade marks and signs of a big fight on the trees. Nervous, he looked down at the ground to see a trail of someone being dragged away. Hesitating a bit, he decided to follow the trail.
