Royal Academy: Mages And Knights
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Royal Academy: Mages And Knights“hey~ what’s with that awkward grammar there Tien” Kayeru said with a mocking tone to Tien after he left Samton. She kinda hopes Tien won’t be angry at the tease since she wants to be closer to the two, especially since she didn’t really have a lot of friends prior to coming to the academy. Of course she won’t admit that

Samton, who had already left with Prof Angler, was rather intrigued to see Tien laughing. He could see from his expression that there was some teasing going on. Knowing Tien, it was probably mutual. As he's distracted, he bumps into the person in front of him.
"I'm extremely sorry!" As Samton tried to help him up, he noticed who that person was; "Aoba of Tsumugi household, right? We've met before at the Palace. Nice to meet you here!" As Samton propped himself up, he gave Aoba a warm smile.

"Oh I'm so sorry again! Tsumugi of the Aoba family, yes. And please do call me Samton. We don't do ranks here, remember?" Samton's inner voice was screaming curses at himself. How could he forget something as crucial as that!!
Clearing his voice, he said "well as it is, it's not the time to look proper anymore, Tsumugi-kun. We are the future army after all! But I apologize for my unruliness."
"By the way, you're a mage, I believe. Which spirits do you follow?" Samton smiled as he asked the question.
Despite being stupid enough to have forgotten their origins, he had met Tsumugi before a while. Having met him at a gathering once, Samton immediately knew this guy was different. There was a lack of the air of fraud most of the nobility surrounded themselves with. He valued that a lot, although he had not been able to meet him afterwards.

The Country of Wa
An islandic country, Wa lies to the east of the Goldenbach kingdom. A small yet stable nation, their isolation from foreigners for a while has lead them to develop a vastly different culture in comparison to most of the central kingdoms. Known as the native place for a huge variety of sea food as well as rice, a wheat-like grain, Wa's trades with the central nation has brought a much bigger variety of foods to the table. Also popular are their imperial warriors, known as 'Samurai's. Their cuisine, named "Japanese cuisine", is famous throughout the world. Other important distinctions include saying the family name before their own, as well as using honorifics with nearly every name.
Recently, parchments from there with stories drawn in columns from right to left order, named manga, have been very popular among some of the citizens
DISCLAIMER: The country of Wa has been described focusing on the stuff we regularly see in anime and the like. It is an exaggerated version of the Japan as described in many anime/manga, fixed to fit the time period of the rp.
But as for Samton's question, Tsumugi had to ponder a bit. He wasn't familiar with what spirits linked with which elements, having self studied entirely through snippets of conversation and whatever books he could get his hands on, but he knew which magic he had an affinity for. It would seem suspicious if he didn't answer soon though, so he settled for only saying the element, not the spirit in hopes that he wasn't breaking some sort of unspoken magical rule by doing it. "I resonate most with Energy and Light magic. Not very impressive, even I must admit."

Upon hearing the answer, Samton replied rather quickly. "Not very impressive? Surely you jest! The butterfly spirit of light is rather rare, you know! Not to mention, having an element like light will make the enhancements from the energy element much better." Samton smiled yet again. "You know, the barriers created from light magic are one of the beginning preparations for almost all battles. Strengthen it with energy and you have a wall very few mages could singlehandedly destroy. When time is of the essence, light magic is what saves the fight." Samton brushed his hair back, something he does to cool himself down. "Sorry, I got too excited there. I'm a light element user too. Along with Earth and Water."

She walked to the nearest bed in the women's dorm, placed down her small, ripped apart bag, and pulled out the only thing in it; A dictionary-sized, crimson book. It had been her mother's old spellbook. Cherail flipped around the pages, looking at the small doodles of stick figures and red phoenixes her mother used to draw with her. The stick figures were her, her mother, and her father, and another family of phoenixes that represent their human counterpart. The young mage smiled as she flipped the pages of the book, it was adorable to see her mother's drawings in collision with her own. The last two pages seemed bonded together, like one page, Cherail tried ripping it apart, failing, and also tried using a bit of spark to ignite it. No budge. It seemed the thicker page had been magically stuck together, Cherail's mother never taught her this!
She had to study this phenomenon later, and ask a teacher to unbind it for her.
For now, she sat on her bed, looking around at the scenery. After placing her book beneath her bed, it was surely hard to not look around the dorm. Paintings of great wizards, warlocks, and witches, none of her mother or father. She accepted that, after all, a person who lives in the woods is a person who practically unknown to anyone, sadly.

Kynik though, aware of his deviance from the family norm, had set sights on the blade, training with the house's Knights when they finally let him on the grounds. Approval 2 years later than his family's norm, he would be starting the academy in the Knight's course at the ripe age of 18.
The trek down the hill was quite the opposite matter. Walking was boring, now flying?
Kynik would have practically bounced his way down the hill, allowing the gravity to take control of his speed, feet only connecting with the ground just long enough to send him off the steep angled grasses into the air again. It wasn't exactly flight but it was a thrilling experience he often experienced at home during morning runs. He reached the bottom, adjusting his footing to avoid falling over and laughed. There were a few others that had likely done the same thing but he watched with a wide grin as the other marched their way down in following.
The food court... had been filling. He might have talked to his neighbor but it wouldn't last beyond small talk. Guidance appearing, the man would end up following Sir Fisch to the appropriate dorm for his course.
Standing at the opening of door, he stands in a wide stance eying the inside. "Other than the uphill march this morning this place seems more pampered than I expected. However, whatever they're doing it must work given their reputation."
He stretches an arm, walking through to the Knight's Dormatories.

-Le flashback-
Smoke, water, corpses. Luna was too young to know what was going on. All she remembers is being whisked away to a river and left there. All the people who watched over her, or that she likes, have been killed. So, she refrains from socializing.
Welp, time for class.
The students were woken up by a loud sound before the break of dawn. "Isn't it only the fifth hour, sir???" A voice was heard. Principal Sparmi was the one to reply, "Get ready, you're going trekking at 6. All of you." A sleepy Samton pulled himself up, drank a glass of water and proceeded to brush his teeth. Breakfast would be after this, I guess. He said to himself as he made some water from his fingertips to wash his mouth. After his daily routine, Samton stepped outside the dorm. He could see some second years and third years having practice duels in the field. The sun would rise soon; he thought as he used earth magic to make himself a little seat and sat down.
Tien was brushing his teeth when he heard the call of Sparmi, followed by quite a bit of protests. To Tien, however, 5 o' clock was not 'too early' by any means. He was used to getting up at this time to prepare for the prince, who himself usually got up at around 5:30.
Finishing his daily routine, Tien decided to walk to the mages' dorms. Seeing Tien arrive, already seated Samton gave a little wave and then looked at the ground. Immediately next to him now was another 'Earth Seat', equal in size and height as Samton's. Tien took the seat.
