Background Drawing Contest

(Because someone should save that Buizel from the ice!)
There already is a background like that, so please don't take that seriously

PokéHeroes has some lovely backgrounds to choose from, but ever since the Banner Contest, you have a lot more banners to choose from in comparison to the amount of Backgrounds. Admittedly, this makes matching a little harder.

I'd draw them all myself, but unless you want a bunch of L-shaped pokémon, I don't think there's much for me to do. I tried our Puzzle provider, who gave us our first batch, but they seem to have stopped their shop and gone fishing. . . Weird, must be the weather. I know there are a lot of talented artists on this website. Maybe. . . ?

This is where you guys come in :3 I'll give you all the necessary information and then you guys can design the Background to your liking. Imagine, thousands of users on PokéHeroes, seeing a background you designed on every page. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? So don't hesitate and take out those drawing tablets and drawing pencils! I can't wait to see what you all can come up with :3

Reward time
Now, as this is a contest, there should be a prize, even if art can be a fun and frustrating activity all on its own. Aside from the feeling of winning, the top 5 Backgrounds will also be immortalized as a thumbnail on the Style Settings-page.
That's not all! The artists of those Backgrounds will also receive a 3-month premium!

Even if you enter and qualify, but don't win, you'll still get a consolation/participation prize of 1-week premium for the effort you put into your art.

Artwork Requirements
Accepted File Types: .PNG
Image Size: 1920 x 1080 px (width x height)
Artwork Type: Digital, no transparency [final product]
Artwork Design: Have Fun! Instead of just writing a whole text, I'll make a list to hopefully give you a better overview of what to do and what to look out for (:
1. Please have details/interesting stuff along the side. The actual website will be covering the middle, so putting any elaborate details there is not a good idea.
2. It has to fit at least 1 of the existing banners. It can be made to fit several or focussed on one specific banner, but there should be at least 1 match. We're trying to make a set (;
3. No OCs or PokéSonas. Emera Pokémon are fine, but same as with the Banner, these are supposed to be for everyone, not just you. This also excludes the OCs or PokéSonas of Staff.
4. Due to the nature of the prize, we reserve the right to decide a submission is excluded from the consolation prize if it's clear no real effort [less than 30 minutes of work] was put into the artwork.
5. Aside from matching banners, there's no theme to them, so let that (digital) pen flow!
File Upload: Please upload it to a website that doesn't delete it within the next 30 days and allows third-party viewing. (Recommended: sta.sh, imgur.com, imgbb.com)
Copyright: The artwork has to be drawn completely by you. You are not allowed to include images from other artists, including official art. Entries from previous years also can't be (re)submitted, even if it would still fit the theme somehow.

Please send your finished artwork through PM to CatLady. Put "Background Drawing Contest" as the title [without "]. Keep this title, even with several entries, as I'll be able to see all entries (:

Make sure you also post a message in this thread, a simple "Entry/Entries submitted" works perfectly to help me keep track of all the entries, without drowning in my PM-inbox ^^

Deadline
The deadline is January 29th, 23:59.
The winners will be chosen by us, the staff, based on quality.
The results should be revealed on the 5th of February.

Can I ask what the size the Pokeheroes page on top of the banner is? I’d hate to accidentally have something cut off because I guessed wrong, and I’m typically on mobile so I’m not very familiar with the dimensions.

Do you mean the userbar? It's part of the 'middle' and doesn't stretch beyond the pokéheroes lay-out. So if you draw the sides, nothing will cover it up.

I meant like the actual middle part where you play all the pokeheroes stuff. I wanted to be sure I don’t draw something in a space where the middle part covers it up partially.

@Oshakiel - at 100%, the middle is about 863px wide [then a 14px padding, so about 877px are covered in the middle.

Keep in mind that some part being covered isn't bad. It doesn't have to be a disconnected scene at the side. It would only be a problem if the majority of the image is covered by the actual website (:

Just a little question about how these background images work: I think, they will "repeat" endlessly over the site, right? I mean, if you can scroll down longer, the background image will repeat itself over and over until you scroll to the end. So it would be better if we create a seamless background, right?

@Akemie - Have you ever paid attention to the background? It's static ^^ Scrolling only moves the website in the middle, the background doesn't move (:
