“Of course! See ya in a bit!” Emerald said happily as he then went
in the direction of the food hall, waiting for Fortem to follow
him. He could smell the toast and cereal..
Fortem trotted after his friend, following close behind. His
sensitive nose twitched at all of the scents - the moist island
smell, the scent of flowers, and now, the smell of food.
Audax went and unpacked his few items into his room - namely books,
he didn't want to lose any of them. The flight had somehow
exhausted him, and he followed the smell of pancakes and other
breakfast foods until he reached one of the many resturaunts of the
hotel. If paradise had a smell, this would be it. He'd caught up to
Emerald and Fortem. Half of him wanted to pad up and say hi, but
the other, more anxious part of him, held his paws firmly to the
ground he stood. He didn't want to mess anything up.
Emerald, being able to sense aura, pulled Audax near them once they
were close.
The breakfast hall wasn’t too busy...thankfully. There was the
usual types of breakfast here. “Let’s quickly eat! Then we can show
Audax our room and we can have fun!” Emerald giggled happily. “We
need to have a bounce-off Fortem.”
"Bounce off...?" He thought for a moment. "Sure! Sounds good."
"only if that works for you,"
he heard Audax mumble quietly, amidst the chatting of the
restaurant. Fortem's first impression of Audax was just that he was
pretty polite and shy, a lot like he was before meeting Emerald. He
was walking lightly beside Emerald, as if he was trying to sneak
around. His tail was held low to the ground, like it was saying
"don't mind me". All the knights had told him it was a good idea to
try and get a grasp of who someone was by the way they presented
themself, but to be open to being very wrong. Fortem found it was a
good and fun exercise to pass the time.
Emerald held him a little closer. “Please don’t be shy...it’s gonna
be alright, we’re all gonna have fun!” He said happily. “No one is
going to get left out, I’m not allowing it!” He picked out some
toast to eat
Audax gave a small smile, be for averting his gaze, and looking
back at the food. This looked like a buffet style... Audax didn't
know what to choose! In the end, true to his nature, he settled on
a little bit of everything - fruits, breads, pancakes, nuts, and
more - with a glass of some sort of berry juice. He saw Fortem pick
out the same juice, before asking him, "Mago berry juice? You have
good taste." He laughed, and Audax found himself letting out a
small laugh as well, before settling down at their table.
"Ahh, the song is nice. It really fits the atmosphere." Fortem
commented, and Audax nodded. The lycanroc turned to face the eevee.
"Hey Audax, what do you do daily, and what do you like to do? If
you don't mind me asking of course," He added. Audax wasn't
expecting to be called on. "M-me? Hmm..." He thought about the best
answer for a moment. "Well... I like reading, and I spend most of
the time either working at Remus's, relaxing in Slepnir, reading,
sleeping, or going to the school of magic, I guess." He took a bit
of his toast, a little more relaxed. Fortem seemed like a nice guy
he could trust.
“Hey! You go to the school of Magic!” Emerald said happily. “You
must be really talented with mana!” He sighed as he leaned back on
his chair. “To tell the truth...I’ve been meaning to go
back...hopefully Fortem can get in too...” He murmured as he looked
at them both
Audax blushed at the compliment. "Once they affirm you do have
mana, its just practice," He stated, modestly. "It's fun and
interesting to learn, I think it would be cool if you two came..."
Fortem tilted his head. "What type of magic do you study?" He asked
Audax. "I'm learning dark magic," Now that Audax was talking about
something he liked, he was on a roll. "I only know two spells so
far, and have a lot of questions, but that means there's more to
study, and that's a good thing, right?" He responded. "What branch
do you think you'd learn?" He posed the question at both Emerald
and Fortem.
“Dark? That’s one of the hardest ones!” Emerald said in awe. “Ah
um...me? I’ve started on Wind Magic...I’ve done a bit already...”
He smiled nervously. “What about you Fortem? Didn’t you want to
create bubbles..?”
"Hmm... I do... I was thinking about light magic, though. I heard
theres a lot you can do with it, like supporting and healing
others... hopefully there's a way to make bubbles with that, so I
can knock out two opponents with one hit." He smiled.
Emerald looked at Fortem. “I was actually going to suggest Water
Magic! Remember? Saint Tenko taught you the basic spell already!
But light sounds cool! That was my father’s specialty!”
"Really?" Fortem tilted his head. "That's pretty cool! Maybe I can
do both, if I end up mastering one...? I'm probably thinking too
far ahead. I guess we'll see how it goes." He smiled.
“You have to do one first. But after you pass the final exam for
basic spells, you can take another! It’s on your own dime
though...” Emerald said uncertainly
Emerald giggled. “You’ll love it! I promise! Plus it’s a great way
to pass the time before the afternoon rave!” He got up from his
chair. “Though if you guys want to do anything else, lemme know!
The beaches, sea and pools wait!”
Fortem got up, and began slowly padding back to their room, waiting
for the others. Audax followed suit, not wanting to be left behind.
Things were going well so far.
