Shadow stretched. “What a beautiful day! You know what, I should
bring Lyra to come train with me! Maybe Amber and Skye too.”
Having made up his mind, Shadow went to visit Lyra. “Hey Lyra”, he
said. “Ya wanna come train with me? I know a pretty good place for
you to practice your archery, and maybe earn some coins!”
Lyra was going to hunt some monsters, she had 400 coins, but she
wanted to get some more for the guild and maybe drop some off at
the bank. She trotted over to the quest board, looking at the
posted quests, she decided to do one on her own. She chose one that
looked to be more of a challenge, it had robot lizards, and
dragons. It made sense why they would work together, so Lyra
headed off on her quest.
Silver, back at the guild, went to find her sister. If she could
pull the half-demon away from her sneaky friends, she wanted to go
on a little quest with her. There was a special thing she wanted to
try out. She wanted to go to the mountains, and find the secret
treasure. She figured that would be an intriguing enough quest to
get to spend some time with her newly evolved sister. Hopefully
she'd say yes....
Finishing some training alone, Alex proudly carried his new bronze
dagger in his mouth, happy that he had improved and learned to use
it. Maybe this wasn't such a bad idea. From a distance, he saw
Silver searching the guild halls for somebody, and decided to offer
his assistance. He jogged over to her. "Are you looking for
something?" Alex asked Silver as he approached. "I can help, if you
need."
Silver turned to the cat carrying a new dagger. "Oh! Alex! I was
just looking for my sister. You know, we both just evolved...and I
wanted to go on a special quest with her today...y'know, something
special. We haven't gone on a quest together in a while." She
didn't mention wanting to look for dragons in the mountains. Sh
ewasnted to investigate it, but didn't want any cat to get the
wrong idea. At least if any cat offered to come, they'd be less
likely to look for war, and she remembered how quickly Alex had
wanted to make a cat v dragon war. She wanted to investigate before
sending armies against them.
Alex nodded, understanding that silver probably wanted them to go
alone. "Let's search for Miko together," Alex suggested. "Then you
two can go off on your own." He had something positive to occupy
his mind with for now. That was good. Alex hoped to keep it that
way. He began looking around, hoping to find the dark purple
she-cat.
Strolling around the city, Shadow saw Alex talking to Silver. Maybe
bluntness was what Alex needed! Either way, if they were doing
anything, he wanted to help them with it, and maybe confront
Alex.
He walked up to Alex and Silver. “What’s all the commotion about?
He asked.”
Silver shook her head. "It's nothing. We're just off to find Miko."
She was honestly sure bringing up the demon cat's name would scare
the other cat off. She clearly wasn't getting him anywhere with the
sneaks, and besides, no one else really liked or understood Miko.
She turned back to Alex. "Thanks. Hopefully this'll be fun." She
kept moving on towards the fortress
Alex nodded, and continued looking. If they were looking for Miko,
she would almost undoubtedly be with the 'sneaks'. Where might they
hang out on a breezy afternoon? Alex pondered for a minute. "Do you
think she and the sneaks might be getting something to eat?" He
pondered out loud. "It's about lunch time."
"They'd probably hunt it themselves. They enjoy doing that. Let's
check the fortress first. If they're not there, I guess we'll have
to wait." The main problem for Silver, or any cat approaching Miko
while she was with her friends, was that the group was usually
discussing some of their secrets, and usually didn't like to be
disturbed or think there were cats eavesdropping on them. Hopefully
she could get her at a good time, if they waited to long, they
might come back from the quest late.
Miko does seem like the type who would want to hunt her own
food, Alex though. He began checking the rooms of the fortress.
He walked into one of the big halls, and saw the group from a
distance, huddling in a circle in the corner of the hall, most
likely talking about thinks they wouldn't want outside ears to
hear. "I think they're over there," Alex stated to Silver. "Don't
know if they're gonna want to be approached..."
"Then I'll try my super anti ninja technique." Silver said with a
wink. "MIKO!!" She called across the hall, causing the unsuspecting
black cat to bristle, then turn to glare at her sister. "What the
heck?" She paced over to them with an unamused expression
Alex stifled a laugh, then took a step back, not wanting to be in
the way if Miko approached. He did respect her, but she was still
sort of scary. The dark feline's fur was sticking up, as if she was
ready for a fight, and Alex had the sudden urge to draw his dagger
from his green cloth, now a makeshift sheath.
Miko glanced at Alex, then her sister. "What is honestly so
important that you simply must try to scare the
demons out of my soulfire?" She glared the chips of ice for eyes
coldly at her two guildmates. "It better be important." No,
seriously. Did they honestly think the Sneaks were just weirdos
that talked about sleepover stories? NO! They actually discussed
valid things, which she couldn't tell, and Silver barges in like
she's the boss or something? And what did Alex want?
"Silver wanted to go on a quest with you," Alex responded, before
realising that Silver might have wanted to tell that to Miko
herself. Oh well. His search with Silver had reignitied some of his
rashness. "I was just helping her look for you, thats all." Alex
pointed out, not wanting Miko to be any more mad than she already
was. He wondered what the group was doing that was so important
that Miko was this angry, or if Miko was like this literally all
the time. He found himself thinking that the latter option was more
probable.
"Oh? Where did you want to go?" Miko stretched her wings, looking
forward to some exercise. She wanted to test them out some more,
and with Silver evolved, maybe she'd get that now that they both
had the ability to fly. Silver flicked her fluffy tail towards
where the gates were outside and said simply. "The mountains." She
gave her sister a challenging stare. "Y'know, where that tower is?"
She winked at her sister. She knew that Miko knew exactly what she
was talking about. The tower in the mountains was rumored to be the
home of the dragons, and had great treasure. Silver wanted to
investigate the dragons with someone she both got along with, and
was good enough to sneak through.
Alex watched the two sisters chat, like they were sharing some sort
of inside joke that Alex didn't know about. He wondered what the
tower was, as it sounded really cool, but now didn't feel like the
right time to ask. He used the time to make his exit. "I'll leave
you to it, then" Alex gave a small, friendly smile, and began
padding away. Now that he had nothing to do, the intrusive guilty
thoughts began attacking his mind like wasps. He needed to find
something to do, something to distract him. Maybe he would use the
rest of the day practicing with a dagger.
Miko sighed. "Alright, fine." She spread her wings. "Off to the
tower then." She turned her head to the other sneaks, who were
shooting curious glances at her and Silver. "Off on a quest, see ya
guys later!" She then spread her wings and followed Silver out of
the fortress, both taking full flight once outside. They began
winging toward the mountains, high in the air now.
Alex walked over to the training grounds. Lucky for him, he found a
free practice dummy, which he thought might be difficult on a nice
afternoon like this. He began using the dagger, learning the way it
worked and how he could use it. It's long cutting edge made
slashing easy, but piercing and stabbing was a little tricky, given
the way he had to hold it. He learned to get close to his attacker
when he had the shorter weapon. He wondered what Silver and Miko
were up to now. He hoped that both were okay, despite their
sometimes feisty and angry personalities (more so Miko than Silver,
but it applied to both.). Alex found that he had learned to care
for all the cats he'd met at the guild, something that would have
been impossible to do on the streets.
