Alex smiled, wincing slightly from the gash Silver had made, but
hiding the pain. "Ready! I think the town is that way," Alex
flicked his tail towards the town. "Lets go!" He began running
towards it.
Silver followed, the wooshing and thundering of her wings
signalling her presence behind Alex. Back to the town they went, on
patrol, business as usual.
“After you!” Shadow exclaimed! It was time for his second quest and
he was pumped! After watching Silver flying, He had an idea.
Pulling out his grappling hook, he launched it towards the town,
and caught it on a streetlight. Pressing the trigger, he blew past
Alex. “Wheeee” he laughed.
This is how it feels to fly!
Inside Shadow was bubbling up with joy. He felt so free! Then he
thought of his friends. Wouldn’t they want to feel this feeling
too?
He yelled, “Who wants to give it a try? Alex? Lyra?
"Eh, im fine running." Alex smiled. He wasn't lying, he loved the
feeling of the wind blowing through his fur and his paws pounding
rhythmically on the solid earth. He slowed to a trot as they
reached the town. "Let's ask the townsfolk about the wolf attack,"
Alex suggested.
"I think that's a you thing, also I don't like really high
speeds." Replied Lyra. She wasn't a big fan of high speeds, they
made her feel sick. She did want to get there faster but getting
sick would make her week and this would be the worst time for that
to happen.
Alex approached a villager. "Hi, we're from the guild, we heard
about wolf attacks nearby. Do you know anything about it?" Alex
asked.
"They've been attacking the east side of the village, you should
check it out. They attack frequently, and all together" The
villager replied calmly. Suddenly, a piercing howl cut through the
peaceful air. "That'd not a good sign," the villager says, eyes
wide. She hurried into the house.
Silver flew ahead to investigate the howling. "Time to kill some
wolf!" She called over her shoulder, whipping out her fireblade.
This wolf was going to bare witness to her unfortunate, demon side,
which she was okay with when attacking enemies.
Alex didn't hesitate. He ran over to the east side of town. Most
villagers were safely in their huts. Alex saw a wolf trying to get
into a house, and began to swipe at it.
Silver whipped out her fire blade and slashed at the wolf, knocking
it back and stunning it. She began furiously swiping at the
creature as her magic weapon recharged. There was no more hint of
her sweet personality anymore, she was now full demon, slashing
deep cuts into the wolf's fur with her demonically sharp claws,
doing it just so it hurt, to send this creature away howling. It
was even more painful as her wings held her just above the
predator's reach, allowing maximum irritation and pain for the
creature, causing Silver delight.
Alex had made the wolf attacking the house flee with his painful
claws. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw two more wolves trying
to bust into a (thankfully empty) small cafe. He sprinted over,
filled with adrenaline and began to attack the wolves.
Alex found the town particularly hard to fight in. The terrain was
flat, and the buildings couldn't be destroyed. To put it simply,
there wasn't much to use to fight with. The wolves had backed Alex
up against the cafe, and Alex felt trapped. Only one way out: Use
fire.
Lyra saw a wolf scratching at the walls of another cat's hut, she
hit it multiple times before it ran away, with multiple wounds.
Then she kept searching until she found what looked to be a younger
one. This one didn't seem to be as big, Lyra shot at it quickly
with some normal arrows, hoping it felt all the pain she tried to
give it.
Alex bared his teeth, and lunged at the wolves, engulfing his claws
with flames. He slashed and whirled, almost like a dance. His mind
was completely focused on the battle, nothing else could distract
him. Alex reckessly swiped and dodged, searning the pelts of the
wolves. One wolf had the sensibility to flee, leaving Alex with
just the other. He tried something new, leaping and biting the
wolf's flank, and sending heat to his fangs. The wolf howled in
pain, and slowly ran out of energy, collapsing on the ground.
Alex smiled in triumph. Most of the wolves had fleed and the few
that were left were delt with by the others, or beginning to run
away. Something filled Alex's nose... it smelled like wood....
burning? Alex quickly turned around to see the Cafe on fire. He
froze for a solid 10 seconds, not knowing what to do, and a flurry
of thoughts in his head. The cafe is burning Alex, and it's your
fault. What if there was someone inside? What are you going to
do? The fear and guilt engulfed him, stunning him.
Silver scared her wolf off, sending it howling after its pack, with
many wounds to remember, inflicted by her demon claws. She was
laughing intensely and uncontrollably now at the creature's pain.
The pain she inflicted. How good it felt! Her demon was howling
inside her, causing her weapon to blaze, lighting up the weak light
of the morning sun, and the shadows of the woods as the canine
fled. Her eyes were slowly gaining glowing red dots to them,
signaling the demon expression outwardly. Now it was easy to see
she was indeed a hybrid.
Seeing the last of the fleeig wolves snapped Alex's mind back to
the present. Panicking, he called to silver. "Silver! This cafe is
on fire!" He yelled, his eyes wide. His mind was still full of
guilt. This place is burning, and its your flipping fault. Why
do you have to be so reckless and impulseive Alex? He gave
himself a mental beating.
Silver's red glow slowly faded, and she went out to the town,
noticing the burning Cafe. "Alex!" She yowled her fear. She had no
magic in her arsenal for taming fires, that was Miko's thing! She
flew over the building, admittedly, her wings were getting tired
from all this exercise, and looked at a fire hydrant. "Hold on!"
Using her blade, she sliced the hydrant open, causing water to
spray into the air, she then stood stiff. Now what? How did she get
the water to the cafe?
Alex quickly grabbed a nearby plant jar, and dumped out the plant
(f in the chat for the plant). Without thinking, he filled it up
with water from the hydrant, and doused the fire. The fire was
gone, but the damage was already done. The wall was charred, and
had a small gap in it. If it wasn't for silver and the convenient
hydrant, the cafe would be reduced to ashed because of him. The
last thing he remembered before he blacke out was staring in horror
at the burned wall and realising that this was a direct cause of
himself.
Silver stared in dismay at the charred building. Maybe the Guild
could pay for this? With the increasing number of cats questing,
maybe the loot might safe the sweet old Cafe. Though, she felt she
should check on her Guildmates first. "Alex! are you okay?" She
landed beside him on the ground, wrinkling her nose at the smell of
smoke and burned wood.
Lyra was walking around town trying to look for more wolves, and
she soon realized that they were all gone. But she smelled
something else, it smelled like char, like a fire that was put out.
She followed the scent to a charred building, and it looked like
Silver and Alex were on the out side. She quickly rushed over, and
said. "What happened!?" There was a sound of alarm in her voice.
"Is everyone okay?" She quickly got a few potions, incase someone
would need them.
"Alex is unconscious. We put out the fire that started, but the
building's destroyed and Alex is out for the count." Silver
explained rapidly, trying not to look at the enormous hole in the
cafe. "Tell me the wolves are gone, please!" She really didn't want
to risk them getting close to Alex while he was defenseless
