Siegfried facepalmed:
"I mean, yeah, that fake Ashburn did say that, but for all we knew he could have been trying to drive Nell insane by showing her some unspeakable horror. Wait, what do you mean Hans and Franz know?!"
Hans sighed:
"We apologize for our deception and for any annoyances caused by us, but if we gave any clues that we're smarter than we look, Destral could have suspected us of knowing what was being prepared for him."

Owin stayed quiet as he stood next to his sister. Vestige was sitting beside him.
Yggdrasil and Vail sat near the back of the group, neither one speaking.
Storm was standing near Yggdrasil and Vail with Kiro at her side. She was listening carefully to make sure that she didn't miss any details of the conversation.

Baron Ashburn was beheaded 20 years ago for his treason against the former king, King Arthur's father, King Uther Pendragon. Almost everyone knew this, but Destral had no clue about it. That's why we all put up a little plot to place someone trustworthy higher in command than Destral. The fat short man that attacked you and pretended to be the Baron was actually Quince, the bank teller. As for the young Ashburn, the one that took the youth potion, that was actually the old retired knight Scriptus. Don't make that smug face, his "death" was merely a setback for him. Did you forget that Scriptus's companion was Temporus, the literal warden of time?"
