Lise nodded. She looked to Troye. “You go with Rose, I’ll go to my
house to see what I can find.” She said. He sighed. “Whatever you
say, Mom.” He said. She glared at him.
Lise nodded. “Alright. Jace, Rose and Troye will go to Rose’s
house. James and I will go to my house. Sari, would you like to
come with James and I or go with the others?” She asked.
Lise smiled. “Alright, follow me everyone. My house is about a
three minute walk from here.” She said, making sure evwryone was
with her before she started off.
Troye smiled. “I’m ready.” He said. Lise smiled a bit before
turning around and leading the group to her house. She fumbled
through her bag to find the key to her front door.
When the group reached Rose's house she went straight to the
basement and grabbed a few bows and arrows. "Either of you know how
to use one of these?" She gave a small sigh when Jace shook his
head no, but nodded to herself. "It's not too hard, but I don't
have time to teach you" she said as she looked at Troye.
James and Sari looked around. "Anything you will need help
gathering" James asked.
Troye looked at the bow. “I haven’t used one in a while, but I
might be able to with a little practice.” He said. Lise thought for
a moment before saying, “James, you and Sari can check the attic
for some weapons my dad might have lying around, and he has a load
of camping equipment we might need later. I’ll check the kitchen
for food and first aid supplies.”
James nodded and motioned to Sari to follow. They gathered quite a
bit when it came to the tents and other camping items.
Rose looked at Troye. "Well, at least it's one less person I have
to teach." She smiled when she saw her German Shepherd run up to
her. "Bear! You aren't frozen! This is great news. We can use the
the horses then to ride" she said.
James nodded as Sari looked at Lise. "I almost cant believe we are
doing this" she said. "Are we crazy?"
Rose looked out to the barn. "Hopefully you all know mostly how to
ride horses" she said as she motioned for Jace and Troye to follow
her out to the barn.
Rose shook her head. "If you keep calm, they are calm. And knowing
that, I know just who you are going to ride" she said. "The horse I
am putting you on is Carri. She will follow whoever is leading so
you wont have to do much, just sit really."
Jace looked at Rose. "I rode once or twice at a camp, and it was
kinda fun" he said.
James followed behind as Sari paced Lise. "At least we ended up not
all being alone with this going on."
Lise nodded. “I can’t help but think all of this happened for a
reason though.” She said. Troye went up to the horse and looked at
it for a moment. “So I can just... get on?” He asked. He wasn’t
really afraid of much, but his brother broke his arm riding a horse
once and after that he had always been a little shaky around them.
Rose looked at Troye. "Help me brush them down real quick, I will
tack them up then we can ride" she said. She saw Carri stretch her
neck out to sniff Troye. The bay mare was a gentle one and often
was placed with foals after they were weaned.
Sari nodded. "I hope that its not a scary reason" she replied as
they neared Rose's barn.
“Alright then.” Troye said. He was still a little nervous, but not
as much as before. When they reached the barn, Lise knocked on the
door to alert the people inside that they were there.
Rose looked over to the barn door and smiled. "Perfect timing. We
are just giving a quick brush to the horses before I tack them up.
Lise, James, Sari, have any of you ridden before?"
James nodded. "My mother took me riding a lot as a kid."
“I went to horse camp every summer for a few years. I think I’ll
still be able to ride a horse.” Lise said. Troye chuckled. “I
remember that. Hey, do tou remember that one time you came home
crying because-“ “Shut up.” Lise said, glaring at him.
