Before Quinn can answer, Chen does for her. "Usually, demons are
pretty mean. But Candy says I'm not 'cause I'm special." He smiled
again, looking down at the cards in his hands. "I don't feel
special, though. I mean, if everyone's unique, then no one's really
special, right? Because everyone's special, which makes it normal."
He paused, shrugged to himself, and placed down a yellow seven.
"Uno."
"Chen doesn't live with us, he just hangs out sometimes," Quinn
said. "And, trust me, you'll see much odder things roaming the
halls than a five foot demon prince with the mental age of either
five or fifty. So it's best to get used to it now." She patted his
hair once more, fondly. Obviously, she cared about him a lot.
(Everyone went upstairs to a living room/kitchen area where Mirror,
Elin, and Chen - a demon-like creature - are all playing Uno. There
were a few extra introductions and stuff. Nothing super important
or big.)
"Sure," Mirror replied, as Elin cursed under his breath. "Although
it may be a bit. Uno tends to have varying gameplay lengths. I'm
Mirror, by the way. It's nice to meet you." He smiled, a bright,
genuine smile. Then, he glanced at Elin, who pretended to be
incredibly focused on his cards. Mirror's gaze narrowed, smile
fading, and he went from sweet to slightly menacing in a few
seconds. "Elin Kau Tsuji."
"Alright, alright. I'm Elin." His voice was barely loud enough to
be heard, but not too soft that someone would have to ask for him
to repeat it. He liked to think of it as a sort of perfectly
crafted art form.
(Sure. Also thanks @greg I'm too awkward to do it myself.)
"Candytuft and Sydney are coming to pick up Chen around eight, by
the way," Felix said as he tapped his fingers on the table. He was
leaning over Elin's shoulder, looking at his cards and occasionally
taking bites of his salad. "Also, apparently they're having another
discussion tomorrow that we should probably go to. I don't trust
Candy to keep from punching someone. Again."
"Sounds like something to talk about in the morning." Quinn pulled
out a chair on the other side of Elin, stealing a piece of lettuce
from Felix's bowl. She talked through a mouth full of food. "So,
while we have the time. Any questions we haven't answered yet,
newbies?"
Charlie followed up to the group too, being alone isn't recommend in
a place like this.So they joined the other but kept quiet and took
a sit. They really wanted to ask what was going on,unlike the others
they weren't informed on caught up with anything that was going
on,but their anxiety got the best of them, settling on they staying
quiet once again.
"Just playing Uno." Quinn smiled at Katie. Felix started to open
his mouth, probably with some sarcastic remark, but she flicked him
and his jaw snapped closed. "Charlie. Your aura says curious but
nervous. What's on your mind, kid?"
"eeh" Charlie WOKE from their state of confusion "Ye I do actually
I was slightly late on what was going on so I didn't really know
what's going on"They said, their voice being quiet and not very
confident,as if they were scared
Amanda was quietly listening in to everyone's conversations. She
had blinked in shock at Chen before lightly smiling. Yep. If
mother was here she would be screeching by now. I sort of want her
around actually...then again I don't think that would be wise due
to her love of throwing objects. She thought to herself before
looking around the room and memorizing it. Homey, nice. I wonder
what subjects are in the books?
"That's alright. White Rose probably explained most of it to you.
Flower soul and all that. But I can give you any specifics you
need." Quinn smiled at Charlie and attempted to snatch some more
lettuce from Felix. He batted her hand away. They both paused when
Elin murmured something under his breath. "What?" Quinn asked,
leaning closer slightly.
"Amanda was wondering what genre my books are. Psychology and
biology. I think there's also a biography of one of my favorite
musicians in there, too," he repeated, loud enough to be heard this
time. "Back to you, Chennie," he added, putting down a yellow
reverse.
