Kona smiled towards Rose with an agreeing nod. ''We should probably
get back unless you wish to stay here Rose? I don't know how your
home is set up and don't really want you to spent the night with
your mother glaring at you. I know I have, but I would hate for her
to yell at you again.'' She nodded.
Ratholas spotted Zeek go down the mountain and glances towards the
young dragons that didn't care about him. He didn't like when
Kanguard and Sarkany were together as they seemly disregarded
everyone else. Yet he preferred the young dragon stayed with
Kalores after the accusation placed upon him. He hoped Zeek was
alright.
Stryke was ignoring his wife or to say, she was ignoring him. He
tried to speak to her, but she refused wanting nothing to do with
him. She was furious at her daughter.
Rose nodded. "And I should probably try talking to my father as
well. And hopefully this time without my mother interrupting us"
she replied. "Let me know if either of you need anything" she said
to Kona and Kovu before she headed out.
Zeek stumbled on his way down, not able to fly any longer. His
wings were torn from all the years of the battles.
Kona watches Rose go, bowing her head as did Kovu. The cousins
looked over at each other before they decided to go back after
cleaning up the hut even more.
Sarkany and Kanguard were joyfully trying to find an outlook that
would over see the village. ''You and I should steal a sheep one
day.'' She smiled. ''I would love to hug a sheep.''
Kanguard muttered with a sigh. ''Humans could kill us for that.''
He sighed.
Stryke gave up and just focused on helping people prepare for a
possible dragon attack.
Sarkany nudged him before climbing higher. ''Sapphire is the oldest
of all the dragons here and she is not dead.'' She said
proudly.
Kanguard titled his head before shaking his head. ''Your statement
doesn't make any sense...Zeek is the oldest and he can't fly
anymore. He shows us we shouldn't fight with the humans...plus
before we were hatched, there was a big fight that killed a lot of
dragons. I am pretty sure it was between us and the humans. My
father spoke a little bit about it, but he said we shouldn't talk
about it.''
Roda knew it was her daughter in the house due to the sound of the
steps. She grew accustom to figuring out who was entering the house
in her family. after all her time in her room. ''Rose.'' She stated
angrily, opening up her door and not looking directly at her. ''You
are grounded and I forbid you from leaving the village. You break
my rules, I will have you locked up for disobeying my orders.''
Kona sighed. ''Do you like Rose?" She asked. ''I think you two
would make great leaders. Many of the others...I do not think they
would be worthy or kind to Rose.''
Kovu's face turned red before he looked down. ''I am a mere farmer
and would not make a good leader. She needs someone that respects
her and the village. Someone that is actually educated far more
than I am.''
Rose rolled her eyes. "And what if I need to gather items for our
new Healer" she asked. "There are things I need to do that nobody
else can when they are busy with their other work."
Kona nodded a bit. ''I guess that is true, but it would be nice if
you two were together. Our whole family could persuade her mother
that you are the best fit. At least kindness wise. We would all
know that you had no evil intentions or anything like that.''
Kovu kept his eyes down, shaking his head. ''Once we gain
friendship with a dragon, it is all over. She will find someone way
better than me. I never had my hopes up to be really close to her.
I know my place.''
Sarkany looked at Kanguard with a glare. ''Why can't we talk about
it? We know nothing of it unless they tell us. I want to know!"
Kanguard shook his head. ''I can't say anything! I really don't
know myself...I tried to talk to Ratholas but he just ignores my
questions. I would never bother Sapphire or anyone else about the
past battles.''
Roda narrowed her eyes at Rose for back talking her. ''New Healer?
When did we have a new healer?" She shook her head. ''Your father
or I didn't appoint one, nor did anyone ask to be one. Do not make
things up just to spite me!" She said angrily.
Rose narrowed her eyes. "Kona is our new Healer. I spoke with her
today and she told me she wished to be one. We need a healer so I
have her the old healer hut, and she was very grateful."
Roda kept her eyes narrowed at her daughter for going behind her
back and making a decision herself. ''Oh and you think a random
child would make a good healer. You know you do not make the right
choices, as you obviously cannot make the right decision with a
husband.'' She turned away from her, walking back towards her room.
''She won't be in that hut tomorrow and you will not be helping
her. The healer has to be someone trusted and not one of your
friends. Even if you have friends of the correct choice.'' She
muttered. ''You have too much to learn.''
Rose shook her head. "Well maybe I don't trust YOU to choose the
next healer or my husband! For all you know its someone who wants
me dead! Ever once think of someone else's feeling other than your
own MOTHER, or should I even bother to continue calling you that?"
Roda looked at Rose, furious with her. ''You have no respect for me
or anyone else in this village. I wish your brother survived and we
wouldn't have had this problem or be having this problem. I do what
is right for you and it sickens me that you don't see it.'' She
slammed her door as she couldn't say anything to Rose at all. Hurt
she would even assume that she didn't think about her.
Kona nodded a bit towards Kovu. ''The same...though maybe if she
breaks away from her mother she will be allowed to be with whoever
she wants. I didn't think she would even speak to me, because I was
the tailor's daughter. The same to you being the farmer's son.''
She glances out the door before moving to stand by it. ''I hope you
two will be able to help the dragons become friends with us. It
will change everything.''
Rose stormed off to her room and slammed the door. "I knew she
didn't care" she mumbled to herself. "Wanting my brother alive
rather than me? I was the stronger one to survive."
Kovu finished dusting off a chair and moving boards off the small
windows. ''So do I. It would be amazing if we were able to become
friends with dragons.'' He said quietly, setting down the boards
before walking to her. ''It truly would be amazing and we wouldn't
have to fight. She would be at peace and a wonderful leader.''
Kona smiled towards Kovu. ''She would be a great leader. She
deserves it after taming dragons!"
Roda rolled her eyes hearing Rose's door slam and resumed her
recluse ways.
Stryke was near to the home and hear the yelling of course. He
glances at the family that he was helping with their weapons. ''I
am sorry, let's finish up here.''
Rose sighed and started to write a letter to her father in the
secret language she and him had together. She explained about how
she let Kona be the Healer as she deserved it and wouldn't allow
her mother to kick Kona out. She added in about what had been said
and that she needed to be able to leave to help gather needed items
for their new healer.
Kona and Kovu then began back to the village, not wanting to be
away for too long. Kovu had a job to do in the fields while Kona
couldn't be away from her parents for too long.
The father that was Stryke was helping, looked at him. ''She seems
rather on edge lately.'' He sighed.
Stryke glances at him before nodding. ''We lost one of our last
children this month. I think she is just reliving it again.'' He
said quietly. ''Her emotions are always heighten whenever it comes
to the month of one of the birthdays...that she wished we were
celebrating.'' He finished up fixing the ropes, trying them tight
back. ''I am just glad she went outside today.'' He sighed before
he left them.
Rose sighed as she left the letter on the table, knowing her mother
wouldn't be able to understand it if she read it. She went back to
her room and looked out the window, hoping that things would get
better in the morning.
Cyrus smiled seeing Zeek in the lake. The human knew the dragon was
old, as the two had fought before. He moved quietly and killed Zeek
without the dragon knowing the human was there.
Stryke returned with a small sigh, glancing around in the small
home for either of them. He sat by himself at the table, seeing
Rose's letter and panicked a bit. He read the letter sighing to
know that she wrote it in their own little language. He knew Roda
caused problems enough where she had to resort to writing in their
language. He was happy to hear about Kona was their Healer and
trusted her if Rose did. However he was worried about Rose leaving
the village with the threat of dragons around. To him, dragons only
caused pain for them. He decided he would stay at the table to
avoid speaking to Roda.
Rose sat on her bed, worried about what would happen if she
couldn't make friends with the dragons.
Cyrus took what he could off of Zeek and headed to the village. He
planned to have Hunter bring everything to Roda, but once again,
him and his son got into a fight. Finally Cyrus had the idea to
marry Rose himself.
Stryke decided that he would write back to Rose, not wanting Roda
to know how he felt about the situation with the Healer. He wrote
in their language telling Rose that he enjoyed the idea of having a
Healer finally and supported her decision completely. He didn't
speak about leaving the village as he wished to discuss it in
person. He placed the note under her door before he took up his
chair in the living space.
Rose looked over when she heard something slid under her door. She
walked over and saw the note. At first she thought it was from her
mother, but smiled to read that it was actually from her father
about Kona. *I knew he would like the idea* she thought. *Take that
mother.* She set the note down as she sat back on the bed and
hummed. She then wrote back to her father, glad he was alright with
the new healer and that she would help Kona organize the hut the
following day.
