Roda had heard Stryke walk by and finally emerged from the room to
talk to him about Rose. She was going to make sure he was on her
side before he could be on Rose's. Without her realization, he was
already informed and couldn't changed his thought on Kona.
Kona went to bed early as she wasn't hungry just thinking about how
her parents will feel about her new position.
Kovu had to go back to work in the field till it was too dark for
him to be out.
Stryke and Roda were speaking nearly all night on the issue,
getting nowhere. Roda became furious with Stryke for allowing Rose
to have Kona as the Healer. Which only worsened the situation
between them. They went to bed at separate times, but Stryke stayed
in the living space.
Kovu was again up early to work till Rose would show up. He
couldn't tell his family about Kona and or the idea with the
dragons.
Rose woke up when the sunlight hit her face. She woke up with a
jolt as she looked around. She gabbed the note that was the reply
to her father and placed it on the table before she headed out for
the day. She smiled as she headed to the Healer hut to see if Kona
was there.
Kona has the same problem with her parents and woke up earlier than
them. Once the place was set up, she planned to stay there and get
away from her parents. She hurried to the hut, waving to her cousin
before she was off. Just behind Rose as she got a late start.
Kanguard woke up beside Sarkany, feeling bad that they ignored
Zeek. He moved away from Kalores and Draig to see if he could at
least help Zeek somehow.
Kona walked up after Rose arrived and smiled seeing her. “Morning,
you got here before I did. Everything okay?” She asked, happily
entering to begin working again.
Rose smiled and nodded. "My mother wasn't pleased about you
becoming a healer, but I spoke with my father and he said he was
happy to have one again. You will be safe to keep being a healer."
Kona smiles excitedly at Rose, grabbing her hands happily.”Thank
you.” She squeezed Rose’s hands before bowing her head.”Thank you.
Really, thank you.” She began to work on the second small window.
“I really thank you for this, Rose. I could have never imagined
this day without you. To imagine my dream job actually being
possible. Really, thank you.” She smiled. “I owe you everything.”
Rose shook her head. "You don't owe me anything. We needed a healer
for so ling, I'm just glad we managed to get lucky and get one.
Hopefully you wont be too busy healing the sick this year, or
injured" she replied. "We don't need your first year as a healer to
drive you crazy."
Kona laughed happily and nodded a bit.”I am already crazy for
wanting to be a healer in my family. Living up to the expectations
is all I ask. Though what I am doing is not as crazy as what you
have in store. I have to say, going after dragons is enough to
drive anyone out of this village. I know the thought is crazy
enough.” She smiled. “We both are doing what are hearts wish and I
am glad. We both can change this village. Oh and Kovu. He is
excited to help you all he can. I know our family had been ravaged
by dragons in the past and being able to put that behind all of us
for peace... why I think you would be the best tribe leader this
village has ever seen!” She exclaimed.
Kona shook her head to believe that her mother disapproved of Rose
so much. ''I am glad that your father trusts you, but am sad that
your mother is so disrespectful to you. She will see how amazing
you are when you get that first dragon here in peace. She will be
so distraught.''' She smiled towards Rose. ''She will be so
confused.'' She laughed before losing her smile. ''Did she try to
talk to you last night? I know about me, but anything else?" She
asked.
Kona glared at Rose, shaking her head.”That is terrible. I can’t
believe she would lock up her only daughter. If she did, fake being
sick and I would break you out.” She smiled softly. “She is crazy
and I am sorry you had to deal with that last night.”
Stryke woke up, nearly missing his morning walk. He looked at the
letter and read it with a little smile. He was glad that she was
helping Kona, not really thinking about the dragons.
Roda of course got up to see if Rose was still in the home. She was
beyond furious to see that she ignored her ruling.”Stryke! Did you
see Rose? Did she leave? I told you to not allow her to leave!”
Rose shrugged. "She would rather my brother have not died, so I'm
sure she doesn't care at all about how I feel" she replied. "As
long as my father is fine with this, she can't do anything to me."
Kona looked down, her parents never spoke to her that way. ''I am
sorry to hear that....did you mention the dragons to your father? I
am sure he would allow you to go on since he is seemly on your
side. I am glad that someone else is...he is a nice man.''
Rose shook her head. "I know he wouldn't want me to go after them
so I didn't tell him. You and Kovu are the only two I told and
trust to tell right now" she replied.
Kona smiled softly to know that she was trusted. “Kovu is rather
happy you are allowing him to join. He had admired you forever.”
She smiled happily. “He is loyal to a fault.” She began to dust now
again with a smile. “I do hope your father comes to the reality
that what you are doing will help us completely.” She glances at
Rose. “Actually, I just want to show up your mother. She is so
terribly rude. Was she like this to you as you grew up?”
Rose sighed. "She wasn't always like this, but after losing all the
rest of my siblings, I may as well have been dead to her. I don't
know why she is so rude to everyone when its not anyones fault this
happened."
