Kovu didn't get too close to Rose and gave her some space. ''I
mean, I don't blame her when it comes to the dragons. I don't trust
them and I am already worrying about you looking for them at any
time. I don't want you hurt over your own curiosity. It does scare
me that they will kill you.'' He then smiled a bit. ''We need our
leader alive so she can pick the tribe leader.'' His smile then
disappeared. ''Though I also agree that she doesn't trust that you
will make the right decision and or...understand you at all.'' He
nodded. ''It is like you are not even her daughter. She acted like
you were someone else's kid being troublesome.'' He sighed.
Rose nodded. "Especially when I didn't go looking for them today.
All I wanted was to ride into the trees. Nothing more. I just don't
understand what her issue is with me."
Kovu looked down at the floor with a small nod. ''Has she acted
like this forever? I can't imagine your father would marry someone
like that. He is the complete opposite! He likes people, always
friendly and always lends a hand whenever someone asks. While she
just stays away and yells at you for everything.'' He then looked
back at her with a smile. ''I have an idea! Since you are curious
about dragons, what if we're able to at least communicate with one.
Have it on our side and show people that you are not insane. Tough
task, but maybe one dragon doesn't like the taste of humans and
will be open with you. I can imagine they're just as curious about
us as them. A baby dragon even. I would feel more comfortable with
a baby dragon...I bet they only can nibble and not really bite.''
He smiled.
Rose smiled. "She started acting like this after my siblings died
at a young age, but at act like all her kids are dead is just
wrong. And you might be onto something. What about that blue dragon
that sniffed the bush I was hiding in."
Kovu agreed with Rose.”For sure...You would think she would care
about you for the sake you were her only child. But, it seems she
doesn’t think that way.” He then sighed giving Rose this
idea.”Right, that blue dragon is rather interesting. Though do you
truly think it knew you were there?”
Kovu crosses his arms to think that the dragon ignored her on
purpose. “That is beyond strange...” He glances up at the shires.
“Should we bait for that one?” He asked. “Maybe it didn’t kill you
because it is curious too?”
Rose smiled at the thought. "It could have been, and that would be
amazing if it was interested as well. That would mean we can gain
it's trust quicker, and if we can, it would prove to my mother that
I'm not useless" she replied.
Kovu shook his head at Rose. ''You are never useless, never.'' He
nodded. ''But I shall help you in any way to get this dragon on our
side, if you believe it is possible.'' He smiled weakly. ''Still
not sure what I think about the dragons becoming our friends...it
has never happened before. Though I guess there is a first for
everything.''
Rose nodded. "Just think, if we can get them on our side, we would
be the most powerful tribe around. No tribes would dare to attack
us, and we could fly" she replied. "I just wouldn't want a power
hungry husband at my side to attack other tribes."
Kovu smiled towards Rose at the thought of being such a powerful
tribe. ''That would be wonderful if we are not the target of any
raids due to the dragons.'' He smiled before sighing. ''That will
be a hard part to find someone who doesn't want to rule
aggressively with or without dragons.'' He nodded. ''I don't think
your parents understand that...why would they feel they know the
man more than you? He could act differently between you and
them...''
Rose nodded. "Exactly. That's why I have been watching the tribe
carefully ever since I turned ten. I needed to see who I could
trust and who I couldn't knowing it would be expected of me to rule
the tribe and marry to have children of my own." She put her
stallion away as she sighed. "Its probably why I keep to myself
most of the time as well. I have learned who I can and cant trust
to help me."
Kovu watches Rose go, nodding his head as he listened. He knew his
cousin was part of the problem as he was running with those that
believe they're the best and almost better than Rose. ''I don't
blame you at all. That is a lot to take on. If we can stop the
death of any dragon, then you are free to be yourself.'' He smiled
again. ''You will see those who would only want to rule and those
who are willing to help you. I wish to enlist Kona to help you. She
keeps to herself too, but because she wants to be the healer and
her parents hate that idea. She can take over your stable cleaning
while we go off hunting for that blue dragon. That way, you don't
have to return home to a filthy stable and your parents can't yell
at you for that! Unless, of course they find out...which she can
help. She has this herb that if crushed up and blown into someone's
face can make them forget what they were doing.'' He smiled. ''Your
father or mother won't remember what they wished to ask if they
found her in the stable. They will simply go about their day not
remembering a thing that pertained to their recent thoughts. Can
work for a little bit, so it will give us some time.'' He smiled
towards her. ''I can also watch the village while you are out...see
who are helping with the weapons and see who refuse. Those who
refuse could help us.'' He smiled.
Rose nodded. "Kovu that's a great idea! And if Kona wants to be a
healer, nothing is stopping her. There is an empty hut she can use
that belonged to the old healer. I'm sure there are still some
herbs. As for others, I think just us three would be best for now
until we know the dragon is on our side."
Kovu smiled towards Rose. ''That will be wonderful news to her!
Thank you.'' He then nodded. ''No problem with that, just saves us
from having to deal with others.'' He smiled. ''Okay! Then it is
all set! Though...how are we going to encounter that dragon do you
think? Hang around yaks or something? I can't say I ever tracked a
dragon or tried. I don't know much about them besides the fact they
can breath fire. I am pretty sure they can breath fire.''
Rose looked at Kovu. "We will leave early in the morning. The blue
one was breathing ice rather than fire" she said. "I do think if we
look in the forest again and just wait, we should be alright."
Kovu slowly nodded his head, he was rather intrigued to think that
dragons may breath more than just fire. ''Amazing.'' He said
quietly before smiling a bit. ''How do you think we should approach
the dragon?" He asked quietly. ''Or let it approach us?"
Kovu laughed quietly.”Except Yaks are more likely not to eat you or
cover you with fire or ice!” He smiled. “I may prefer talking to
yaks over dragons, but who knows. Do you think they will understand
us or we will understand them?” He asked.”I wonder if they speak
our language.”
Rose smiled. "It would be interesting if they did understand us and
we understood them, but we wont know until tomorrow. I just hope we
don't run into mean dragons."
