The Age of Solitude
Forum-Index → Roleplay → The Age of SolitudeAs a way to keep each one responsible, Maotelus assigned each of the Lords a true name, only they and he knew. Using their true name, Maotelus could be able to restrain them. However, Maotelus knew that if anyone else knew them, the four lords could be used as there pawns, so he kept every true name a secret.
Soon, the Seraphim created offspring, each with their own true name, letting them wander in Glenwood a land that had prospered through human efforts. Although the humans could not see, hear nor touch them, but they felt the Seraphim's presence with them. One by one, Seraphim began to settle down in cities, and were worshiped like gods by humans, hoping to have their wishes granted by these holy beings, and the Seraphim did, granted as long as they were pleased. This was the Age of Co-Existence. During this marvelous age, new types of Seraphim began to appear when different Seraphim began to intermix. From Wind and Water came the Lightning Seraphim, Fire and Water created the Ice Seraphim, Water and Earth created the Nature Seraphim, and there were rare occasions of half-seraphim. With the discovery of a special power, Armatization, Humans with a high enough resonance to be able to see Seraphim were able to fuse with them, gaining new powers.
However, humans began to doubt the existence of the Seraphim and began to stop worshiping them as a whole. Things began to turn for the worse. Malevolence crated from the Seraphim's grudges against the humans led them to for communities with their own type, shunning others. Half-Seraphem became the sewer dogs, shunned by both humanity as well as their Celestial brethren.
This was the start of the Age of Solitude.
With the Malevolence however, came the Quallows, bearing the same elements as seraphim. Negative emotions from every corner of Glenwood transformed those consumed with such emotions, turning them into malicious beings, destroying everything in its path and sowing more malevolence.
Maotelus saw the despair of many seraphim and humans unwillingly dragged into this chaotic age. Taking pity on them, Maotelus gathered a small group of seraphim of different elements, including humans able to communicate with the seraphim as well as Half-Seraphim, to end the Age of Solitude. You have been chosen by the most powerful Seraphim in existence.

This is where your True name comes into play. In order for Armatization to occur; both the Human and the seraph must know each other's true names. However, when the human wishes to enact Armatization, only the human is required to call his/her partner's true name. Armatization changes the user’s appearance, physical strength and bestows a certain element to the user, enabling them to fight Quallows. Armatization does not vary from seraph to seraph, but from element to element. Currently, only Fire, Wind, Earth and Water seraph are known to have the power of Armatization with other humans. Half-Seraphim can be used as both the host and the power source. So far the known appearances are as follows:
Earth: Can summon stone fists and summon stone pillars and rock projectiles, and use Earth-based magic
Water: Can shoot water arrows using a bow and used water-based magic
Fire: Can wield a large sword and use fire-based magic
Wind: Can gain blade-like wings and summon whirlwinds and mini tornadoes in addition to wind-based magic

History : It was nearly impossible for Ryu to be born as a Half-seraph, because even though her mother was human, her family was primarily seraphim, and her father was a pure seraph through and through. Born in the beginning stages of the Age of Solitude, her whole family was separated, due to their diverse elemental and race combination. Taken in by the merchant guild known as the Silver Feathers, Ryu worked without a clue that the merchants were also assassins. One day when the guild was attacked by a Quallow, Ryu showed extraordinary skills by fatally wounding the quallow. From then on, Ryu also started training to become an assassin of the Bloodborn, becoming one of their best members, due to her stealth, and wide vocal range, masking her identity well.
Personality : Because of her background work as an assassin, Ryu tends to be more secluded and secretive. While taking on an assassin job, she is serious and likes to get the job done quickly, while when she’s a merchant, she is more open and talkative. She can be persuasive if she wants to.

History:
Draco was born from a lightning seraphim and afire seraphim near the end of the Age of Co-Existence. However; during the end of the Age of Co-Existence, he was left alone. Forgotten by his parents, Draco started co-existing with the humans. Draco gave himself a human appearance and hasn't shown his true Seraphim form for nearly a decade. Draco became a Blacksmith due to his natural abilities with fire. Draco also had an interest in human weaponry, specifically blades.
Draco, however; had trained himself in many forms of combat and self-defense. He learned how to properly weird a sword and how to use a bow. Draco also taught himself martial arts and eventually created a unique fighting style for himself that he called "The Dance of Fire and Lightning". Because Draco was a blacksmith, many times have people attempted to rob his weaponry that he showcases. But because Draco has trained himself in numerous forms of combat and self-defense, he fended them off. Draco soon was accepted into a Blacksmith Guild known as the Phoenix Vulcans.
The blacksmiths were also expert user's in combat and self defense, a skill that comes in handy when you specialize in making weapons. Draco was the youngest of all of them and was soon taught new and unique techniques that he never knew existed and belonged only to certain members of the Phoenix Vulcans. Draco then created a new combat style for himself, this time only for self-defense. He classified "The Dance of Fire and Lightning" as a offensive combat style, and the new "Soul of Striking Flames" was a self-defense combat style.
Late at night, Draco was catching up on training that he had missed since he was busy with request at his blacksmith. He suddenly was attacked by a small group of 2 or 3 Quallows. Draco believed they were formed by the hatred and jealousy of blacksmiths who despised him. Draco was able to defeat them but Draco had never forged a weapon for himself and fought back with only his fists and feet. Draco was not able to defeat them, but he was able to hold them off until they left as they were out of steam. Realizing that his body wasn't going to be enough, he forged himself a sword made out of the finest Black Steel he owned and embedded a gem into it.
Personality :
Draco does not talk very much. He is quite blunt, timid, thick, and dense. He always seems to be bored and often is explained as emotionless due to the way his face looks all the time. That is not, however; true whatsoever. If you get to know Draco or you hang out with him a lot, you realize he likes to tease people a lot. He still doesn't talk very much but he shows emotions more often.

Draco is assumed to be human, but he is only in his human appearance. Draco's flames and lightning are blue, oddly enough. Draco does not know why, nor does he know how that is possible. He tends to just accept he is a unique seraphim or that he is just messed up or possibly even cursed.

History : Amelia can sense and see seraphs since a young child, raised by a seraph monk on a hidden temple in the mountains. She was really spoiled by him and she couldn't leave the temple territory, always doing the same things everyday, she grew acostumed to rutine. On her 15th birthday, she got a black silver magic bow made by ice seraphs. Even when she couldn't summon the ice magic on her bow, she started to practice with it, gaining aim and experience enough to hunt small animals on the temple territory. Until last year. On the first day of spring, her caretaker succumbed to the malevolence and she had to flee to avoid any harm. She knows really little about the inferior world, but Amelia is ready to search far and wide for way to save her seraph friend.

Owch, I've actually expent 15 minutes thinking and translating a name into Zestiria's ancient language just to read the rules and see that it wasn't necessary... RIP me XD

Draco was in his smithy and was about to sand the edges of his sword. Draco filled a bucket full of water and a grabbed a large stone from the back. He set the stone on the ground and poured a few handfuls of water over the top of it. Draco put his hand on the rock and and started rubbing the water into the rock till his hands got dirty. Draco put another handful of water on the stone and cleaned his hand. Draco grabbed his sword and started rubbing the edge of the blade against the stone in a back and forth motion.
(Actually, the small village is the town on which Ryu and Draco are, it's just that the map is totally un-updated and has like 200 years)

After flattening out the bar of metal, Draco reheated the metal and started pounding it with the hammer to extend the blade. Draco then started forging out the tang so that a handle could go over it. Draco then grabbed a large sheet of sand paper and put it on a wheel. Draco lit the small hole that was beneath the wheel. The wheel started rapidly spinning and Draco started sharping the sword against the wheel.
Amelia tried to picture how the real shape of the temple was. It was probably a rectangle shaped structure and had these tear shaped archs she loved, just like her temple on the mountains, miles away.
It was kinda smaller than her temple, and didn't had that holy aura on it... probably because the fire, but it was something more that she noted, this temple was made by humans, not by seraphs, like the one back home.
Like it was a smaller copy of her temple. She couldn't help it, but suddenly she felt homesick, every burned column, every scorched bench, every crystal on the floor, it was just like her former home, everything...

A faint glimpse of light catched her gaze, something was under the altar, knowing that her hand couldn't grab it, she used her bow as extension of her arm.
It was a book, and old moldy book, it smelled like rotten... was the cover made of human skin? She suddenly felt nauseous of the simple thought.
Some of the pages were totally un-readable, a few of them had dark splotches (maybe blood) and like ten or fifteen ended as rat food.
Even with the bad smell and the creepy appearance, Amelia packed it on her pouch, next to her old rag map.
"Guess it's time to check the village", she spoke to herself for the first time on weeks, her own voice sounding totally foreigner to her ears.
