Sometimes, I see people who have avatars that have flashing words or parts on them, and I was wondering if we could have a rule against having flashing avatars. Why? Because, not only do they usually hurt people's eyes (or at least, they hurt mine), but for people with epilepsy, they could potentially cause them to have a seizure. I don't think it's safe to have an avatar that can possibly hurt someone. Also, this is my first suggestion, so sorry if it isn't explained very well.

I totally agree with this ^^ Those things are a health hazard and could potentially put someone in the hospital. Although we are just talking about those that flash bright colors and not the small glittery ones right? :) I don't think those could cause any damage :3

Are you talking about animated avatars or just ones with quick flashing colors because I think it would be hard to impliment banning of gif avatars that have flashing colors and words without banning animated avatars all together.

It obviously wouldn't be an automated system- it'd be something like a rule, which would require users to use non-flashing avatars.

i think he simply talk about those avatar with a text in different colors like those special avatar this person made in his art shop. :)

I don't think there is a huge problem about that... s: it's just a bit flashy but nothing much s:

@NoctisLucisCaelum, yes to us, it is just a bit of an annoyance. But to someone with epilepsy it could cause seizures like SansTheSkelememe said ^^ Shouldn't we make the game fair so that everyone can play without the fear of getting hurt?

I know this was suggested a year or two ago, when a user had an art shop to make avatars that were all overly flashing rainbow patterns in a fast pace...

I don't know what happened to it, and am not digging through for it at the moment, but I know it exists somewhere already.

My opinion on this is that if there's an issue, just contact the person using the avatar and explain that it is a health hazard to some people. I used to have a friend that was okay with most animations online, but there were a few that would trigger her seizures. So the flickering white from the interactions page wouldn't trigger it because it's only once every so often, but a spinning animation going fast with a range of flickering colors behind it would be a real threat to her life.

And, in my experience, most people will change their avatars if they know that it's a risk to other people.
But adding it into the rules (Maybe "Be mindful about animation speeds") would make it to where if someone disregards the issue, then the mods would be able to step in.

agree, there could be a check box saying "does this avatar contain flashing lights"
and in settings it should have a "are you prone to seizures"

I like ancoolcat's suggestion, however I feel some people wouldn't understand it
He's suggesting that there is a way of you saying (when you upload your avatar) whether it contains flashing images. In your personal settings you can have a filter that blocks avatars with flashing lights.

Yeah, I'm talking about avatars with colors that flash really quickly, and maybe if someone had one, they could be contacted about it and asked to remove it. And yeah, I kinda like Ancoolcat's suggestion.
(Also, sorry for not posting on this, I've been kinda busy)
