Allium's face flushed the color of her hair and she laughed
nervously, "T-that's jumping to conclusions a lil' bit, don't you
think?"
Wisty gasped and clasped her hands together, excitedly bouncing and
sticking her hand out to Allium. "Oh, goodness, hello! I'm Wisteria
Glasglow--you can call me just about anything you'd like
though--although Crystal probably already told you that, didn't
she?" Her accent had become more prominent in her excitement. "Oh,
I'm also a light halfling. What about you?"
Allium took her hand and shook it firmly, now smiling. "Allium,
fire-water hybrid. No human in me."
she swallowed the cookie she had and chuckled, grinning a
little.
''sure... then why are ya blushin' so hard?'' she questioned,
slipping past the both of them as she entered her room.
"Th-there's other reasons to blush, Crystal! I don't--I mean,
it's... nothing set," Allium whispered in one breath, knowing that
there was no use in arguing.
Wisty stepped forward before Crystal could reply and smiled at her
brightly, with a joyful innocence that reminded Allium of a child.
For a moment Allium was skeptical--after all, most dragons she
meant weren't as harmless as they seemed--but she immediately
chided herself for this and decided that she trusted her. The
Glasglow name, as far as she remembered, was respected.
"Never mind that! Although I'm sure you're wonderful together~" She
winked mischievously, "How about you sit down with us? I want to
get to know you better--don't you, Crystal?" She turned to the
weather halfling and smiled, her words genuine and lacking sarcasm.
Crystal collected up her stuff and sat the box of cookies on the
table, silently sighing as she felt a sudden pang of jealousy hit
her when Allium said nothing had been set between her and Matthew,
it grew even more when Wisteria said she wanted to get to know
Allium a bit better.
she simply smiled and hid her earlier feelings as she looked at
them.
''n-nah, i'm just gonna go stretch out and sketch some more, you
two can go ahead and talk'' she said, then went over to where her
bed was.
Wisty's mind warred between confusion and pain. It hurt more than
it should've and she brushed it off by telling herself that she was
being sensitive--Crystal wouldn't spend as much time around her as
she did if she didn't like her. "You do you," she said, locking
eyes with the weather-hybrid and making sure that she saw her pout.
All the sincere bits of her hurt had been pushed to the back of her
brain. She waved Allium over and easily started up a conversation.
she soon crawled into her bed and leaned back against the wall,
using her legs to support the sketch book and continue doodling,
blushing faintly as she went back to finishing off the one drawing
she was making.
Raven's senses alerted him to the shuffle of footsteps coming from
the hallway. He swam towards the door and was relieved to see that
it was just Adeline and Rogue, both in swimgear. Rogue was still
wearing his necklace and it drew Raven's attention--it indicated
something towards his past, but he didn't know what. "Come in," he
said, motioning more towards Adeline than Rogue.
Adriane looked over and smiled, waving at Adeline and Rogue as they
entered and smiled brightly.
she was sitting on the steps in the pool half submerged in
water.
''hey guy's!'' she said cheerfully.
They both greeted her, although Adeline half-sang it. Rogue sat
next to Adriane, not being much of a swimmer but wanting to be
around friends anyway. The water was a bit too warm for his tastes.
''you can walk around in the water, there is no deep end, the water
is just deep enough so that others can still swim, it's perfect for
learning how to swim!'' Adriane said cheerfully, smiling up at
him.
(oh god i wonder what a (now capable of feeling emotions)
jealous Raven is like, this literally just crossed my mind
=o like no joke)
(=p)
Rogue laughed lightly, although not in a mocking way. "I can
swim, I promise, but I prefer not to," he told her, although
grateful she was trying to help. Adeline and Raven put the space
that was given to use, occasionally splashing a wall of water
towards each other in a sibling-like banter.
"Wow, that was... terribly direct." A faint, lopsided grin was on
his face when he spoke in an amused way. He hadn't known Adriane
for too long, but Rogue seemed to have misinterpreted her
personality. "I won't freeze out the pool, if that's what you're
worried about," he said jokingly, although with a hint of
reassurance. The last thing he wanted was for Adriane to be afraid
of him, and he always assumed the worst about people.
''oh i'm not worried, i just know your powers aren't stable.....
ice dragon's and ice dragon hybrids don't have problems with
frostbite, so your obviously a halfling'' she said, giving a slight
tilt of her head.
Rogue's eyes narrowed slightly but he quickly fixed his face to be
less threatening. Threatening never seemed to work out for him.
"Yup. Father was a human. You don't have a problem with that, do
you?" He turned to her and simply smiled, waiting for a response.
''hun, i'm only seventeen and i've met crazier and more dangerous
dragons, hybrids, crossbreeds, and a fair share of halflings from
only a few of the elements, excluding darkness dragon halflings....
so you don't frighten me one bit'' she said, smiling as she
splashed him with water.
"Good to know," he said, memories of all of the dangerous dragons
he'd met surfacing. Would she still say that if she knew about
all of the crap I've done? He thought, flicking a bit of water
back her way.
Adeline swam up to them, her red eyes glimmering playfully and with
life. She bobbed about, not to question or encourage Rogue to swim,
but to simply be in the company of them. "How're you feeling? Is
the water helping?" She asked, casually looking back at
Adriane.
Raven came forth only moments later, as he needed time to consider
getting close to Rogue. He was comfortable near Adeline and was
getting quite used to Adriane, so he decided that it was worth
it.
Adriane looked at Adeline and nodded, looking down into the water
at her still somewhat bruised shin.
''yeah, it does really help sooth the pain.. it's so nice having a
lot of other hybrids in the cabin, it's... not as quiet and lonely
now...'' she muttered, her expression shifting from her calm and
relaxed one to a bit of a sorrow filled one.
she was silent for a little while before he shook her head and
looked back at Adeline and gave a weak smile.
''h-how are you all adjusting to this place...? every room is
suited best for anyone's style choice and element'' she said,
hoping to change the subject a bit.
Adeline stretched her arms across the ridge of the pool so that she
wouldn't have to tread the water. Adriane's words perplexed
her--she wouldn't have guessed that she was lonely, with Matthew
and Crystal by her side--but she stopped herself from saying
anything when she saw the halfling shake her head. She wasn't one
to drill, much less with someone she hardly knew.
"It didn't take much adjusting at all, actually. This is a real
cozy place you got here. It's a nice change from where we were
before." She smiled again and Raven gave a brief nod of agreement.
"Say, does..." Adeline bit her lip for a second, racking her brain
for the light halfling's name, "Wisty live here as well?"
