Rogue chuckled lightly, shaking his head. "No, it's alright. I
would've done the same... but it's not entirely your fault, I
should learn to keep my distance." He paused, following her gaze up
to the sky. "You're a weather hybrid, right?"
''yes, i am.... and keeping your distance from others is lonely,
just.. don't... don't become lonely, it only causes pain and makes
you feel horrible....'' Crystal mumbled, looking back over at Rogue
as her gaze softened.
Rogue chuckled, "That's not what I meant... And to be fair,
Crystal, I think we hybrids all have a fair share in loneliness."
He said this in a light tone, trying his best to not offend her.
Rogue sighed, sitting down next to her and putting his arm on his
one knee. He was a fair distance away from her, and looked off
dreamily into the sky as he spoke. "If you hate being alone so
much, then choose not to be." He carefully watched the light wisps
of clouds tread steadily across the atmosphere, and said his words
in a slow and somewhat distant way. "There's always a friend
somewhere, if you take the time to look. You seem to have potential
friends all around you, Crystal, yet you let yourself stay
lonely... I don't quite understand what you're trying to say
there," Rogue said, not in a way that meant to offend her.
He rolled his head in her direction, holding it laxly with his legs
still crossed. The heat of the sun on the roof tiles was a bit too
much for his tastes, being an ice dragon and all. "Don't you have
us?" Rogue said, much more softly than before; it was an innocent
question.
"Crystal, we're half-breeds too. We don't all have the nicest
past... or fate, really. But it's a lot less lonely when you try to
make the best out of it."
Crystal gave him a side glance as her one eye showed more pain and
sorrow rather than trying to hide any emotion.
''your father never did unspeakable things to you and abused you,
leaving you for dead cause you couldn't fight back......'' she
muttered flatly, her voice seeming to shatter.
she stared back off into space and her gaze seemed to suddenly fill
with tear's, but she soon slowly smiled.
''but i'm glad i was saved... Adrian's very talented in
healing..... just she's not able to heal physical scars....'' she
muttered, putting her hand lightly over the front of her neck and
choker necklace as if it still hurt.
She's quick to judge, Rogue thought, more of a note than a
judgment. "I've never met a Nature healer before... or any healer,
to be fair. I've only ever seen Nature being used for destruction."
He paused, looking away. Am I trying to change the subject?
He thought, knowing that Allium had called him emotionally
closed-off.
----------
Adeline and Raven sat next to each other on the couch, both of them
talking to Adriane. "Where do you come from?" Adeline asked
lightly.
''Adriane hates seeing nature being tormented by the humans, forest
sections being cut down and killing plant life.... keeping plants
trapped in pots of soil instead of growing freely in open space
like a meadow or something like that, it breaks her heart seeing
such things.... but it's rare for a nature dragon to actually have
that healing ability, since nature dragon's only know how to heal
with herbs than actual healing magic'' Crystal said, seeming to
relax now that the subject seemed to have changed.
~~~~~
Adriane smiled as she sat in a comfy and fluffy looking chair that
was placed by the couch as she looked at them.
''i come from a place in the nature dragon territory called
FernGully, it's a very beautiful place to live'' she said.
Rogue simply shrugged, taking in the information but having no idea
how to respond. "I grew up pretty sheltered, so I doubt I've ever
seen a Nature Dragon use their abilities for anything other than
wreaking havoc... They're good at mass destruction, even in... Ice
Dragon territory," he said calmly. He scanned Crystal's features,
"You're a Weather Dragon, right?... What abilities do you guys
have?"
-------
"Oh, that's a nice name... you guys seem a lot more developed than
we do," Adeline said. Raven nodded in agreement, despite being an
entirely different species. Allium sat on the arm of the couch,
criss-cross style with her hands on her feet. She was still a bit
worried about Matthew, knowing that he was fine and uninjured.
''nature dragons are kind soul's, Rogue, your confusing them with
the darkness dragons'' she shot back, glaring at him as her eye's
lit up with electricity.
Crystal soon got up and formed a cloud, hopping off the roof and
onto it before she made it enlarge a bit and sat back down, going
over to float just a little bit above the roof as she stopped in
front of him.
''to answer your most obvious dumb question... yes, i am a weather
dragon hybrid, and i favor the electrical current in
storm's created by tiny bits of ice smacking into each other at
high speed commonly known as lightning, so watch what you say about
my friends in the cottage ice dragon, otherwise you may get a
shocking surprise the next time you bad mouth them in front of me''
she snapped, referring to Matthew and Adriane.
~~~~~
''well i am a bit more mature than i seem, one of my parents back
in the nature dragon territory is one of the council members there
in FernGully, whereas my other parent was just a simple hybrid
"nature hippie" as human's call certain nature lovers living in the
human world'' Adriane said.
Matthew rolled over in his recliner and was sound asleep, snoring
occasionally in his sleep.
the ancient incantation took more energy then it seemed, though he
didn't look so pale like when he had used it to help Allium.
Rogue blinked, unsure how to react. He was torn between responding
and laughing, but it didn't quite show on his face; instead, he
walked to the edge of the roof of the cottage. "Well, I'll be
going," he said simply, stuffing his hands in his pockets and
giving a little hop off of the roof.
"Hey, Alli," Rogue said, walking into the cabin. She turned to
smile at him, a quick greeting before turning back into Adriane's
words.
Crystal huffed and gritted her teeth, a little annoyed even though
she didn't notice the faint blush and covered her face. big idiot.... she thought.
~~~~~
Adriane looked over and smiled, waving at him since he entered then
looked back at the others.
''my mother, who was part of the council, let me have free range of
the gigantic archive's that were there, while my father, the nature
hippie, showed me how to heal and how to make an herbs stronger''
she said.
She made a little "oh" shape with her mouth and nodded
understandingly; Raven remained unresponsive. His mind was swirling
with thoughts of the shadow dragon pack that he was raised in, who
acted more like savage beasts than they did dragons--the only thing
that kept them from absolutely tearing each other apart was their
animalistic instinct to work together in order to destroy
everything else. Adeline turned and looked at him with concern, but
he only shook his head to indicate that he was fine.
She pursed her lips and looked back at Adriane. "So do the Nature
dragons mostly work as a large... community, of a sort? Weather
dragons have a few different monarchies that branch off but stay
somewhat in contact--I think some of them even take place in the
mountains of the human world, actually." Her eyes trailed off a bit
as she spoke, but she eventually returned them to Adriane for an
answer.
''like i said, the nature dragon territory has a council, with at
least six dragon's'' Adriane said.
Ent, Adriane's little companion stayed next to her while never
getting up onto the furniture in anyway and stayed stationary.
Rogue's eyes strayed to little Ent, who he still didn't quite
understand. Although he understood Adriane as much as he understood
her familiar; he had never met many Nature dragons, even as a
nomad. Allium was one of the first dragons he'd ever really stayed
friends with. She looked up at him with confused, shimmering golden
eyes for a few seconds before smiling at him. Her gaze broke focus
and glanced at the fire-hybrid in the chair, and just as quickly
she turned to Adriane. "Hey, Adriane," she said, softly, "I uh...
Is it okay if I stay with you in the cottage? I can help out and
stuff, easy, and I can sleep outside if you don't have enough
room... I feel like I kinda owe Matthew--and you--you know?"
Adriane looked over at Allium and smiled brightly.
''i've got plenty of room here, the cottage is bigger than you
think... there are plenty of rooms for anyone who wishes to stay
here'' she said.
