I watched as Karl, Sally, and Selinia fell and scrambled to help. But by the time I reached them, they were up and running. I stayed close to them, just barely on their heels. I threw myself into the room just behind them, managing to not fall on poor Karl, who must have been in excruciating pain. Only after Sally had slammed the door shut did I let myself breath a bit easier. Leaning back against a wall, I caught my breath. All the while, the pain in my arm and the anger I felt at the guy who threw the explosive built. Lifting my head, I looked for him. Seeing him sitting near the door, I pulled out one of my fans. I kept if closed and pointed the sharp, dagger like end at him as I made my way over. "Next time you throw things, how about you give the rest of us a heads up? As much as I love having my ears pierced and wearing ear rings, I don't appreciate my latest piercing," I told him, holding out my arm at an angle he couldn't miss. "I'd return the favor," I said, I moving my blade closer to his arm. "But I'm guessing we'll need as many people as we can get to fight our way back out. So, kindly refrain from blowing us all up. I don't plan on dying here." Turning, I walked away from him, my boots clicking smartly on the floor. Once on the other side of the room, I turned my attention to my arm. As much pain as I was in, Karl needed to be looked at first. My arm bleed, but I had something to stop most of it. Karl's was an open wound. Looking around, I spotted an old style first aid kit. Picking it up, I looked inside. The labels were much different from what I was used to, but I thought I could figure it out. There was a stack of cloth strips and I took one out, wrapping it around my arm. Methodically, I layered it so that it wrapped above then below the metal that pierced my flesh. Tying it off, I closed the kit and walked over to Karl. "Let's take a look at that leg, okay? I want to get that cleaned up." I figured if anything tried to get in, Sally and the others would keep it out while I took care of Karl's leg and my arm.

"I was a MSOT." Riles replied. Apart from that, he said nothing. He was concentrating hard on reaching the door before it closed. He dived through the small gap. His armor made it a very tight squeeze. He landed roughly on the floor, gasping. He slowly got to his feet and looked around. The room looked secure enough.

Kai was gasping when he arrived the building. He had never... Well thats a lie... been closer to death. When the young woman, known as Serena, walked up at him and pointed her weird weapon at him and began to threaten him, Kai seriously just wanted to slip her throat open. But instead of pulling out the shotgun and aiming at her head, Kai kept his cool and said "Well someones not a big FAN of me." That was his way of relieving stress. Puns. Kai quickly got up and walked over to Karl. "Look, sorry for earlier... Like throwing the grenade and not warning you guys... AND making you guys trip... Just trying to help...**Flashback scene that won't be explained in a while, causing some silence.**... But tell us what happened. I am hell sure that back in 1945 there weren't any zombies during WWII. And I'm hell sure your the reason we're **Gestures around** here." Kai said softly. "So please. Tell us." And with that, Kai sat down on the dirt, popping in his mouth a Mint.

Sherene slipped through the narrow opening with a smidgen more of grace than Riles did. She did, however, stop her mad dash or sprint to avoid running into anyone. She spun around and stared at the smashed skull. "So. We are in what I assume is World War... two, I think. And there are zombies running about. Does that correctly sum up the situation?" She dryly said, eyeing the woman and the man (who was injured) who seemed most experienced. Or at the very least, has dealt with this kind of stuff more than anyone else.

Rules groaned when Kai made the pun. "Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse... a comedian." He muttered. He looked over at Sherene. "As far as I can tell." He agreed. "And yeah, explanations would be nice. I mean, I was never great at history, but I am nearly one hundred percent sure that there was not even the slightest mention of zombies in World War Two in my textbook."

Sherene found herself agreeing with the man. She was pretty sure humans voildnt have possibly ommitef that little piece of information. "I agree with Riles. An explanation would be greatly appreciated." She frowned. "Um.. does anyone here also have a crowbar? I would also really like getting one, if nobody here minds touch when the zombies are not clamoring for a taste of human flesh. And banging on the doors."

Mag, being right behind the injured man, had made it into the room without having to leap through. She took a few deep breaths and inspected the room once the door was sealed and everyone inside. She nodded as people began asking questions and all talking. "Everyone!" She spoke in a very loud tone. "Quiet down and let the man speak... We all have questions, he only has one mouth with which to answer our many questions. So one at a time." She put her hands at chest level motioning to settle down. She turned to the man and walked over to him watching the girl try to work on his leg. "Might I be of help?" She asked the girl as she knelt down next to her. "I may not have specialized in field triage, but I do know some basics..."

"Keep it up, psycho, keep it up and just wait to see how big a fan of yours I become. Less then a foot to the right and I'd be dead. But do you care? No. And I get the feeling you won't loose sleep over it either," I muttered, focusing on the task at hand. As much as I wanted to slap the boy, to grab his shoulders and ram my knee between his legs, I refrained. Instead, I looked through the fist aid kit for some hydrogen peroxide, or something close to it, to pour over the bite on Karl's leg.

It seemed everyone was more concerned with the fact we'd all been pulled from our realities and thrown back into World War II instead of the fact that we'd barely escaped a horde of zombies and poor Karl was hurt. Not just hurt, that he had been bitten and needed medical attention. Then a girl who, to my untrained eye, looked like she belonged to some branch in the military, spoke up. I was glad to hear her tell the others to calm down to let Karl explain. At this point, my anger at the want to be comedian meant that I might have snapped at someone without meaning to. We didn't need to be at each others throats. There was plenty of other beings who would be more then happy to be at our throats in the city. Or more accurately, to eat our throats out. The military woman knelt down next to me and said she had basic training in first aid. If I hadn't been on my knees already to help Karl, that statement might have brought me to them.

"Oh! Yes! Yes, please! I have no training. I'm just going off of common sense, what I've read in books, and what my grandmother told me when she was alive. She was a nurse so she took care of me when I hurt myself out playing in the gardens. I would be very grateful for the help. And after we take care of Karl's leg, can I bother you to help me?" I asked, motioning to my arm. "I don't want to pull it out. I don't know if it hit an artery and I know that if it did, pulling it out before we're ready is the last thing I want to do. And I'm sure you'd rather not have me bleed out on you all," I added, giving her a nervous smile. "I'm Serena by the way."

Jacob looked around. Three of their rather limited numbers were badly injured and the others looked in pretty bad shape. They might as well start with introductions. "Jacob Riles." He nodded. He looked over at Karl's injured leg. He wanted to help, as basic medical courses were part of basic training, but he didn't have a medi-kit handy as he had lost his supplies when whatever had happened had happened. Not knowing what else to do, he simply stood in the corner and frowned at everyone subconsciously. It was only when he realized what he was doing that he tried to rearrange his eyes into what he hoped implied a worried expression beneath his facial armor.

Mag nodded and moved over to the other side of the man's leg analyzing it as she listened to the woman explain. Deep puncture wound... Both sides... Ouch... She began digging through the first aid kit and grinned as she pulled a little paper bag about the size of a sugar packet out of the box labeled "Sulfa Powder." (The info on sulfa powder is in the first section.) She looked up to the metal shard that had impaled the young woman's arm. "That looks bad, though it doesn't look like it would have hit a major artery..." She looked back down to the injured man and ripped open the little packet. "This is going to hurt." She poured half of the packet on the top of his leg, and the other half on the bottom. She then took gauze out of the kit and wrapped the leg. "The powder will help to keep it clean and make your blood coagulate quicker..."

Mag turned to the woman and smiled slightly. "I'm Magdalena, but you can call me Mag or Magda." She almost went to offer her right hand to shake but instead gently took the injured arm by the wrist. "Okay, what I'm going to do with this is I'm going to put a tourniquet on it and then remove the shard, but before I pull it, I'm going to give you some morphine..." She pulled a small needle with a rubber-like bulbous end to it out of the kit. "You'll probably still feel the metal being pulled, but it won't hurt as much... Are you allergic to any drugs?" She asks as she goes through the kit and pulls out a cloth strip and a rod.

"She's most likely allergic to guys like me. And yes, I won't gain or lose any sleep to the shrapnel injury of yers. It's not like I can control the shrapnel to only hit the bad guys." Kai said as he got up and stood near a wall. He leaned on it and slided down to a sitting position. "Kai Parker. Or just call me Quill." Kai stayed quiet for a while. He seriously wanted to get away from that wretched room. He didn't like the aura this place was giving. And from the girl with fans aura was also... Disturbing for him mostly.

"Yeah, 'cause you're definitely a drug." Jacob muttered, but didn't say much else. Everyone was quite now. He had never been content with standing around doing nothing. He coughed a couple of times, simply to break the comparative silence, but did not attempt to say anything.

Sherene snickered at that. She didn't though. She was a thief and she needed to stay calm, even in the face of what has happened. "My name is Sherene." She offered. She decided that she didn't like the one wearing a fancy dress and the one named Serena she definitely didn't like. Why should she lose sleep over the death of someone she didn't know?

Selinia's thought glazed over, ignoring the conversations going on. Sure she would love to tear this "Kai Parker" a new one, but that wasn't really her style. Besides, by the look on Sally's face she was about to do it for her.. The woman's face was a mask of barely controlled anger, her fists clenched tightly. Selinia's attention was drawn away however, by a odd hallway leading out from the left wall. Moving closer, she peeked around the corner. Just a hallway. She didn't what she had been expecting. A horror movie style jump scare? Bloody walls? Shaking her head at her own imagination, she walked quickly down the hall, pulling open the first door she came to. Nothing but dusty furniture and books. She moved to the next one, and her eyes widened in surprise. Guns lined the walls, with boxes of ammo littering the floor. Directly across from her sat a corpse, rotting against the wall. She wasn't interested in it though. She was interested in what it was holding. The decaying hand cradled a truly massive double barreled elephant gun, at least four and a half feet end to end. She picked it up, prying away to stiffened fingers. It seemed in near perfect repair, with only a few scratches along the handle. She studied the strange markings, suddenly realizing that they formed a word. "Preacher."

Karl put a hand on Sally's shoulder, preventing her from beating Kai to a pulp. He gritted his teeth at the sulfa powders sting, but managed to speak anyway. "Kid if you keep acting like that, I'm either going to leave you hear or Sally is going to shoot you. You not only seriously injured this woman, but you nearly got us killed. If you keep pulling stunts like that, we'll have no chance of making it out alive." He turned back to the others. "Now for your questions. I'm assuming that you are all from some other point in time, judging by you strange outfits. I don't know why you've never heard of all this. Perhaps the government decided that keeping the zombie apocalypse secret was better than global panic. As for a crowbar, I wouldn't know. Some of the zombies carry them. You could take one from them. Anyway, an explanation. I'll give you the short version. Hitler used some kind of ancient demonic artifact to call forth an army of the dead. It was his last ditch effort to win the war. Luckily, we were able to contain the hordes within Germany. Sally and I are what's left of an elite sniper strike team, attempting to infiltrate Hitlers "Hell Mouth" bunker and destroy the artifact."

"As far as I know, I am not allergic to any medicine. I would love some pain killers but are you sure it wouldn't be better for Karl? I don't want to take something away that could help him," I said to Mag. Ignoring Kai's rude comments, his strange behavior, and my own sense of righteous revenge, I focused on the others. Turning to Sherene, I offered, "I think I saw one laying on the ground as we came in. I'm not positive and it could have just been a trick of the light. Once the zombies back off, and if we go out that way, I will look to see if it is."

I listen to Karl as I watched Mag get ready. I wasn't afraid of needles but if you didn't watch them as they were stuck in you, it didn't hurt as much. All that tension and expectation made it worse. So I would turn my head when she got ready to inject the morphine. In the mean time, it wouldn't hurt to watch and learn from what she was doing. If anyone else happened to get injured like this, regardless of the cause, I would hopefully be able to help. Hearing the part about a demonic artifact, I turned to look at Karl. "So...all that scary make believe from books and all those myths and stuff from legends...that could all exist? Or have existed depending on if someone was insane enough to use them. Like Hitler clearly was...is?" I asked, uncertain if he was gone by now or not. If he wasn't, I was seriously considering finding him myself and giving him a piece of my mind. Whether or not that was a good idea was irrelevant. Would I actually leave the group to hunt him down? No. If we ran into him would I call him every name in my vocabulary and try to mark him with my blades? You could count on it.

"So this demonic artifact is pretty much magical, right?" Sherene checked. She paused for either confirmation or denial, and then continued. "Please tell me we don't have to find an angelic artifact that does the exact opposite to destroy this thing... And yes, I think the government did try to put a blanket over this, but I believe that they stored some files with the highest security clearance somewhere in their systems. It only makes sense, after all. And thanks for the advice." Sherene added the last part since Karl seemed like someone she could probably get along with. Key word being probably.

Jacob looked around and blinked a couple of times. "So are we just gonna stay holed up in here?" He asked. "And on that note, what is this place?"

(This post contains Croatian words. The translation will be at the end in italics.)

Mag nodded as the girl spoke. "There are several more in this kit, enough for Karl and then some." She let a slight smile pull the corner of her lips up as she stuck it into the girl's arm just above the wound while she was distracted. She listened to the conversation and the seemingly impossible sounding reason for this "hell-on-Earth" scenario. She wrapped the strip of cloth around the injured arm above the metal and tied the ends of the cloth to the rod and began to twist it around. "This is gonna get tight..." She said with a straight face for she wasn't new to the sight of blood or having to treat bloody injuries. Once the tourniquet is tight enough she uses medical tape to secure the rod so it won't unwind. "Here we go, this will feel a little weird, but shouldn't hurt." She gently took the girl's arm in one hand and gently set her fingers on the metal. "Molim se to radi." She muttered under her breath and pulls the metal out smoothly but quickly, still holding the girl's arm firmly. Once the metal was out she quickly powdered the area in Sulfa Powder and took wrappings out of the kit and wrapped them tightly around the wound. "We'll have to change these every day at least once..." She then turned to Karl and stared at the larger wound on his leg, deciding how best to treat it now that it was cleaned. Probably wrapping it, but I need to find out if it's broken... Then I'd have to splint it... That'd be rather bothersome... I don't have enough rods to do that... Drat... Her face was still blank as her mind ran over the various ways to make splints.

(I pray this works.)

Kai nodded and said "Alright... Karl... Are you a Sargent, Lieutenant, Leader, Ender or etc? Anyways, I am sorry for all. And I may just sit back now." Kai sat down and sighed. If he had his headphones, he would be relaxing. But no... Somehow his stuff has disappeared... He felt a new small feeling crept to him. It was strange and alien. He felt sea sick. Thats when he realised. It was guilt. Kai got up and went to lie down next to the corpse, which was comfy.

Jacob was surprised that anyone could look so comfortable so close to a corpse normally, let alone in a country infested by zombies, but he said nothing. If people wanted be weird, who was he to judge them. Still, he felt d lightly disturbed and forced himself to turn his attention away from Kai and the corpse.
