Carnivora (RP)
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Carnivora (RP)"I-I'm honored you think I'm worthy of such a position," the black cat finally stammered out but it didn't take long for his usual confidence to find its way back to his voice after he slowly got over the initial shock. "I'll definitely figure something out, those hyumens won't know what hit them once I'll get my claws on them. You won't regret this, I won't fail you."
Inked wasn't one to like doing research much but if his superior asked him to do research, that's what he'll do. Figuring the Queen was done with her speech as she was only talking to the wolf twins now, Inked was about to leave to the direction of the library. However, before he did that, he turned his head to look at Sharptooth again with a sly smirk on his face, "I'll tell Drake you miss him." With that, Inked took off, zigzagging through the crowd with ease as he ran.
((I'm assuming the relationship is no secret. If that's not the case, feel free to yell at me and I'll fix this post.))
However, no enemy came
"good...." she thought

"These are both excellent ideas. Thank you. I've been so worried with keeping everyone safe that I forgot we could do this. The question being, how far can we get the powers of the telekinetics to stretch? Plus, what if the humans see the metal thing floating away? My thoughts are we need a safe diversion, but not one so alarming that they grab the metal things.
"What if you twins cause innocent chaos on either side of the camp? How far can your powers reach? I doubt the metal things can be used to stop fires, and the metal beasts probably cannot run as quickly as us on ice. I'll have to send you with some of the stronger illusionists, and disguised as well. But I want your assurances you will remain safe."
Jagged pelt sat down, and swished her tail to bring her daughter closer. Safe.

Sharptooth grinned. He remembered his days of being independent and sassy like Inked. And he was now in charge of the whole guard.
Inked needed the experience, though he was often sneaking around behind the enemy. But what cat didn't? In Sharptooth's experience, warriors either had to command or follow, and Inked was bad at following. Plus, it was better to start learning command early.
He sighed as he walked over to the medical tent. The young panther would need a teacher

Drake continued reading, and continued getting more worried.
Now that he knew what humans used to be called, finding references to them was easy.
In the past, they'd made pleasure of killing his kin, the other drakes and dragons. They'd caused the death of all the elders before Jagged Pelt, leaving her the last member of the royal line.
And he found a passage from Jagged Pelt herself.
"I must go to the mind healer again, there is no one left. The two leggers are smarter than we thought, they came here to harvest our fur. They killed my children, my siblings, my parents. I am all that's left. I am the oldest, oh gods.
"There isn't anything for me here, I must create a new land where myself and the last of my people can live peacefully. Gods forbid our protections fade.
"The mind healer said that she can heal all of us, protect all of us, at the cost of her life. The secret to our protection is forgetting them. We must forget the two leggers, our whole land. When the memory is gone from the land, the two leggers will forget the land. We forget them, they can't remember us.
"They wear a metal skin called armor when fighting us, and they use giant metal sticks to cut us. They shoot wood into our hearts. They lay stuff in the woods, snares they were called, that strangle us to death.
"Gods save us all."
Drake sighed and continued hunting. He'd have to find a book detailing human weapons. They'd moved from metal sticks that hit, to metal sticks that shot. And he assumed there was more.

(EDIT: Distances
leaf, shrub, tree.
Leaf is about 6 inches
Shrub is about 3 feet
Tree is about 50 feet
Longer distances are measured by time.
For example, the humans are a day's falcon flight away)

The two twins then began to take turns speaking, finishing one another's sentence and going back and forth with Celia speaking first.
"We can project our power to the length of a tree with ease, but if we were to --"
"-- focus ourselves, we estimate the projection would grow to the length of four or five trees. --"
"-- However, this would cause us both to have a massive strain on our powers --"
"-- including Telepathy --"
"-- until we've properly recuperated."
They all gathered in a clearing, that was when a beautiful lady started talking. He didn't listen to the most of it, hearing only something about danger coming. Instead Cuatro started searching here, too. Maybe by a chance, she ended up here, somewhere in the crowd.
Honestly he should have looked for a new pack, the cub could have found a home, a teacher. But all those thought left him, when Cuatro saw a big black feline. He ran up to them, excitement and joy leaping from his heart, until he realized one thing. They're fur was all black, only a shadow of marks seen. And the eyes where light green, not those shocking blues, he was looking for.
So his heart broke once more realizing he failed again.
"What's up little fella? Did you get yelled at by your parents or something?" Inked asked jokingly before lifting his head and letting his eyes wander through the crowd. He wasn't able to spot anyone who could've been the cub's parent and thus, he wasn't quite sure what to do next. He had research to do but he couldn't just leave a little upset jaguar in there on his own, right? When Inked asked his next question, he wasn't joking anymore, "Where are your parents?"
He closely listened to Jagged Pelt's words and studied the meanings and probable causes as a whole, trying to figure out how things would turn out if the ideas were actually implemented. He might not have been a master strategist considering war, but with his amount of experience he could be considered somewhat of a veteran at least. The whole concept of a war sounded horribly devastating, but yet intriguing when the concept of metal beasts and unaccustomed objects came to hand. The study of such matter could bring a lot more information and knowledge to the whole community.
Feeling like it wasn't his turn yet to speak up and have his thoughts heard, Bricius decided to stay quiet for now, and maybe attempt to talk to the queen herself in private if possible, although he was aware of the fact that he was just a peasant himself. Such an honorable opportunity would be highly doubtable, and very unlikely to happen.
He saw the older panther look around, noticed even more things out of place. He was younger, less agile and smaller, nothing in his posture spoke of hostility or superiority. Actually they looked nothing alike, most likely it was the cubs wishful thinking.
His eyes turned to the floor when the serious question was asked, the one that's always asked. Most likely he'll just become a burden for the other feline if he was honest. Cuatro has troubled a lot of people by now, he didn't want to drag this one to, he looked to be a nice guy..
"They're further at the back, near the opening," he smiled at the black Panther "I was simply exploring, sorry for the trouble!" Cuatro tried to muster the most cheerful voice he could, looking up with his blue eyes.
"So , say you only had to be three treelengths away, how long would it take you to recuperate? I don't want you to be hurt in any way, so the closer is better.
"And some of the birds and flying drakes can help with the fire. They'll drop small, easily lit kindling where I want the fire, and the mess of leaves and branches the humans leave behind will do the rest.
"However, as soon as you have lit the fires, and made the ice, I need you to come back. Our telekinetics will be waiting to create a shield after you guys are back. And after one of them gets the metal stick."
Sharptooth started walking through the crowd himself, looking for the raptor princess. Of course she was nowhere to be found right now, but he needed to make sure she was safe.
Royals could really be a pain sometimes...and the queen wanted to eat dinner with both princesses this evening

She caught a glance of Sharptooth walking through the crowd. He was likely looking for Flint, who didn't seem to be here at the moment. It was probably nothing, the raptor princess was probably just late to the event. Probably.
Kaurith scanned the crowd, taking note of Inked and those twin wolves the queen had been speaking to earlier. She couldn't help feeling uncomfortable, looking at all of these unfamiliar faces that were looking at her and her mother. For a moment, she considered dulling her feathers to lessen the amount of gazes resting on her, though she brushed away the thought, dubbing it as a sign of meekness. Her shiny feathers shifted to a more oceanic color as she listened to Jagged Pelt's ideas, shifting strategies of her own through her mind as she pondered the thought of what exactly caused humans to become sinkholes for magic. As she thought on this, she gradually gave less and less attention to the words coming from her mother's mouth.
"Alright. Just don't explore too much, okay?" Inked gave the cub a 'I mean it' look as he spoke. They didn't need younglings wandering around and getting lost. However, a smirk found its way on his face in no time as he started talking again, "As one of the most awesome warriors, I've got stuff to do and you should get back to your parents before they get worried. If you ever need anything, feel free to find me." The black cat was about to leave before he remembered something, "Oh right, I'm Inked." He flashed a quick smile at the cub before darting towards the library again.
It didn't take too long for the fast black panther to arrive at the library and he strolled in nonchalantly. Inked let his eyes linger on the countless books as he walked further inside. He never really quite understood why anyone would want to spent so much time just cooped inside and read. Didn't Drake ever get bored of all these books? Spotting the infamous bookwyrm, Inked looked up at him as he started talking, "Hey there Drake! Your boyfriend told me to do some research, you feel like helping out?"
"But if you need us to go up to five, it will only take two weeks." Joao added.
When Jagged Pelt spoke of the fire, Joao stepped forward. "I could help spread the fire quicker if you'd like, it would just take me longer to properly recover." he offered. Celia tilted her head slightly in thought.
'Do you suppose the queen has taken a liking to us?' Celia asked her twin telepathically.
Joao craned his neck to look at her. 'That's not really important right now.'
Well, Cuatro was busy as well! There was still plenty to go around, a lot of animals to inspect. Just because the first similar feline wasn't his treasured parent, it didn't mean that they weren't here at all. Though, he knew the chances were slim, they never liked gatherings, or other animals for the matter.
The cub continued moving through the crowd, looking left and right, trying to spot black blurs. He went very carefully, avoiding any flicking appendages, knowing too well what happens when you step on one.
The little Jaguar noticed the pretty lady again, this time talking to two wolfs that looked a like. Now that he had a good look at her, she seemed very different from the other animals. Something about her wasn't right, well but not wrong ether.. He really didn't know how to put this feeling. She just looked superior to others, mightier, more special.. Yes he really didn't know how to express this feeling.
"Any miscalculation or even the slightest mistake could turn the whole operation to a complete fiasco, though. In my opinion, before we go ahead and do our so called deeds, we should try to get one of these strange, untypical metal objects in our own custody if possible, and attempt to study it and do some research on the subject, before blindly rushing towards the opponent without knowing the power they behold, and of course the strength of these items they tend to carry."
Keeping his gaze on the queen and her company, he finished his short speech and curled up in a calm and slow motion, swiftly tasting the air with his tongue for a brief moment. He was unsure of the response the higher ranks would give him as a quite lowly peasant of the streets, but the attempt was surely worth it.
"It would be more beneficial to first learn about the enemy before attacking. For all we know, certain methods of attack may make them stronger. The more we attack, the more they know about our capabilities and limits." She shrugged her shoulders. "Of course, this is only my opinion. What do you think, mother?"
Emeka was listening to the conversation with his ears perked. He took in all the opinions and thought them over several times in his head. If we take their metal sticks, they're pretty much useless, but like Sharptooth said earlier, our magic doesn't work. Emeka tilted his head slightly. Then again, my power wouldn't be very useful fighting against the humans in the first place, so if I take into account my normal capabilities, then... He shook his head, growling to himself. No, no, their weapons would just kill me from far away. Emeka was stumped at this point. His instincts were telling him to speak up about something or other, but he knew he had nothing to say, so he stayed silent and listened some more.
But his attention started to slip to the two wolfs, they looked identical from here. Most likely they were related, a part of one big family. It had to be really fun to have someone at all times, to watch your back, help you out.. The feline silently wished to be back at his mother paws, the soft sound of purring always vibrating from her chest..
The homesickness was really overwhelming for the little jaguar cub. Something he just didn't know how to fight anymore.
