I would assume that art theft isn't allowed, but it doesn't appear to be in the rules. Shouldn't it be added, so that people don't steal art and use it without credit?

im kinda sorry to say but this is kinda impossible. i know its annoying when people steal your hard work(trust me. it happened to me) but its not easy. when you post a sprite/art work make sure you have a mark on it that only the creator of the sprite can find easily.

Consider how many other sites have rules against this. Also, you're forgetting about the button labelled report, on every userpage, which allows anyone who spots art theft to report it - not just Riako can see art theft!

Although users really should know better, and most spriters and artists here already have posted their terms, I agree and think the rule should be added.

It's always possible to steal art, even with a mark on it. If you don't want your art to be stolen, don't post it on the Internet. Safest way to keep your art safe.

Edit: And yes, the rule should be added just to be on the safe side.

there are millions of sites that this happens on. not just here. and i agree with Mirej. but only a few are completely capable of removing it. like for example if your sprite is from photobucket or photoshop. just delete it and the remaining sprite will only show a error

Please tell me that I'm not the only one amused by the fact that the only one who isn't supporting is the one who's already stealing art.
Everyone except Umbreon, thanks for the support.
Umbreon, please read this:
Kinchiona of PokéFarm made the emoticon you're using in your "About Me." She doesn't allow use of her PokéSona by anyone else, and yet you use the custom emoticon made by her, for her, and don't even give her credit.
Also, I don't think she's going to just delete the emoticon that she has used in at least half of her posts.
(I edited this to try to make it sound less rude, but still keep the point.)

ahah..yeah, i recognize it

probably could have been taken care of in a pm though, no offense <3

i guess that's proof that even with a rule in place or potentially in place, people will steal art regardless still

there's no guarantee that people won't steal off other sites, but the rule can at least prevent it from happening within the community here

no, but she clearly states that her emotes are meant for her use only, if you didn't see

regardless, you should have asked permission first, which is still a common sense courtesy thing to do if you want to use *anyone's* art

it's nice that you took it down though, thank you

Actually, AutumnStar, since there isn't a rule in place, it doesn't prove that it would happen even with a rule. Also, I guess I probably should have sent that as a PM.
Also, Umbreon, I apologize for assuming that you were stealing it intentionally; however, I do believe that even though you weren't trying to steal it, you should always give credit to the person who made it for everyone to see, not just the people who explicitly asked.
EDIT: I was ninja'd so many times that the first part doesn't even make sense... I was talking about your first post after mine, just so you know, AutumnStar!

no problem, and also you're completely right :)

Well, if there IS a rule added about this, then mods will have reasons to give warnings and (if you do it a lot) bans. If there isn't a rule (which there isn't) and people steal art and don't give credit, the person could deny it and tell the mod or whatever that they technically have no right to warn/ban them :P

I think Rule 6 already states that art theft is forbidden, doesn't it?
Quote from Rule 6You are not allowed to share any illegal content that is restricted regarding any official law. This refers especially to copyrighted material (e.g. music, images, videos etc.).

Copying images from other sites is also sharing copyrighted material.

I'm just gonna jump in here and ask if art can be mentioned in Rule 6, just to make it 100% clear?
