@doodlebug:
The flaw in:
Quote from doodlebug09Someone who is new might go "ok you can put that on the trade and send it to me" then the other person will get off and change their user and never give the person their stuff
is that even if someone changes their username you can still find them, since as long as you use their last username to get to their profile you can view their new username.

I personally don't know what to say about this, and I don't think I'll need this, since I do try to trade only with people I trust and only pokemon-to-pokemon trades.

However, I see how this would be useful, and might be very good food for thought.

Yet someone new might not figure out they can do that I have been on here for a while and I still get confused when someone changes their user so it's possible it could still happen

As said doodle, if they decline the trade and refuse to return what you sent for the trade, you can report them for scamming. No, you wont get your stuff back, but at least they will be banned.

With the idea of adding onto the rules and the addition of an "undo" button (not just on trades, but nuggets, pd, and gems as well), certain staff members would actually be able to get you your stuff back before banning the other player for scamming if they refuse to willing return it since they cancelled the trade either by stating they refuse to or after given ample time they have not completed the trade.

I don't think that someone will be ignored by the mods if he/she got robbed/scammed. Happened to me once, I sent the money and the guy didn't sent the item in return, then this guy sent the money to another account...

...I reported him and a mod "helped me"... well... very bad, but did. The guy got locked and I never received my money back or any other information about what happened (looked that the mod just wanted to the rid of this case really fast). I just had to swallow the fact that the thief got his account locked (not permanently).

Now he/she is probably unlocked, enjoying our PH with some small stuff acquired with my money.

This thing of "your trades are your responsibility" or something like this, should be more like an advertise to make players be careful with their trades/deals, not a rule to protect mods and allows them to say "thats your problem, deal with it".

Thieves, scammers... both are criminals and should be completely unacceptables.

And that once again falls into the category of an undo button and the trading I mentioned

Ywah Iskandar, once a guy stole me 250 nuggets, I reported him and the user got banned (I don't know if it was because my report because I didn't get any response) and I never saw my nuggets again. The undo trade wouldn't work here because the user could easily spend/give his main account the nuggets (they usually use multiaccounts to protect their main accounts). That's why we need a new trading system, we can't just be paranoid of the person we're trading with.

I know you don't want to hear this - but why don't you use the Trusted Trading Thread? And tell your friends to do so? Because the mods participating wait until both parties send the agreed amount, you won't be scammed, and if user2 doesn't send the payment, you get your stuff back, knowing user2 intended to scam you.

If you can read this, you know how to read.

Pretty much exactly what Nessy just said. It's a shame to see people still getting 'scammed' even after a System Notification had been sent out to every user, letting them know of the Trusted Trading Thread and what the thread was made for. Still, it seems that some users refuse to use it, or they just simply ignored the warning.
The mods in charge of that thread will gladly help anyone who is in need of a safe trade being done. The thread was made exactly for one purpose: to prevent users from scamming one another, by allowing us to safely transfer both parties' end of the bargain.
And like Nessy said, if one side doesn't do their part, everything will be returned to the rightful owners.

Yes, the Trusted Trading Thread is useful in many situations, but there are some problems with it, that makes it non-viable in many many situations.

When you're a person like me, you tend to trust in people you don't know, specially on this site. And you feel that if you say 'Hey, don't you wanna use the TTT to do the trade?' it would be like betraying the confidence you have in the person, and the person could be offended.

Only if the trade was important I'd use the TTT, because I'd much rather have the confidence of the other person than the security that I'm not being scammed. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.

Plus, the TTT is slow (I don't think there's anything that could be done about it), and when doing small trades or trades that you repeat very often (to me, selling shiny houndour and buying marine cave maps), you wouldn't use it for every trade, and yeah, those trades are banal, but it's not fun if somebody scams you.

And if everybody used the TTT for semi-trivial trades, the mods would easily be overwhelmed because the amount of trades would me enormous.

So, my conclusion is that the TTT is useful mostly on important/big trades, but not in the trades you make most of the time.

QuoteYeah we could use the Trusted Trading Thread but I don't desire to have third parties take part in my trades. Rather, I'd like to be guaranteed that if who I'm trading with doesn't fulfill they're side of the trade, I have the right to report them and then get my belongings back.

The TTT, like Gaspoo said, is really only useful during large trades due to slowness. Slowness isn't anyone's fault, of course; we all have lives outside of the computer.

Right now, if someone is scammed, they don't get their belongings back. To put it simply, this is NOT ok. We shouldn't have to do something like the TTT. We should feel safe when doing trades. Without the feeling of security the rules should be providing, this rule instead does the opposite affect of potentially discouraging trading.

//Moved to Solved, as part of the big Bug/Complaint clean-up.

I feel like, while the rule wasn't changed, the possibility of scamming was reduced with the major overhaul of the GTS. If you feel this is unjustified of me, please let me know and I'll move it back.
