I traded an onix recently, I gave my onix a metal coat and I checked that the other onix also have a metal coat. When the trade is done, the onix that I get does not have metal coat and it does not evolve. Is this a bug or I just get tricked. I traded with gallan208 and the time was 3 hours and 9 minutes from the time I make this post. It may also be my fault for not checking thoroughly though.

I'm not sure what the conditions for evolution are on PH, so try checking the Evolution Guide in the Guides forum to see if you've accidentally missed a step.

I checked, in order for onix to evovle, it need to be traded while hoding metal coat.

If you received the Onix back without the metal coat on it (meaning that this user leveled the Onix up once while it was holding the metal coat), just refresh the page. Sometimes it takes some time for the actual image to change into the Pokemon evolution it should be.

And are you sure that this user kept the metal coat on it and leveled it up? Or are you sure they didn't take it?

In your opening post you said it came back without it so the user took it off and traded your onix back with no metal coat. They tricked you and you need to talk to them if that doesn't work then report them.

@ChibiTogepi ~ That doesn't necessarily mean that's what happened, but it could be a possibility.

If what I stated in my previous post works (refreshing the page) or so, then it was just a little error. If this was the case, then the metal coat would disappear (not there when being traded back), as reloading would cause the Steelix to appear.

As an example from personal experience, I once sent a Seadra to a user for them to evolve it. They placed it back in the GTS, and from what I saw, the Dragon Scale was not on it any longer, but the image still appeared to be that of a Seadra. Once reloading the page (or doing ctrl + f5), the image of the Seadra was fixed into Kingdra.

But yes, if that does not work, the only two ideas left is that the other user stole it, or it is an evolution bug that needs to be fixed in the coding.

@Doopliss~ Ah that makes sense to me now. I was only saying that it could be but it maybe just a bug after all. Thank you for clearing that up.
